Another Mike Farrell Quote for those interested:
“Werner is either going to be very, very good at FSU, or back in Germany after a year due to homesickness”
Forget that.
He picked FSU because of how close it is to Germany.

Let just hope this isnt Bud Thacker part deux
No offense but I remember Thacker being built up to being a god by some….and yes I drew the reference because they are both white.
Let's hope some little sorority girl doesn't get in his pants
ruin the engagement and send her running, with him following.
Why do we "need it"?
To finish Top 3 instead of Top 10?
Either way I am happy with this class after having 6 losses last year…
Mack Brown said a rival coach told him that UM was putting on a scam and that he’d retire after NSD. Brown said he didn’t believe it and that he trusts UM.
How do you spell gullible? U-F-R-E-C-R-U-I-T-S
Personally I dont think he retires.
I think he had a major panic attack from losing and has now gotten past it. UM has never taken losing well…..crying, going to hospital, blaming refs….the guy is the eptiome of a sore loser.
Please name ONE RB under UM that met his full potential....
or went on to a career in the pros…..
still waiting……
Besides hoping for some surprises for the Noles
I was hoping for some surprises of guys not going to UF, but so far they seem to be getting the Mack Browns, Floyds, etc. Darn them!
It’s funny. The mood here isn’t terribly enthusiastic, meanwhile McShay is praising us on TV.

National press obviously lags local sentiment.
ESPN was still coming to grips with Bowden’s decline/departure, we were already aware of the promising steps being taken by Fisher & Co.
Its because we are greedy little bitches
and rightfully want everyone to sign with us. Which they should. And we get angry when they dont. But from the outside view, we are kicking ass.
McShay certainly does have a hard-on for FSU right now.

Just looked at Tennessee's class.....WOW...that coaching change did not seem to phase them in the least.
I wish the best for TN, no because I like them but an enemy of my enemy is my friend
Hopefully they build a class that will punish UF when they play.
I'm pleasantly surprised by Tennessee's class also
Not like they where pulling anyone away from us, wish they would grab some UF leans.
I don't know...
UT and UGA killing each other still works in UF’s favor. Need all the guys to go to one team or the other. Maybe UGA will lie down and roll over though, and UT can emerge as a contender.
Jones sounded like a 12 year old going into puberty voice squeaking
Maybe he’s not done growing yet. Seemed real young in his interview
If your cable/internet provider doesn;t have a deal with ESPN just watch the Justin.tv link
If they do, you should just be able to watch it.

Being from Michigan, that shocks me.
I’ve been a Wolverine fan for a long time and that program is still a few years away from even competing in the Big Ten. We’re a LOT closer to being back than they are. I can’t imagine why any kid from Florida would come up here other than playing time.

Our big problem now other than D Line is at Safety, If Dorsey doesnt sign then what do we have 1 signed from this class?
What happened with JuJuan Harley from last year.....I thought this kid was going to be the next great thing at saftey
Supposedly an freak of nature athlete that just needed to learn the position.
THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT.
AT LEAST MANGUM SHOWED HIM THE ROPES.
Ugh.
Signature space available for rent - Got to pay the bills somehow
Why not?
He’s saying “signing day” not our class. The class is fantastic The Joyner and Luc commitments were absolutely huge, and probably speak the most of our recruiting efforts. We NEEDED to hold on to the Christians as legacy kids.
However, we started the day with 8-9 kids on our board and are currently 2-5. Green is the only one left out there. I would not call that a “big finish” or a super successful day itself. Don’t take this the wrong way…I absolutely love this class
Seriously?
I think its been beaten on this forum
Luc, Joyner, Green. I couldnt be happier. I dont see why people are losing perspective of where we were and where we are now
Agreed
We’ve been spurned more times than we’ve done the spurning…disappointing day.

Only reason for disappointment.
Is due to predicting our class thru G&G glasses (everybody is ours)
We always miss a few and get a few. That’s why is sucks for commitments to wait till last day, now we only sign about 25 and didn’t pursue another 4 -5 guys as hard as we should have.
Sorry if this has been posted but
Are there any links up for any of the Jimbo interviews (CBS or ESPN)? I loved the Werner interview that was posted but couldn’t find Jimbo. If not now then maybe tomorrow.
yeah I know
everybody was going crazy over losing Dorsey but we picked up a pretty good one today IMO
We really missed on the guys we were supposed to be solid to close with ......
Great day nonetheless, but the day had a lot of potential IMHO.
but we cashed in on a few that are AWSOME!!
Thank God for the men and women who stand tall in the night to protect this great country we love so much
I understand. Maybe this is a lesson
for all of us in “how you should not get your hopes up until they actually sign” ….
Deering would have been awesome, but he wanted to play offense and he would have never seen the field on O.
I agree with mantanga
Still a great class, but sure are limping to the finish line…and regardless of how we feel about the kids, they would have added 4* and 5* depth to the team. You can never have too much of that

Maybe Dorsey wanted to get away from the fast life style. Hopefully Michigan will be good for him.
Wish him the best of luck. He is one hell of an athlete
Dorsey is definately a thug
Preston was a play maker… Period. Yes he was a thug but the guy made people look stupid. I didnt mind having him (UM/UF have alot more then a few) at all.
I dont know if Dorsey is ever going to do anything on the next level. I cant miss a guy I never saw play in G and G.

