Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Good insight into how the NBA is just another business, that Corey Clark got from Leonard Hamilton.

The Knicks want to make a run at some big-time free agents next season – a guy named LeBron, some other dude named Wade – and they’re going to have to free up a few dollars. They would also like to showcase some of their veterans for a possible trade.

Seems to make little sense for the Knicks

Wouldn’t you want to showcase your talent to your potential future signings? Cleveland and Toronto have been trying to add talent to show player their committed to winning, why would you show case your left overs to lure a top 5 player in the league? The other argument is that they will once the vets are traded, but the Knicks are crazy on this one, your team sucks give the young guys some PT, it will payoff.

Agree that "Knicks are crazy on this one." Also not giving TD playing time is going to bite them in the long run.

Short sighted visions for a team with half-assed management, but that is nothing new. I would enjoy their misery more if TD was not part of that team. Go Heat!

I was wondering the same thing.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention Frank. I personally wished the Magic could have gotten him. Hope he ends up doing well in the long run. Toney was fun to watch at FSU.

i am originally from new york and a massive knicks fan

everyone knows how good TD is. everyone! hell, D’antoni litterally went out and said i have to have this kid and did whatever it took to get him to New York. He’ll play, don’t worry. He has a very good plan for him and every now and then he reminds us that and shows us how he will incorporate him into the system with class and ease next season.

i am also a big knicks fan and also originally from new york...

i was so ecstatic when the knicks got him and then just as disappointed when he wasn’t playing but i really have come to trust D’Antoni. The Knicks have had a recent history of monumental disasters in all facets of the organization,- specifically coaching and management, much akin to the Seminoles of this decade.

they have a lot of work to do to unwind the horrendous decisions they made financially and i really think that there finally is a plan is in place (again very similar to our beloved Seminoles).D’Antoni really does love TD i believe and his time will come. But we as Knicks fans must see the big picture. We are trying to resurrect what once was the basketball mecca of the world. We have to free up cap space for these big name free agents this summer if we want to have a chance to get back to winning basketball.

his time will come

Don’t know if TD can run the point in D’Antoni’s offense, but he can certainly be a Raja Bell or Leonardo Barbosa type. I think the Knicks will keep Duhon as D’Antoni needs a pass first pg, but they will surely dump Hughes and Robinson before too long.

Nash

He wasn’t a bad shooter. And I believe that if you get Lebron and/or Wade you’ll change your system around to fit them. TD = Mo Williams, and he could be better in the long run

by Volstud on Jan 21, 2010 6:52 PM EST up reply actions

nash is no longer a free agent he signed an extension over the summer

by fsunole2013 on Jan 21, 2010 7:16 PM EST up reply actions

That is a bunch of bullshit

Every moment that they aren’t playing him they are stunting his development and wasting his knees

Screw D Antoni. I’d get myself a trade to a team that has a chance and will play me

by Trus1te on Jan 21, 2010 10:57 PM EST up reply actions

oh...crap...sorry for the BS

I just got back from reffing a bball game and am still fired up at the bone heads i was reffing

by Trus1te on Jan 21, 2010 10:57 PM EST up reply actions

Seriously? Thanks for the well thought out response...

Are you a Heat fan or something? How are they stunting his development? Dude, trust me i’m one of TD’s biggest fans and have been wanting to see him play all year. TD is not a point guard at this point and has trouble running the pick and roll which is the staple of our offense. He’s learning and again….his time will come. D’Antoni has a history of not playing his rookies a lot. Jordan Hill is getting limited minutes as well.

They are trying to make a run at the playoffs and help their cap situation for this summer. I think they want to retain him long term and i think next year you will see him getting a ton more minutes

I was giving you the player's perspective

There is nothing talent wise that is keeping him off of the floor.

Just about EVERY big name in NBA basketball got about 20 minutes a game

They don’t even give him that.

He should get himself traded.

I understand wanting to be able to turn these vets, and it may be a great salary cap move, but its no good for Toney Douglas.

That is what I was getting at

by Trus1te on Jan 22, 2010 2:11 PM EST up reply actions

And D'Antoni is the 7 second guru

A blind donkey could run that offense…Run it up the court, make a pass and rebound. Get turnovers on defense…which is one of Douglas’ specialities

So no, I don’t see your argument against him not running the point.

by Trus1te on Jan 22, 2010 2:15 PM EST up reply actions

I'm with Trust1te

Toney had it all coming out of college…he doesn’t need to learn anything. If he’s not playing, he should go elsewhere. In all of Toney’s games this year he was shredding defenses at pointguard and racking up assists…same thing he did in college. What was his assist average in college? I seem to remember people referring to him as the second coming of Nash because he was so good at passing. No teams had any questions about him because his assists were so high.

D’antoni is definitely running the SSOL offense in NY. They run that stuff to a T and Toney was runnin ish when they put him in. They don’t rely on the pick and roll as the base of our offense, and we all know Toney can rock that. If I were him, I wouldn’t want to stick around for the possibility of Lebron or Dwade coming next year. I wouldn’t want to step into a supporting role for one of those clowns. He’s good enough to be a franchise player anywhere. You gotta get yours…that’s what stars like AI, Starbury, and Vince Carter showed us…teams are for “blind donkeys.” Ya’ll wanna win championships, ya’ll gotta go out on ya own son. Get it. Bitchwizzit…flex. HOT…make money. Peace …2010.

you obviously have no clue about basketball

because the D’antoni’s system is not a “blind donkeys” game. the point guard has to have superior ball handling skills and have the basketball iq to be able to make on the ball decisions on the very complex pick and roll plays that the knicks run. its much harder than it seems get on a court sometime.
