Demar Dorsey

clips on ESPN. Going to Mich because of PT—lack of speed/talent on D side

Wish him well

If that’s the criteria, as it is for many.

by ladyjustice on Feb 3, 2010 3:00 PM EST up reply actions

Dorsey probably made a good move for himself by getting out of state and being with his cousin

Never heard of a recruit getting so much hate. Then folks being hypocrites saying they didn’t want him. I wanted Deering more, though Demar would’ve been nice

If you weren’t wanting every recruit in the top 10 to go to FSU, you would be crazy.

by PBD on Feb 3, 2010 3:05 PM EST up reply actions

Yes

Couple that with random grunts of frustration (Dorsey, Lemoiner, Calvin) and the “testing” and “tweaking” stretch is very convincing!

Pathetic

Some UGA fan started a twitter account just to hurl insults at Da’rick Rogers who switched to Tennessee.

I hope no Nole fans are doing anything like that to Dorsey, etc.

FSUn or anyone else,

How many projected scholarships will we have for 2011 if we sign 24 this year??

by FtLauderdaleNole on Feb 3, 2010 3:07 PM EST up reply actions

30 I think

we were going to take 29
29-24 = 5 + 25 for next year.

If there is some attrition or something, maybe more depending on the number of EEs.

by NoleLaw on Feb 3, 2010 3:19 PM EST up reply actions

know what's retarded about Dorsey going to Michigan?

Michigan doesn’t have a true safety (free safety). Their safeties creep up to LB and double as LBs. Dorsey is too small to do that. So either they change their D scheme or he doesn’t play safety.

Nothing can stop us....

by TLHWG on Feb 3, 2010 3:07 PM EST reply actions

maybe that is why they wanted him

So they can change their defensive scheme. Robinson just came in as their DC last year and maybe had to work around what he had. Their defense needs improvement so he might have told RR that he wanted more speedy guys.

by nolestuff on Feb 3, 2010 3:09 PM EST up reply actions

maybe,

but regardless a new D scheme for players to learn on an already terrible D is risky. If RR doesn’t win 6 games, he’s fired. (Actually, I heard that if Michigan loses to Notre Dame, RR’s fired.)

Nothing can stop us....

by TLHWG on Feb 3, 2010 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

Exactly.

Which is why I think we missed on some defensive guys who probably wanted something a little more concrete.

by Randall W. Spetman on Feb 3, 2010 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

Jimbo's in year 1; RR's in year 3.

Give Jimbo’s D 3 years and I guarantee we’ll be better off that Michigan’s D—especially if they change their scheme this year.

Nothing can stop us....

by TLHWG on Feb 3, 2010 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

As a Syracuse graduate

(from a family of Noles…)

Robinson is the worst coach in Division I. Period. I have no clue why any defensive player would want to consider playing for him. But good luck to Dorsey, he seems talented enough to succeed despite Robinson’s ineptness.

by wildcatlh on Feb 3, 2010 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

Urbie Recruiting

Started to think about this when Jimbo was still coach in waiting and could continue to recruit while other head coaches were only allowed a certain number of visits, etc.. Well with Urbie’s taking a leave of absence, did that allow him to skirt many of the recruiting constraints? I don’t know and jsut curious of what the NCAA rules would be in that situation. Could a coach on a leave of absense even recruit?

by PikeNole on Feb 3, 2010 3:08 PM EST reply actions

no he was still coach just on a leave of ab.

Thank God for the men and women who stand tall in the night to protect this great country we love so much

by NOLEcasterWX on Feb 3, 2010 3:09 PM EST up reply actions

I looked this up....

… and was about to post something about it, but saw that urbie’s “leave of absence” would not officially start until after NSD. Someone should do a timeline of what UF and Urban were saying about him being on indefinite leave and the recruitment of Elam. I think the official position of UF was that he was on leave of absence, but he was still making calls to Elam.

by SumoNole on Feb 3, 2010 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

whatever he did...worked

In spite of their recent success… I NEVER would have guessed that UF would have had almost no attrition. DAMMIT!!! On Dec 26…I really expected us to steal a couple guys from them by NSD. Even after he changed his mind. Got to give him credit. UF is a solid program now and sells itself…unlike a decade ago.

by PoseidoNole on Feb 3, 2010 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

change in defensive staff did not even seem to hurt them

If they were able to bring in all those new coaches late and still keep so many defensive recruits it says something about either Meyer or that program. It sucks, but it is true.

by nolestuff on Feb 3, 2010 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

Dorsey left them but he’s somewhat of an “issue”.

Now all we need is for Lou Holtz to predict a Notre Dame 3-peat and Kirk to remind us that no one should even take the field since Florida has no chance of not winning it all.

Then I come from this angle:

Did the paysite have any info that Tharinger didn’t? Everyone has access to the same people now. They didn’t all pan out this year. The paysite is a failing business model.
