Robinson to Vikings?
In Mel Kiper's most recent mock draft, he has FSU's own Patrick Robinson going to Minnesota with the 30th pick.
I know why Robinson is being considered a first rounder - he is obviously a great talent and has an NFL body. But it's still hard to believe anyone from our defense (2nd to last in the NCAA before adjustments) would be taken in the 1st round. Either way, I wish him the best.
What do you guys think?

Our secondary
They get a bad rap for giving up big plays. But when you are back there for 6-10 seconds there is no way you can defend anyone that long. Does not matter how good you are. We had zero pass rush last year. Zero. Now some where bad, but Robinson has been a good corner for three or four years now. Did you see the play he made on Noel Divine at the Gator Bowl? Chased him down while being back 15-20 yards.
Agreed
He’s solid, just had no support on defense this year. And I was going to point out the same thing – he ran down Noel Divine in open field. Honestly I think offenses threw away from him most of the year.
"He went into this whole spiel about Shaolin monks or something like that, how we need to be like Shaolin monks and how they don't talk for 15 years and stuff." - Caz Piurowski about Coach Coley
Dominant
Robinson has had better seasons than this one, but we also had better defenses as well. Remember that. Last year’s defense was pretty good. Top 15 if I am not mistaken.
Robinson and Devine
Yes that was a spectacular play. Later on the goofy CBS announcers said Devine was the fastest player on the field. They are sooooo bad.
There was photo posted on this site of Robinson making that tackle. Pretty Cool.
You mean this one.

Pat's Soph year was better than any season Cromartie or McFadden ever had IMHO
I liked McFadden a little better overall coming out of college and he went 2nd rd. but I like Pat a heck of a lot better than Kelly Jennings out of UM from a couple years ago and he went 1st. rd to Seattle. It just all depends on how many teams badly need CB’s in a given year and how many quality one’s are available.
Thats and interesting, but probably true assesment of P-Rob's sophmore year
He will be yet another Nole who’s a better pro than college player (Thanks old staff, my apologies). While I respect Haden as a complete corner, his surrounding cast made it just a bit easier. How many guys have J.Jenkins on the other side, 2 NFL DE’s rushing the passer, and 2 NFL safeties patrolling deep. With good coaching (And P-Rob being receptive to it), and the playing field being more level, I’d like to see how each of them perform at the next level. However, Patrick has to play with more fire than he did this year. Seemed drained having to cover every teams best WR for 4.5 to 5 seconds with no pass rush, and crappy safties behind him. No one in the country was asked to do what he did under those circumstances

someone should pick up the ref 1st round...
has devine by a step here:

The ref has great top end speed
Apparently WVU girls don’t understand football. They’re so excited while the guys look pissed that Devine didn’t score.

Yes he is a first rounder
He was asked to play man, for 6+ seconds EVERY SNAP with no safety help, and pretty much did it. The wide-outs he had to go up against aren’t chumps either. Dude is a stud.
Robinson
Continues the tradition of shut down corners. We all know about the FSU CBs and their history in league. He is just had the unfortunate ability to not play with as many dominating DEs. I know Evertte Brown was a beast, but we usually had two stud starters, and then were getting the new studs their practice.
We haven't put a solid starting DB in the draft since Chris Hope
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
Cromartie had 1 year and lost his job
We were setting up these kids to fail in the NFL because they played primarily man in college and couldn’t learn zone schemes quickly enough in the pros

Agreed
I couldn’t agree with you guys more. It’s borderline impossible for anyone to cover someone 1on 1 with no pass rush. And WestCoastNoleFan brought up a good point about how he’ll be yet another recent Nole to be better in the pros than in college.
Thanks for the responses.
