FSU's Dan Hicks proud to carry on the family tradition for the Seminoles

Dan Hicks had no second thoughts about following in his father's footsteps to Florida State. His dad, Dan Footman, had 102 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 1991 and '92 for FSU, helping the Seminoles to a 22-3 record. A defensive tackle and end, Footman also played in the NFL for the Browns, Ravens and Colts from 1993-98. "I've always wanted to play here since I was little," said Hicks, a defensive end. "My dad brings a lot of inspiration to me. I want to be better than him. "For him to have a big name here and then have the coaches get on to me about your dad (and what he did) here, just pushes me to get better. That's what I take to the field every day."
