Recruitment:

Not really much to put here.  Karlos has been a strong lean from just about the time he was four years old.

TN's Thoughts:

The basics:  He's a excellent athlete, a better prospect than his brother was.  Some think that Karlos will be a safety at the next level.  However, TomahawkNation believes that Karlos will be a LB at FSU, probably a WLB.  He seems to be growing at a good rate, so we expect him to get bigger before he gets to FSU.  Still others think Karlos is best suited for an offensive role, such as an H-Back or WR.

Another note:

The 'Noles are holding a Junior Day today.  Karlos is the first reported commitment.  There will also be another Junior Day on February 27th.  Williams committing might be the first of several commits over the next week.  Also, Karlos is good friends with HaSean "HaHa" Clinton-Dix, who is probably the best DB in Florida.  (And is very high on FSU.) Let's hope Karlos can sell FSU.

Great news

Get ‘em on campus, then decide where they’ll play

Been hearing about him for a while

His dad said he was slated to visit several different schools in the next few weeks so I wonder if that is still a go. It is great to have a kid coming to play that is athletic enough to suit up at so many different positions at the FBS level. That versatility will make him a headache for opposing teams.

Welcome to the Noles, Karlos!

Is Junior Day really only a day, or is it a weekend event for the recruits?

by basbalstr101 on Feb 20, 2010 12:39 PM EST reply actions

It can be either, depending on the plans of the specific weekend and the player’s importance to the staff.

by gahnki on Feb 20, 2010 5:53 PM EST up reply actions

Nice offer list

Not that we should offer a kid just because other schools have, but its nice to get recruits that are followed by teams like Bama, LSU and UGA.

The only thing to keep in mind with the WLB talk.

Is that he insists on playing S. We’ll see what wins out.

On a side note, does anyone know if players take a bus around campus? Saw a bus service with a bunch of guys with football jackets zooming around campus.

Read that Stoops

would let Karlos play S at 225-230 like Sean Taylor did for him provided he’s as agile and quick.

Interesting predicament.

Let’s say we only want four DB’s this cycle.

Who’s the last guy you all want (assuming Smith, Brutus, Williams stick- obviously that’s not a guarantee this early in the game)? Tyler Hunter, HaSean Clinton-Dix, Robenson Therezie, Wayne Lyons?

It gets interesting if Williams to OLB isn't an option

If it is, I think it’s pretty clear that we want Clinton-Dix and Hunter. Jimbo must either really love Smith and Brutus or really love that pipeline.

you have to take hunter and Clinton-Dix

If it means dropping Brutus then fine.

I wouldn't be in favor of dropping Brutus.

Maybe nudge him in another direction, but not drop him.

by Noletorious on Feb 20, 2010 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

youd have to take wayne lyons if you could too

you couldnt pass up on him…hes going to be a definate R100 lock. Hes got over 25 offers already..
great character kid……who his teachers say he always has the top 1 or 2 highest test scores on every test…and i believe he has over a 4.0 gpa not sure (but its up there).
And his junior film is very impressive…

Great (although expected) pick up!

I hope we land a few more today/tomorrow and that I end up with a few gifts the day after my birthday next week.

Sweet.

I love to see that kind of publicity for FSU when recruits are making their decisions. Gets it in their mind who they have a chance to play with.

Karlos Williams

This kid is so solid in so many ways. I am lucky enough to know him, his brothers, and his parents. He is strong academically, is a “yes sir, no sir” kinda of kid and is a tremendous athlete. He will be a huge asset to FSU football from this point forward.

What stars do you think our five current commits will have by the end of all of this?

by NoleRaised on Feb 20, 2010 1:50 PM EST reply actions

williams and pettis will be 4 stars for sure

beverly will be a low 4 or a high 3, same with brutus and smith

IMO

by tdchrisdavis on Feb 20, 2010 1:53 PM EST up reply actions

4*

Karlos and Pettis are pretty much locks to be 4* players. The others I haven’t seen much of or head much about. With the offers they all have I would the border of 3/4*.

by osceolafan850 on Feb 20, 2010 1:54 PM EST up reply actions

Cool

I like hearing good players say they want to come to FSU. I hope we pick up a couple more commitments from this weekend. (True, it’s a long time until NSD 2011, but I like positive news for the program – a little buzz will help get us “out there” a bit more.)

by Invictus13 on Feb 20, 2010 1:52 PM EST reply actions

Wow

this kid looks good. where will the greater need be in 2011: S or OLB?

safety, IMO

by tdchrisdavis on Feb 20, 2010 3:50 PM EST up reply actions

Good news with Williams

Although his desire to play safety could cause some(Good) problems. People have not been too high on Brutus for whatever reason. Anyone have an opinion on who has the higher ceiling between Hunter and Clinton-Dix? I anticipate having to go to war with UGA over Hunter(Even more than we did at the finish line with Telvin Smith), getting him will not be easy.

by westcoastnolefan on Feb 20, 2010 4:26 PM EST reply actions

I've heard the offer for Williams is as a LB

I think Clinton-Dix and Hunter have a pretty similar ceiling, which is as an all-american type player. Both have outstanding physical ability.

