Let's start fresh in the new hour
I don’t want a Hialeah highjack in this thread. Its the past, and we’ve still got a redonkulous class

Exactly! We have so much more than we would have had with Bowden & Co.
Not to mention that we have so much more than I ever expected! FrankD said it best, if you thought we were going to have a top ten class when Bowden first left, yer lying!
I expect us to finish 4 for 4 on these guys
And add a sleeper or 2.
Speak softly, and carry a big Spear
We have a lot of good DE prospects next year
No need for any Eliot bashing. The guy has been a coach here for what, 3 weeks?
And in those 3 weeks we went from not even in Ego’s picture to a finalist.
With Lemonier we went from one of my to top two.
Speak softly, and carry a big Spear
Not bashing at all.
I am just saying the man better bring in a stud class next year and prove he can develop DEs or he’s toast.

We have Green left, and that seems like about it (assuming Dorsey is in)
Any potential surprise gets out there?

After watching the announcements
I’ll take Werner and his genuine enthusiasm over Smith and Lemonier any day.

Let's not kid ourselves
we’d love to have Lemonier. In two years he’ll be nasty. At least we won’t have to play against him.
by NCAROLINANOLE on Feb 3, 2010 1:00 PM EST up reply actions
Lemonier's talent is one thing
And at least he didn’t make a joke decision like Smith. But I don’t like whatever he was alluding to about being lied to with FSU vs Auburn, and Werner’s a decent player in his own right with a lot of excitement to come to FSU.
by SeminoleSkins87 on Feb 3, 2010 1:02 PM EST up reply actions
valid points
with the 100 post per minute popping up here, i’d already forgotten about him talking about FSU lying to him.
by NCAROLINANOLE on Feb 3, 2010 1:03 PM EST up reply actions
Again, I didn't hear it that way
Didn’t he just say that he had to figure out who was lying to him during the process? Since FSU and Auburn were his finalists, maybe that means that he thought that those were the two schools that weren’t lying to him.
Hope I don’t get banned for posting the same thing twice.
by csfuu on Feb 3, 2010 1:04 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
ding ding ding
He did not say FSU lied to him. They made it to the final two. He said in an interview several months ago he had a great relationship with the Auburn coaches.
Agreed...Smith talked and looked like he was on his third blunt of the morning
With Dorsey, Im a very happy guy
Wasn't the DL Coach at New Mexico, Rueben Carter the HC at FAMU earlier?
At least it seems like the smarter kids are going for FSU
Smith
NM has about ten commits with half of them being 2 stars. How in the world does Clavin spin is choice? " I felt most at home among the heat, dust , cacti and rocks "
Well, to be fair...
…it’s no more of a hellhole than Texas (except that NM has the benefit of not being full of Texans), and they get tons of recruits.
I'm wondering if there are any recruits that we might steal
or if we are just waiting on Green and Dorsey at this point and thats it.
Signature space available for rent - Got to pay the bills somehow
When did Lemonier say FSU "lied" to him?
He said it was hard to know who was lying and who was telling the truth. That doesnt mean EVERY school that wasn’t Auburn lied to him. I have no problem with Corey and his decision.
Speak softly, and carry a big Spear
I don't have a problem with him picking Auburn
but the ESPN guy asked “what made you choose between FSU and Auburn” and his answer was about Auburn being truthful. The implication was that we lied to him. I’m fine with his decision to go but I don’t like a major recruit implying that we were anything other than truthful to him.
Did you hear him and Smith speak?
They are not masters of the english language. I don’t think he is trying to imply anything.
Speak softly, and carry a big Spear
Really??
I know they don’t speak very clearly but “Auburn was truthful to me” is pretty cut and dry. I’m not freaking out here, I would just like to know what he is referring to.
He's just saying Auburn was truthful
That doesn’t mean FSU wasn’t.
Speak softly, and carry a big Spear
I heard the same thing as SU...
…the ESPN guy first asked him who the finalists were…he answered FSU and Auburn. Then he asked how he made the decision between the two schools…Lemonier said he had to decide who was lying to him and who was telling him the truth.
Pretty cut and dry right there. If both were telling the truth, why would he say he had to decide who was lying to him?
he didn't
some bonehead who was upset that he didn’t choose us twisted his words to make it sound like he said that. he said that one of the difficult things about the recruiting process in general was trying to figure out who was lying to him and who was telling the truth. the fact that auburn and fsu were his two finals suggests that they were the two schools he trusted most.
Maybe he didn't understand the question
because I heard the guy ask how he decided between FSU and Auburn. Maybe I heard him wrong though…
Nobody twisted his words
See Pinto’s comment above. He was answering a clearly asked question as to why he chose Auburn over us and that is how he answered. Ultimately its no big deal, this has taken on a life of its own.
funny that just last year everyone was dogging Auburn for hiring a no name coach. ended up with a good class this year
Canwe please move on from the guys who didn't pick us and look forward to the ones that want to play at FSU?

