Current Class Rankigs
ESPN – #6
Rivals and SCout – #10
I don’t believe they have been updated since C. Green announced so we could still rise a couple spots
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
ESPN/U already included him because he was a commitment.
Unless they started a new ranking specifically for signees, which I don’t think they did.
I've been waiting for them to update that
You would think since we got Green they would bump us to #5 or #4
I don't know, but according to rivals, his father did not want him to play football at UF.
If he didn’t want to go to FSU, he would have steered him toward ND.
Tools Whore
Urban bought them dinner when on an unofficial, which made it an official visit
and they forfeited their last official visit which they planned to USC
thanks Urban!
you big jerk. but he’s a NOLE…so thx.
uf Made his unofficial visit to gunsville official by paying for his meal
Jones then had to cancel his USC visit. Pissed off Jones’ father.

I did not get a damn thing accomplished today.........
thanks TN once again for being here for the FSU junkies. I am very excited about the future.
Urban Meyer was just on ESPNU
Dude looked terrible. I know they said he had gained 20 lbs back but it sure didn’t look like it. Something ain’t right…
i thought the same thing.
he seems completely detatched…robotic…out of it. he’s sedated……
Mizell
Since CJ Mizell failed to make it last year, Did we just not recruit him. Once you fail to qualify you basically become a “free agent”? So why would we not go after him again?
Error on TN front page?
DeJoshua Johnson is listed as a safety.
Neither of them will ever be at FSU
No more questions on those 2
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
I've heard Jimbo talk about support for the players a lot....
Has FSU given him… are team… the funds to do these support programs Jimbo is asking for? Example the nutrition program he talks about often? Btw TN is coming up on 3000 comments for NSD.
Serioulsy giddy looking at our class
I think if we started all of our DBs from this class it would be better than last years Secondary…
Probably not if they were in that same scheme
Thankfully, our scheme (and personnel) will be changing next season
>>---l>
This is FACT OF LIFE
You can not be the dishonest jerk that Meyer has been and have continued success. It always catches up to you. What will happen when these kids find out what a scammer he is? Will they stick around and lay t all on the line for him?
We are on the right track. The whole world saw how to beat Meyer last year and, mark my words, the unraveling has begun. Top recruiting class or not, being deceitful, manipulative and disingenuous never works over the long run.
it doesn't seem to be catching up with him at all...
which I don’t get. he’s made of teflon. dull, boring, uninpring teflon. that might be M.I.A. soon. And yet…he signs the highest rated class ever. wth? i get it that uf has been great lately…but with the defections there and his situation…the sick class that he signed today…makes me sick. i hate UF!!!
The Sugar Bowl was a start.
He’s never been with a team thins long. Keeping it together is harder than bouncing onto the scene with a splash and surprising people. I know this sound really homer, but i believe it.
I meant the game against Bama
The Sugar Bowl was a freak out of bizarre situations. I’m closing the laptop now. so I don’t show my ignorance any further….
Why is it surprising?
These kids have watched them win 2 out of last 3 national titles. Law of recency. That’s why they know at 15-17 years old. The leave of absence turned out to be just a speed bump as Meyer did great damage control.
You’ll see the true impact in 2011. He’s lost an OC, DC, WR coach plus tons of talent to the NFL. Only a matter of time.
by FtLauderdaleNole on Feb 3, 2010 5:24 PM EST up reply actions
Reminds me of us in 2000
We lost Richt and Amato, coming off great run. Between replacing assistants with incompetent guys and poor talent evaluation and development, we fell apart.
I’m not impressed with Meyer’s replacements. He himself is no lock to be there next fall. I won’t be surprised if his “leave of absence” ends up more permanent.
by FtLauderdaleNole on Feb 3, 2010 5:27 PM EST up reply actions
By all accounts...
he’ll be back. and the “health issues” aren’t remotely serious. it’s becoming more and more clear that it’s an anxiety issue. anyone notice how sedated he’s been since December? MEDICATION. now maybe that will hinder him…but time will tell. i do strongly believe he will be back…and past next season…
it wasn't literally a joke
but he didn’t have a heart attack, he said “it’s not life threatening”…and they’ve kept it under wraps. and he appears to be on a sedative…e.g. XANAX. Panic attacks and generalized anxiety is the most likely culprit.
I don't believe what he said
Mainly because he kept it under wraps like that. I think anxiety resulting in chest pains and 9-1-1 calls constitute a serious medical issue and an unsustainable lifestyle in coaching.
>>---l>
He's a type A personality
Complete control freak. No way he can run that program any other way. Even if he’s taking medication, there are still health issues there (along with family/quality of life). I truly believe he held it together to get through NSD.
Also, FSU and UM essentially gave him full control of the state of Florida for a good 5-8 years. Same for Tennessee, Bama in the SEC. That won’t be the case any longer. All these programs are rebounding.
by FtLauderdaleNole on Feb 3, 2010 5:34 PM EST up reply actions
said he'd absolutely be coaching next year...
today on ESPN. said he’s excited about the future. we’ll see…but i’d bet he coaches there for a minimum of another 3-4 years. they’ve got more talent than anybody.
I doubt he is going anywhere, unless it is on a stretcher. He can't walk away. IMO he will be back.