Speak softly, and carry a big Spear

by tdchrisdavis on Feb 20, 2010 4:32 PM EST up reply actions

We should be ok as long as we are able to hold unto our early commits then

If Williams is being offered at LB, cool. The one thing Jimbo said that struck a chord with me the most is that he indeed plans on going to battle for all these top prospects. We’ll need that type of energy when we go after Jernigan, Lemay, Marshall, Lane, and Crowell.

by westcoastnolefan on Feb 20, 2010 4:44 PM EST up reply actions

Who hasn't been high on Brutus?

I haven’t read many comments like that

We were all created to be Seminoles. This is why we bleed garnet and piss gold.

by NoleThruandThru on Feb 21, 2010 5:34 PM EST up reply actions

A few comments here and there, not a whole bunch, but a few. Just one of those things you pick up on.

Complicating matters is that everyone believes we can only take four DB’s next cycle. With us having Smith and Brutus commited and Hunter and Clinton-Dix being big targets, someone would have to get sqeezed eventually. I mean, what if Waisome wants to come to FSU, or Randall doesn’t get that UF offer and is open to switching positions? Someone would have to go elsewhere i would think

by westcoastnolefan on Feb 21, 2010 7:51 PM EST up reply actions

me

There are a lot of other guys we are after that I would rather take. I don’t want to turn away a Clinton-Dix, Hunter or Lyons and hang onto Brutus.

According to Williams himself

he’s being recruited as a safety

Anyone seen anything about if he’ll early enroll like his older brother did?

by Wild@Heart Nole on Feb 21, 2010 8:25 AM EST reply actions

All Polk County, 2nd team all state

as a DB. Think he’s earned the right to call himself a safety until he can’t crack the two-deep as an upper class man in college.

And if he can’t crack the two deep as a sophomore, he’s probably smart enough to look at other positions he can earn PT at.

Isaiah Crowell

does anyone have any idea how isaiah crowells trip went to fsu? what are out chances with him? cause that kid is a monster

by Bryce Majors on Feb 21, 2010 9:06 AM EST reply actions

He enjoyed his visit, coaches makes a good impression on him...

He even stated he would like to come back down for the spring game and see how the coaches and players do with each other as far as team chemistry, I would expect FSU to remain high on his list but more than likely will wait till NSD to make a decision, Gran im sure will be pushing hard for him. Bama as I’ve heard is his leader right now.

Great News!

Haven’t been following recruiting or Nole news the last couples weeks…still decompressing from NSD. But I just randomly signed in to TN, and Wow! Expected, but really exciting. Welcome to the Noles Karlos.

Hopefully we add some DL talent soon

We could get an early commitment from a few of them.

by tdchrisdavis on Feb 21, 2010 10:26 PM EST up reply actions

I'd say 3 DT and 2 DE.

We have 5 DT in McCray, McDaniel, McCloud, Jacobs and Erving.
We have 4 DE in Jackson, Hicks, Stevens and Jenkins.
We have 4 DT/DE, imo, in Werner, Cummings, McAllister and Dawkins. I think they all should be DE but depth issues at DT may move the latter 2 inside for the year (hopefully just this year).

We need 5 OL, imo. We’ll have 11 OL, assuming no attrition, and I think 4 of them would be seniors.

As for your LB, I’m seeing 7 players for 2011 (I’m assuming Bradham leaves early). Probably need 2 this class (Perryman and Steward would work).

Add in a QB, 2 RB (needs, imo) and we’re already up to 15 guys in what’s expected to be a small class. Maybe 20ish? We already have 2 DB commits despite having 13 DBs on roster for 2011 already (assuming no attrition). So we could feasibly take 5 DBs, but we better tell some current guys to leave if we do. I would probably take one TE but I wouldn’t be disappointed at all if we passed on WR like we did on HS RBs this year.

How many DBs you think we take? How do we make it work?

"Trick is right."

Apparently still growing.

“Williams plays on both sides of the ball in high school — he expects to play both quarterback and safety again as a senior — but he said the Seminoles are recruiting him as a safety. The 6-foot-2, 218-pounder listed offers from virtually all of the nation’s top powers: Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan and others.” — from Tally Democrat.
BEASTLY……..