Some of you guys need to relax.
Remember after the USF game and the decommits from Ed Christian and Corey Miller. This was shapping up to be a terrible recruiting class. I would have never imagined FSU ending up with a top 5 class.

NM is beautiful. You’re crazy if you think otherwise. As a graduate student at the MagLab I spend a lot of time in Los Alamos, which is a sister site to FSU, which most students do not know. If you’ve ever been you would not think NM is a bad place. I say this as an FSU alum.

of the 6 that every site predicted we would get....
(Jones, Werner, Green, Dorsey, Lemonier and Smith) we’re 2-3 so far
Not whining, I said I am happy with this class. We expected to get Jones. I just don't understand where this "BIG FINISH" came from...
Christian Green and Christian Jones are both top 50 recruits.
Very few schools will get two announcements from uncommitted prospects of their caliber today, expected or not.
These "experts" have great jobs.
Shurburt was certain he was going to FSU. No one really knows what these kids will do
Remember
If titles were won and lost on National Letter of Intent Day, Notre Dame would be working on defending back-to-back-to-back titles right now.
A couple guys out of this class we think will be studs will end up being mediocre at best, and a couple of guys nobody’s mentioning will be stars. There’s no need to worry about most of this stuff right now.
Really??
Jones, Telvin Smith, Foose….you can’t get every single guy. We have a great class, even if we don’t get Green
it just means that we all put too much faith
…in what the media projects with “high confidence.” We got some promising players. Looking forward to the new era.
Second that
Two coaches recruiting for several months and we end up with a top ten class? I am more than grateful for this bounty. If we’re at full coaching power with over a year to recruit, it will be difficult to move the class up more than a few points.

Silent Commitment?

Maaaaaaaaaannnnn People
We need to look outside and see what a BEAUTIFUL DAY it is here.
Our beloved team has been BAD lately, we just shored up our coaching staff with guys I’m happy to pit up against any team in football.
We just inked a top 10 class rubbing elbows with the top 5.
We DID get LOTS of players today EVERY team would covet.
Let’s celebrate turning this thing around and not gripe about kids who are “character” issues anyway and “sure things” that were, at BEST 50-50. Go filp a coin a few times for an important lesson.
Let’s be better than the others. TRIBE THE F*** UP! GO NOLES!!!
Was really hoping to pull the AMAZING day and finish with the 4th ranked class
so mixed feelings…but honestly as long as we held what we knew we had and pulled in C Jones then this is an excellent class for Jimbo to build his program around. It’s only up from here boys!
The final ranking doesn't really matter.
The fact is, FSU football is getting a ton of positive press just from having a top10 class. The difference between 6 and 4 is splitting hairs.
Selgy
While I agree with this, the difference between 6 and 4 in our case is
a couple out of Dorsey, Lemonier, Smith, Deering, etc.
My point was I am very happy with who we have, just had the hopes up for an EVEN better day. Like I said though, I just needed to see Christian Jones put that G&G on!
I'm going to say this now.
Dorsey is talented, but I’d hated for him to be another Preston Parker (and they will play different positions)…
SCALP 'EM SEMINOLES!
I don't think there is anything wrong with being disappointed.
He’s a great player on DEFENSE. Do you guys remember how bad our defense was? We have a GREAT defensive class, but this kid is extremely talented and would’ve been huge for us. To deny that is just silly.
I just don’t see how you can’t be a little disappointed. Remember how pumped we all were when TN told us that he was an FSU commit? Now we’re expected to just say “Oh well…no biggie…our class is fine…”
You guys can say that all you wanted, but for each defensive player that doesn’t sign with FSU hurts a little bit, you gotta admit.