LSU and UF seem to getting the good defensive tackles
Lower entrance requirements
This is one reason that the SEC gets SO much more top players than other conferences.

Deering, Dorsey, and Cooper at Safety :(
Smith to New Mexico, Lemonier to Auburn, Ferguson to LSU – that looks like a whiff. FSU went 1-for-4. There was a need at defensive end and it was not filled like they would have wanted to. Do you see us playing in a 3-4 next year?
I'll tell you what still bugs me however
We apparently told Copeland we were full due to some of these kids possibly telling our coaches they were coming to FSU and now a lot of those guys have bolted elsewhere.

hugely successful signing day
for the noles, all things considered. just six weeks ago there’s no way anyone thought we would finish anywhere near this high in the rankings. great job fsu coaches, especially jimbo fisher. can’t believe we have to wait 7 months (!!) to see these guys on the field again.
Successful signing day with *
*considering all of the handicaps we faced from coaching shortage, 7-6 season, transition, HC who has never been HC. Let’s keep it in perspective. The fact that we showed up on these player’s radar at all is saying a tremendous amount. Also, being #6, having our name and coach Fisher’s name mentioned on ESPN every five minutes means it is a successful day for laying the groundwork for next year. Not saying we get consolation prize because a #6 ranking is NOT a consolation prize.
Let's see if Dorsey can cut it in class enough to get on the field.
It doesn’t matter. He ain’t in hogtown.
Dorsey hurts but it's not the end of the world
We weren’t even in that discussion until a couple weeks ago when his UF commitment went south. We just need to get Green’s LOI and call it a really great class, all things considered.
Agree. Why are people forgetting ChaD Abrams, i
I thought he was going to play safety for us, and a lot of people on here are very high on him.

We were also a .500 team this past season, recruiting with a partial staff for most of the year.
a bit of perspective is in order, if we get Green, today was an excellent day.
Imagine if we didnt get Christian Jones...
This place would be in flames right now..
Come to LSU or Michigan
where the head coach might be gone in another year or two
How do you keep Rodriguez if he misses a bowl AGAIN?
Please don’t answer. Trying not to start a huge side-thread.
I agree that the deal at DE is the one that hurts the most
because we actually told a guy “thanks but we have no room for you” ….. Dorsey would have been a playmaker but needed to get out of FL, plus we have some solid guys in there. The best upgrade at safety is the departure of Mangum.
The surprises seem to have been a bit more bad than good,
but still seems to be a good class overall— particularly compared to what things were looking like at one point.
We didn’t miss by much, but Dorsey and Lemonier would have made a difference in this class. I also think Mitchell was a significant miss too.
So it’s not a fantastic day, but a pretty good class.

Some of you. Seriously:
Programs that go 7-6 three out of four years and give up winning to honor a coach for the better part of a decade don’t go 2-and-whatever on NSD. They don’t even whiff. Their fans don’t watch TV on signing day or gather on messageboards. They sign everybody’s leftovers and that’s it. This class is insane, and it’s comprised of the type of guys we want, each of whom were actually scouted to fit our program. This change of attititude has come in two months. This is the best class we’ve signed in a very long time.
by TRMNole on Feb 3, 2010 2:27 PM EST reply actions 9 recs
OK stop with the fatherly speeches.
The fact is: we felt Very strong about several guys today and whiffed on nearly all of them. I think everyone has the right to be a little dissapointed. They were all huge positions of need.
We’ve got a very good class, but it could have been a whooooole lot better.
yeah and we can all blame rivals and scouts
for jinxing the Noles by sayiing they thought we were getting the kids.
Some of those "whiffs"...
were do to already having a better player in front of them for a starting spot. At least in their uneasy eyes.
What don't you get about the fact...
that FSU had become a very mediocre program?
VERY much dissagree.
We have had the performance of a mediocre program, maybe, but we are not even close to being mediocre.
Crazy talk.
I’m sure you have at least a few people in your life – surely plenty here at TN – that have warned you, “don’t take that (pay)site seriously”, “careful what you read there”, “don’t listen to that guy, what does he know,” and once again those people were right. We’re a team barely hovering above .500 with a head coach our own school wouldn’t promote until about a month ago, and you want a top 3 recruiting class. I’m not saying you don’t have the right to be disappointed, but a more realistic perspective could have prevented some of that. Long story short: You should have breathed a sigh of disappointment, for example, maybe said something barely over your breath like, “Come on, Dorsey!” and moved on, you know? We’re not looking for the missing pieces to an NC run this year. We’re looking to rebuild a program and this class exceeds every reasonable expectation for an underachieving team undergoing a complete overhaul. See also: national reaction. They’re getting this one right.
I'm very happy and excited.....
about the Class of 2010 for FSU……Jimbo and Staff……Congratulations!!!!
Agree 100%
While I think someone was right saying that we have been playing mediocre football, that does not make us a mediocre football team. But we did have to keep our expectations realistic. I thought we could have gotten most of the last few. However, I am so stacked about this class and remember we did sign great recruits last year. Is Demps suppose to be a great safety??? Everything will work itself out. We finally have great coaches on boht sides of the ball to get the most out of our talent.
Is there seriously

Signature space available for rent - Got to pay the bills somehow
all you "glass half full" fans are disappointing me
you’re really showing how your heads have been stuck in the sand these past few years and you’re showing your ignorance about recruiting kids. please don’t think for a second that losing out to new mexico, rutgers, south florida, auburn or lsu is any kind of indictment of our current stellar staff of young, energetic, rising stars of a football staff. it’s a reflection of how far the past coaching staff drove this program into the ground.
coming off a 6-loss season and the controversial firing of a legendary head coach and the elimination of most of the coaching staff, it took a herculean recruiting effort by jimbo and coley to not only salvage some respectability, not only restock the shelves on a terrible defense, not only get fsu talked about today as the surprising star of NSD (at the same time the gators have put together one of the most star-studded recruiting classes in history), but they have rescued this program from the abyss.
to say that you are disappointed today is to say that you have no idea how far down this program is. i am more excited about the quality of this class of recruits than i have been in years. this program is on the rise and, today, i could not be more excited about this team, our class and our coaching staff. and you should be, too.
I think it was due to all the "wait until NSD" stuff
that’s been going on for the past month. It’s a very good class. But since this morning…it hasn’t exactly been a banner day. I’m not worried…just explaining the perception. HOpefully this will open up a BIG ’11.
If the day was flipped...
…and all the positive news came in afternoon rather than this morning, it would look different all around. I’m optimistic. Lots of potential with these kids.
you're preaching to the choir...
but I think expectations were higher. Right or wrong. I really like this class but understand how some folks expected more. ALL the experts were saying “wait until NSD”. I love this class though…even if it was not a remarkable day. IF we get Green…it will help with perception.
It goes to show…always under-promise and OVER-deliver. That didn’t happen today.
Some folks may be more disappointed with today than the class.
Me for example. It’s a pretty good class overall, but my response to today is based on the unknowns— players who had not previously committed to FSU. From that perspective, we’ve missed out on a few today, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be disappointed about that.
by IndyFSUnole on Feb 3, 2010 2:44 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
the "experts"...
over-inflated our expectations over the past month. The wait’ll NSD…we’re going to load up on everyone on our short list…just didn’t remotely happen. But don’t let that take away from it being a very, very good class…and about as good as we could have expected.
With some of the comments
Just Imagine if FSU class ranking would’ve been 39th at the end of NSD, how many people would have commited suicide today………Geesh people…..We have GREAT CLASS……..
you know if we did finish 39th
i think people would understand because of our situation with a 7-6 team, and only 1/2 a staff recruiting the whole year. I think we’re just getting a little greedy

Looking at the numbers I know they coaches got enough guys to fill needs
I was just hoping for more because of attrition and letdowns we have become accustomed to. I also wanted the coaches to have great 3 and 4 deep at some spots so if they wanted to rotate guys in often they could. I do not even know if our new coaches will want to do that though.
Attrition/letdown/depth
The biggest reason it sucks to lose these kids is depth. Nothing wrong with 5* being replaced by another 5*

Yes with an asterisk next to it
It is a great class because of Fisher so you got to give him credit, but it could have been the most amazing class ever if he had full control and his full staff from the beginning.
Very happy with how this class has turned out, being a fan since 2001 I wasn’t expecting to get 5 out of 8 today like everyone else. I knew 3 out of 8 would have been huge if we land Green and the fact we got Foose back from Zook is just icing on the cake.
doesn't for me and here's why
1. he wasn’t the head coach until two months ago.
2. jimbo wasn’t able to have a FULL recruiting staff that recruits the way he wants to.
3. had to overcome recruiting issues that weren’t attributable to him (bobby firing, dwindling attendance, mounting losses, andrews retiring, academic scandal).
4. the coaching staff was overhauled after the season ended. i count this coaching staff as his official first recruiting class.
to me, next year is his first official athlete recruiting class.

Counter that with questionable character and personality.....
40 yard dashes aren’t always the greatest indicator of a good football player
Besides.....no one runs a 4.18.....and he probably doesnt run 4.25....those timed 40's are crap...otherwise...every year a new record speedster would be hitting the gridiron
The kid is fast as heck, no matter what number you put by it.
He was recruited heavily by elite teams. His video is very impressive.
Big loss, no reason to spin it otherwise.
He'll actually look like he's running at light speed up there.
Going to Big Ten is not a bad strategy to guarantee your ability to stand out, if you have good speed.

Makes no sense at ALL
ESPN shows most of the top 150 are in FL, then neither analyst mentions FL as one of their top 3 or even 4 best states for talent.
Also
top 10 players by rivals all located out of Florida and top 5 players by ESPN non Florida players.

Seems like all the talent must be in Florida, Texas and Alabama
Since they all have more than one school loading up with top guys.
