I like that you added the commits at the top of the front page. It would also be nice if you posted the commitment times and misses. These threads aren’t working well on .mobi. I liked how Fisher gave insight to his recruiting of Jones saying that they didn’t recruit him just because his family went to FSU, they recruited him because he’s good and is much needed. “this is an opportunity to blaze his own trail” If I’m a recruit, that sticks out to me

Looks like if he doesn't go with FSU
then there might have been some family pressure per some guy who is close on rivals.

he has nothing to do with him. He coaches DTs. His turf isn’t SoFla.

I believe we are a bit more stacked at DL than people want to believe. I would tell you that last year’s effort was exactly what our young guys needed.

I think this Steven’s kid is gonna blow us away next year.
Not getting Lemonier and Ferguson...
takes this class from being awesome to really good. We needed guys that can put pressure on the QB, and those two were our best bets to do that. Hopefully we can develop some of the younger talent already on the roster to fill those gaps.

To me, I think Eliot was the one "questionable" hire.
Solely due to not much of a track record. Also, a Stoops guy rather than a Fisher guy. So this is just the first part of an evaluation for him. Maybe not a Coley level recruiter, but not many guys are.
More important will be the 2nd part of this evaluation — do the guys already in the system show improvement in the fall.

I know we have a good class
but I’m really disappointed in the DL situation. We have whiffed on Lemonier, Ferguson and more than likely Smith. Hopefully we start getting in good with the top DL for 2011, if we can’t build a very good DL we will still struggle on Defense.

Perspective. Half a staff. Two months since complete overhaul of a program that hasn’t been committed to winning since at least half a decade, being as generous as I can. I know it’s disappointing, but the 2011 targets are there, as TN has been all over. Glass isn’t half-full, it’s overflowing for a team in transition.

it hurts a ton. We need beef up front on the DL. Those two were keys to getting FSU back to where it needs to be from a pass rush perspective.
Meh? Not for me. A 7-6 team losing its hall-of-fame coach roughly and
most of it defensive staff?! Go back and look at the names that are IN so far.

it will take a 10-win season to get back in the hunt with them. i don’t blame this coaching staff at all for any of the whiffs today — i blame the hole that the previous coaching staff dug. don’t forget how bad these past few seasons have been.

Exactly this staff has put together an amazing class with the little time they had to recruit
being that we only had half as many coaches recruiting all year. You add the way the media hated on us for pushing Bobby out, the fact that we were a 6-6 team and have been mediocre in a conference that has been looked down upon for years and this class is Fantastic. No other program or coaching staff could have done as well as we have given our circumstances. Be happy we are moving in the right direction and very quickly. Plus I really like the talent we have on the DL now that we are going to feed them right and teach them how to play.

I honestly thought we had a great shot at Lemonier. Ego
was probably not going to come here, but Lemonier definitely hurts.
A little perspective,
We signed the following so far:
DT: McCloud, Jacobs, Irving
DE: Cummings
C Smith and B Werner are still out there. You add last year’s class (McDaniel, McAlister, etc). They sky is far from falling.
We’ve missed on two guys so far today. I’d say we’re still having a great day.
