The 'Noles take on Boston College this week. I thought now would be a good time to see what Florida State is facing in the Eagles. These charts below are non-garbage time only. I am not concerned with the stuff that goes on when the game is no longer competitive.
As you can see, BC still plays very good defense, as they have for almost a decade now. But the offense is worse than what FSU fans suffered through under Jeff Bowden. The Eagles have been out-gained by 32% in non-garbage time and are -2 in turnovers as well.
To further complicate matters, BC has elected to start a freshman quarterback against FSU in Chase Rettig. Three of his top four receivers are freshmen, which doesn't exactly bode well for his chances of having open receivers to hit. On the ABC broadcast, Matt Millen called BC's receivers "the slowest group of receivers I have seen this year."

Now let's take a look at Florida State:

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Offense | Defense | Total | |||||
| Plays | Yards | Per/Play | Plays | Yards | Per/Play | Out-Gained Foe By % | |
| OU | 43 | 161 | 3.74 | 57 | 371 | 6.51 | -74% |

| Total | 269 | 1566 | 5.82 | 270 | 1230 | 4.56 | 28% |
Statistically, Florida State has the conference's best offense (6.6 gained per play in conference) and defense (4.4 allowed per play in conference). As the above chart shows, Florida State is out-gaining foes by 28% and are +1 in turnovers.
FSU has already faced two talented freshmen quarterbacks this year (BYU & Wake) and demolished them, allowing just 312 yards on 101 plays (3.1 per play!). FSU knocked out one of those QBs. In a typical 70-play game, that's only 216 yards of offense allowed. Even if BC's quality defense holds FSU's offense in check with something like 5.25 yards/play, the 'Noles would still be out-gaining BC by 70% per snap.

FSU Practice News
Ty Jones is back. Jermaine Thomas is banged up still and I don't expect him Saturday (get him some rest for the foot). Parks' ankle is still sore. I forgot to ask about Moody (had his bell rung), but I will tomorrow.
Here are some AP photos I have yet to use this week:
