Brandon Davis leaves
Most of this article is about E.J. and the shoulders of FSU's top 2 (depth chart perspective at least) QBs. But at the bottom is a note about Brandon Davis not returning for his senior season. No mention if he is quitting football altogether, or will seek to play elsewhere. The hint, though, is he will graduate and move on.

Definitely hurts
for depth purposes. If I remember correctly, wasn’t it between him and Spurlock as starting guard before the season?
I just hope that he is the only one
and their isnt a large group leaving because of the coaching changes. Of course Cam Wade and other excess baggage can leave asap. Brandon would of helped with depth at guard though.
Davis is unlikely due to coaching change
His position coach didn’t change and being an offensive player, he was already in Fisher’s “food chain”.
The interesting thing is Davis was the last pre-Trickett holdout. He was recruited and signed the year before Trickett came on board – the only one Trickett hadn’t chased off. Likely at this point, his leaving is less about being “chased off” and more about graduating before the fall and not wanting to stay to just sit on the bench. Or maybe he intends to go to grad school at a school other than FSU – whether or not he uses his one year left elsewhere is to be seen. If the school he goes to is for a grad program FSU doesn’t offer, he could play his final year of eligibility regardless if it is Division I or not.
His being a senior eligibility wise would likely have meant for any “mop up” minutes, Trickett would have turned to guys coming back in 2011 and beyond.

Brandon Davis was the one Trickett put in the "chair" and was at one point, trying to get him to quit.
From August 29, 2009
Florida State OG Brandon Davis is now competing for a starting job on the Seminoles offensive line, but it wasn’t too long ago that Seminoles line coach Rick Trickett was attempting to run him out of Tallahassee.
“We’ve got a chair in our [meeting] room and once you sit in the chair, basically your next step is out the door,” Davis said. "And I was in the chair. But at the time I was thinking like, he can try to run me off but I’m not going to leave. I’m going to stay here.
“I’m going to fight through it.”
So Davis did. He earned the team’s most improved linemen award after spring practice and said he “really cranked it up” in the weight room during the summer. Now he’s competing with incumbent David Spurlock to win the starting job at right guard.
I agree with the others sentiment that his depth will be missed as someone who knows the system and what is expected from him, but maybe he got tired of the uphill battle. We will probably never know.

He did
He just might like to start his senior year. I get it. With his degree in hand, he can transfer to any school and play immediately.
how is FSU with grad assistants?
a thought that crossed my mind was his experience might have been useful to the younger players. He’s been in Trickett’s system as long as anyone else on the OL.
I think Trickett’s older son is one grad asst, but his time might be up after spring drills …