I want to cause his next breakdown.
Is that harsh?
My values: I love my wife, admire my dog, and believe very deeply that Bobby Bowden and Paula Dean were separated at birth.
Also USC last year
Their loss of coaches seemed to finally hurt them. Then again had Carrol stayed on they may have rebounded this coming year. We will never know though. It may have continued downwards.
surprising only because
Urban tried to quit….still seems unstable…and they lost a ton of key coaches over past 2 years. Not surprising that they did very well…suprising that they signed arguably the greatest class of all time.
they promote any team that wins that much
remember USC in the early/mid 00s…i started to think “SC” stood for Southern Cal instead of SportsCenter!
Coaching Losses will hurt
Just like losing Mullen hurt his offense. Mullen was with Meyer for a long time. Strong’s defenses were dominant. They will definitely have issues next year just getting everyone on the same page. You might say the same about our defense if the old staff wasn’t so bad. Gators will suffer at least two losses next year and are a 50/50 to play for SEC championship.
i am excited at the level of coaching that will match this talent.
this website (and this year’s defense) really opened my eyes to a problem in that department, and these new coaches seem like they are really going to take this raw talent and create a monster
CONGRATS FSUn and friends for a wonderful job!
been sitting here at the puter since 10;30 this morning. kudo’s to the new staff. was just going over the last 3 -4 recruiting classes and even being the cautious old fart i am, i really feel that if J.F. handles the step up and our guys are able to learn the new system quickly, we are better than anyone on the schedule except perhaps the turds okies. gonna be a long hot summer. GO NOLES.
p.s. hope i havent hijacked anything, seemed slow for the moment, so i typed. thanks again, guys.

Meyer did get an incredible class
Half of the kids came because of the recent history. But have one getting ripped by Bama for the next four years. If you even make it to the SECCG.
I feel sorry for them though. Next year marks the decline. They will fall farther than Ron Zook could of ever brought them.
no chance.
their class is so loaded with defensive firepower…no amount of poor coaching could make it bad. And they’ve still got a good staff. Their DL will be SCARY.
Is that a joke?
Highschool talent means absolutely nothing after signing day. Half of his recruits could have off the field issues or more importantly like 60% of all 4/5* recruits they really dont ever do much.
Hes got Highschool studs and one of the best if not the best signing class ever. I am currently only worried about the kids who have played a college game or participated in practice at least.
by numberonenole on Feb 3, 2010 5:36 PM EST up reply actions
if you think recruiting means nothing...
I don’t know what to say. and most of their kids are qualified and don’t have too many “known” character issues (Willie Williams/Fred Rouse types). Both FSU and UF SEEM to have done well on character this year.
agreed
Every year we have at least two kids with a couple prior run-ins. I didnt mean recruiting means nothing. Probably a poor choice of words. I meant after signing day, a recruits highschool status means nothing. Its all about spring practice then.

ON THE OTHER HAND, our class is still outstanding
All but 3 of our recruits are on the defense. 7 of our guys are in the top 150 players on espn.
we have a little bit of an international flair , luc, werner, and onwukaife
i think we got some quality players that will be a close knit group.. and very special!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is very, very good
About as good as we could have hoped for given recent performance and the transition.
2010 Class
Who sees the field this fall? Luc- immediate impact…Joyner-immdiate impact….Cummings- contributor….continue
It'll be fun to see
The defensive slate will be wiped clean. The best performing players will play.

Also,
while this is probably wrapped up for today, I would not be surprised if there are indeed a couple of more surprises in the near future. Surprises that I cannot talk about since it is was discussed in private, but I am sure most of you know what kind of surprises might come around after NSD.

and don’t see many (any?) big names left in the Top 150.

I never understood, do kids not have to sign on NSD if they don't want to?
Can coaches continue to recruit these players?
From the little I know, no they don't have to sign today, but they are risking getting shut out.
If I remember correctly, I think April 1st is the last day to sign. If I am wrong, I am sure someone out there has more accurate information.

