There really isn't much news to report today. Florida State is now on Christmas break, and recruiting is in a dead period. That means no practice reports and not much in the way of recruiting (unless, of course, a recruit tries to commit and the staff doesn't know about it or doesn't want to accept the commitment until a later date). The offensive line carried off seniors Ryan McMahon and Rodney Hudson after their final practice in Tallahassee.
Andrew Carter makes the Orlando Sentinel the first paper to report about the injury to Andrew Datko's other shoulder we discussed a few weeks ago. He is expected for the bowl game, as is Christian Ponder. I am cautiously optimistic on both.
I posted a mock class in the recruiting discussion thread. That's been generating some discussion. DA-2 and the recruiting guys continue to do a great job in that fast-moving thread. Please do stay on topic, however, as it quickly becomes difficult to read on a mobile phone.
There were rumors that some players would be academically ineligible for the bowl game. Out of respect for them, and because I believe the rumors to be false, I will not post their names. It's certainly encouraging that all of the players should be eligible. In the past that has not been the case. FSU would seemingly lose one or two guys each season to grades. Recently, Georgia and LSU have lost excellent running backs to grades. I attribute the prevention of academic attrition to better discipline, attitude, diet, and attention to detail.
Here are some highlights of FSU commitment Keelin Smith.
