Tallahassee is getting a new sports radio station starting December 1. Here is the press release:
Beginning Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 97.9 FM will be the new home for ESPN Radio, "The Worldwide Leader in Sports," here in the Capital City. The Tallahassee based station will debut its new format operating under its new call letters, WTSM. It is notable that the station, formally known as WJZT, will become the first FM-based station in the state of Florida that features around-the-clock sports talk programming. With a signal encompassing the greater capital area, including Tallahassee, Thomasville, Perry, and Crawfordville, 97.9 ESPN Radio will deliver the sports talk radio format across North Florida and South Georgia to many locations for the first time ever.
WTSM, branded as "Tallahassee’s Sports Monster", will feature an all-star line-up of local and national personalities. ESPN personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic anchor "Mike and Mike in the Morning". The station also welcomes local personality Ron Vitrano back to the Tallahassee airwaves for "The Ron Vitrano Show," set to air weekday afternoons from 4pm-7pm beginning December 6th.
Other programming includes popular ESPN personalities Colin Cowherd ("The Herd with Colin Cowherd" weekdays 10am-1pm) and Scott Van Pelt ("The Scott Van Pelt Show", weekdays 1pm-4pm). The station will feature online streaming at www.979espnradio.com, and will heavily utilize its social media outlets on Facebook (facebook.com/979espnradio) and Twitter (@979ESPNRadio).