Jones is a FSU alumnus...

Number for 2011
Early look at what FSU should take
QB: 1
RB: 3
WR: 2-3
TE: 1
OL: 4-5
DE: 3
DT: 3
LB: 2-3
CB: 2-3
S: 2
That would be 23-27. We can take almost as many as we want since we only have 20 this year (4 EEs) but the total scholarship limit could hold us back from taking 30+
Speak softly, and carry a big Spear
Need some offensive playmakers next year...
wasn’t a need this year…but it will be in ’11. big time.
Offensively?
How would you rate our offensive talent overall for this class? Honest assesment? Top 15?
Our class is highly rated...
overwhelmingly due to the defensive side of the ball. Which is fine. It just means we’ll need to focus on O next year.
We are trying to make up for all the years we didn't use the TE. I would not be surprised to see us use some 4 or 5 TE formations.

Why? Didn’t Auburn take in 32 today or did I not read that correctly? Also I thought the SEC was capped at 28,no?
So from this class...
Who are the guys who can contribute right away. Defense is in such need of improvement, can guys like Joyner, Luc, Jones and others make an instant impact or we looking at next year for a dramatic improvement?
Somebody correct me if i'm wrong
But I believe at one point this season Darius Cummings was pushing 20 sacks. I was expecting there to be some more buzz about his senior year but it never came… Both he and Bjorn will probably get PT
He told him that he had a dream and god had choosen for Ronald to come to UF. I heard that on the Dan Silio show this morning.

All these posts about being disappointed
about this years class. I think that some of you may only be casual observers and arent aware of the effort that the SMALL coaching staff has put in to get this class together. On top of that the drama that has surrounded the program for the last year slowed the acceptance of our now current staff.
A) The closes ACC team to us is UM at 13<—-yes that is freakin 13! No where near us and we took a kid right out of there back yard.
2) To continue what i stated eairler about the status of the team throught the year. We were 39th not to long ago in the past(about a month) and today we are 6th(possibly 5th). Im not gonna explain in depth, but we only had about 5 or 6 guys out there and most teams have double that! And we still pulled 8 freakin espn 150’s.
D) If you ever say it was just a so so day or we could have done better…. Yes we could have but for GODs sake we have to take baby steps before we walk, then walk for a while and then we can RUN. Baby steps, baby steps
In closing, all you nay sayers keep you comments to yourself and catch a ride on the hateraid train. We are moving foward and the NOLES had a great day today.

I had that link once today I should have book marked it. I can't find it now
I listened to Fisher’s whole interview. I would have never listened to BB’s blathering. Fisher is a genuine guy. It was refreshing to see a head coach who knows exactly what each recruit is about and how they fit into the system, what their attributes are what he expects from them.
He is very different as in rapid fire answers. He is hard to keep up with and his fingers keep tapping the podium like he is on Cuban coffee. I imagine it was a very stressful day for him also.
" Fisher’s approach to building a winner is lifted from Saban’s playbook. Right down to the terminology such as becoming more "process oriented" as opposed to "results oriented."
" Nick and I are friends," he said. "That guy is one of the best football coaches I’ve ever been around. God knows he’s brilliant. … A lot of the things he believes are a lot of things I believe. We’re very similar!

I imagine Will Tye is the best recruit we got if Jimbo mentions him like that.
Tye and Werner don't get enought credit
I really believe Tye could play receiver if they wanted him too and I think Werner could play defensive tackle. These two don’t have star ratings but I believe will be big time players.

Trickett killed the old staff and it was great.
That’s what we need, identify the problem and crush it to pieces. I am full of G&G coolaid
Lay off Bowden
He is gone, and do not forget who brought Fisher and Trickett to FSU, or who made the expectations so high for the program. No need to get ugly.
He did not bring Fisher in. The administration did. He fought tooth and nail to save the job of his son
and ran the program into the ground over the last ten years.
Tools Whore
When his son was done though
He wanted Jimbo Fisher because Terry recommended him. Oh, and use perspective. As much as I am hyped about the new staff, they have not won a game with Fisher as a HC yet, so let us remember that before acting as if he is better than Bowden ever was.
What's your point? You don't think Jimbo will win a game?
The continued blind defense of Bowden’s non-performance in recent years is nonsensical
Get over Bowden he is not the coach any more and his progeny will never coach at FSU

I was not specifying you
and you can hurl insults about panties, but someone who uses common sense is much more of a grown man than some young punk ** who lose perspective is all I am saying. Bama fans love Nick Saban, but they also still have love for what Bear Bryant did and would not ever take that away.
I did not hear the stuff the coaches before the end of the S&C coach said, but I doubt it is as bad as some of you are making it out to be.
"I did not hear the stuff the coaches before the end of the S&C coach said, but I doubt it is as bad as some of you are making it out to be."
It is. You should probably listen before making dumb statements like this.
It’s CLEAR that Bowden let things get completely out of control. Nobody is equating Jimbo to Bobby, but it’s obvious that you’re going to twist anything anyone says to fall in line with your line of thinking.

