ACC Expanded

Here are two suggested scenarios for Atlantic Coast Conference expansion to 16 teams. Each maintains the characteristic ACC footprint--the original 13 colonies plus Florida--while filling in the gap between Boston and the rest of the league.

In each case here you get a distinct character to the ACC divisions. Scenario 2 considers adding two service academies, This presents some problems for non-football sports and creates essentially a 14-member conference plus 2. The division shown here is based on geography, but for a variety of reasons it may be better to put one service academy in each of the two divisions and move a North Carolina school to the north.

The weakness of the Big East makes it perfectly thinkable that some Big East teams may be open to bids to the ACC. What thinks this august group? How likely are these scenarios? How desirable? What other possibilities would you recommend that Swofford consider?