Here is where I am a bit confused
We are all giddy because we ranked 10th in recruiting (per Rivals) with a 3.50 average
but in 2009- we were 7th with a 3.62 avg, in 2008- we were 9th with a 3.33 avg, in 2007 we were 21st with a 3.20 avg, and in 2006 we were 3rd with a 3.68 avg.
How is our class any different than years past? We were better in 2 and maybe 3 of the past 4 classes than todays. If anything we should have had a better class this year because we had 2 very highly ranked legacy recruits.
It's what our new staff is going to do with these players
and the circumstances they were recruited under.
Because now we have Coaches to make sure these guys stay in school and develop
Whats so hard to understand. All of that talent was wasted these past years
because the 10th rank recruiting class you see
was supposed to be ranked 39th. It was pulled in together by 5 coaches as oppose to 11. And now these kids actually have coaches and a system to develop them.
you mean there was no system last year?
and no coaches?
In some instances, yes very much so
"Kill a fly with an axe"
by SteadfastNole on Feb 3, 2010 9:08 PM EST up reply actions
semantics
they had a system but it was well out dated. Fisher’s said it, today’s football is different than the football of 5 years ago. And no, these kids did not have coaches by definition. They had figureheads, but very few men to “coach” them, to teach them. Take a look at myron rolle. He takes a year off of football, and goes down to the senior bowl and is “coached” for ONE WEEK by the dolphins coach, and is wowing scouts. So much so that they are saying he is a better player now than he was at FSU. What did he do on the field at FSU, average at best
I believe Rolle wowed him with his shape and physical conditioning
all things he possessed while he was in Tallahassee
From Myron
“I don’t think this week could have gone any better. The scouts who talked to me, they were all very impressed. They thought I was a better player now than I was at Florida State.”

You will always have kids in your class that come from rough backgrounds with a some character issues
Its a fact, all teams deal with it, the key is offsetting that with high character kids. Something we did well with this year.
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
a lot of the kids from those classes
never made it to tally or never contributed.
BUT if you insist on using the rankings, we have 8 ESPN 150s this year, had 5 last year (only four made it in), and 5 the prior.
you've brought this up 3 times now
look at the ENROLLED rankings. The ones without drug dealer mizell or downs or phillips. Then tell me that star average was higher.
Also i assume your talking about the rivals ranking which is based on points.
We would be ranked higher than we are if we had more commits.

and they would have been high maintence recruits
Exactly my point
They had no real loyalty to us.

Lol agreed
a lot of people wont be satisfied until we land all 150 of the ESPNU top 150. But in defense of the pessimist. A lot of outlets were doing a good job of getting everyone’s hopes up.
we cant sign 150 duh
#’s 1-28 will do I guess

No, they'd notice if we did. If UF or USC did, they most certainly would NOT

Lol youre right
We’re probably going to get in trouble for only signing 24
Something else the NCAA hasnt noticed
is how some recruits have said they have received phone calls every day this week from coaches even though its been a dead period.
The NCAA has proven to be toothless when faced with programs who cheat
The USC case challenges whatever credibilty they still have

I'd like to see
Our final class vs. one of the first mock classes created in February or March of last year—just for fun. We ended up with most of the big names identified back then. i.e. Joyner, Jones, Green, etc.

It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
This program isn’t impressive right now. It will be elite again probably within 18 months, but not today.
It’s weird for the websites who cover it. I try to write and remind people that we shouldn’t accept mediocrity, but other sites sort of pump up this idea that we will get 10 5* commitments. That’s not going to happen unforunately.

If anyone is interested and not recruited out, I just posted a fanshot where you can watch Jimbo's entire afternoon press conference.

It is over 40 minutes long, but AC broke it down into 3 parts.

Thank you much.
I need to get off this site, or else hand in a written excuse to my professor from TN for my paper not being done.

Does anyone know our interest in Eric Young? are we going to go after him
Trickett
I would imagine he add a lot about what has went on around there the last few years. He is no doubt breathing a sigh of relief. Hard to imagine watching Fisher being told he has no authority by the likes of Chucky.
The process begins!
