Florida loses new DC to Buffalo Bills
Nice that they guy waited till after NSD to make it official. Poor kids have no idea who their coach is going to be. Sad part is they probably don't even care as long as they are in Urban's dreams.

This is great news.
Hopefully an indication that December’s train wreck is still somewhat visible once inside the belly of the beast?
Well, either...
A) He’s chasing money
2) He likes coaching in the NFL more than college
3) Something is a’ brewin’ in Gainesville that led him to leave
I, for one, love conspiracy theories. Bring on 3.

Alternatively
They could of “hired” him to appear stable knowing full and well that this would happen.
Well, Gailey was hired as the Bills HC after Edwards was hired by UF
So its hard to see how they knew this would happen. That being said, i think they guy was offered the DC position by Gailey a while ago and still strung these kids along until after their LOI’s were in. Pretty ridiculous to announce that your leaving the morning after NSD though. Guess the guy really is a Gate at heart.
I'd believe that.

As much as I want bad things and unrest to be present at UF that doesn’t ever seem to be the case lately. I’m sure this was calculated, however it plays out.
Edwards did virtually no recruiting while other staff members hit the ground running.
Also, Urbie mentioned and thanked every OTHER coach in the staff at the close of NSD in his press conference. Not Edwards. This writing has been on the wall for some time now.
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
You may not realize it but Gailey is a UF grad
He was doing the old alma mater a favor. The whole thing is pretty shabby. But hey that is something for UF recruits to figure out.

I've Said it Before and I'll Say it Again
Every kid dumb enough to sign with UF deserves what he gets. Let’s see is Meyer indeed hurts himself for Shariff Floyd…..
This is the kind of stuff I've been talking about
Now, when Meyer’s health dictates he needs to rely on his asst coaches more… he has to learn all new ones. It’s too bad for the kids who bought into his clap trap.
Again, much tougher to maintain excellence over the long haul. There is no evidence UM can do it.
Chuck Heater is the co-DC.
Simple promotion. Sounds like Urban knew this was a possibility. Probably not a huge deal IMO. Heater gets promoted, end of story. Although the fact that Edwards is now an NFL GM is very impressive, so that may factor in.

Agreed on Heater
Don’t think it effects the X’s and O’s too much. It is interesting though that a lot of these recruits got to know Edwards and probably bought into his NFL pedigree and whatnot, and now he won’t even be their coach. Don’t think it hurts UF at all, its just interesting to see more of the same manipulation in Gainesville
I know there's some nice talk here, and I'm not disagreeing, but I'll talk some ****.
As far as UF’s end of this: Straight up dirty. Someone find me where the kids were told they wouldn’t be playing for the young, black DC with NFL experience. The man was a place-holder, pure and simple. You think Buffalo hired a GM overnight?

They are teaching the kids what commitment means in Gainesville
This is a good lesson for people like Matt Elam. First his american idol, Meyer, sings him a eulogy about what it means to be true to your word… on the heels of a reversed retirement announcement… in the wake of a nervous breakdown… after finally getting beat the **** down.
Now one of the true coaching anchors of the team, who was surely a part of Meyer’s song and dance, bolts for the NFL a day after national signing day. This was one of the guys Meyer’s billed as being the one to step in and not lose a beat for Charlie Strong.

It's why I had no problem thinking Urban was gone.
Why I know he won’t be there long-term. He doesn’t recruit with long-term interests in mind. Who would do something like this if he cared anything about building pipelines for even 5, 10 years down the road? Not that he acted alone of course. Edwards is a Spurrier guy. Make no mistake: This is UF all the way.
I wish
Someone would write up something for the entire CFB community. Its sad stuff like this goes unnoticed by most. If it happened in Tally, ESPN would have it as their top story for three weeks.
We have to do something about this BIAS!

But it isnt.

Don't be so sure, unless I'm misunderstanding your comment.
He can’t get it piped into SportsCenter, but if he wants to, he can make news of it.
Are you meaning, outlets can ignore the story because it’s UF? Well, sure. But the target of this story isn’t college football fans sitting in their living rooms. It’s high school football players and their parents. Media has evolved.
Not referring to FSUn.
The target of this “story” would be to shed some light into the recruiting practices at UF.
I dont get what you are trying to say. Media has evolved….. Pretty standard statement.

careful what you wish for
Setting: Prospect Living Room
Urbie: Son, at the University of Florida commitment is the word we live by. I am back for good now, and everyone on staff is ready to go.
Unsuspecting 5*: So you mean that I will get to play with coach blah blah blah?
Urbie: You bet ya!
Urbie: (Tebow sense starts tingling) What is that under your shirt???/
Unsuspecting 5*: Nothing sir (feeling scared now)
Urbie: (Ripping open kid’s polo shirt and turning to look at other Gayturd coaches) SHIT! HE’S WEARING A WIRE!!!!
Urbie upends the coffee table, jumps over the sofa, and the prospect is never seen again Lukabrazzi style.
Definitely just some miscommunication here. Sorry about that - frustrating online.
Let’s just say everyone (future recruits, coaches) that need to know are aware by now, and national blogs have already decided to run with the story or not. I have no inside on this, but I know FSUn’s work, i.e., this is based on a hypothetical that FSUn would feel compelled to run with the story. As for national, mainstream, ESPN top-story coverage, you’re right – never going to happen. We started on different premises, and I’m not trying to disagree with that premise. “Media has (have?) evolved,” simply meant, we truly don’t need that ESPN top-story coverage to register Matt Elam’s current heart rate to a blue-chip junior witnessing a circus at the flavor-of-the-week Big 3 with another Big 3 on the rise. You’re correct, “Media has evolved,” as a cliche would have been lame – I hope I’ve explained what I meant.
It will hurt them on the recruiting trail in the future
That is about the best we can hope for
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
I hope some of you guys are joking
People can’t seriously think this is some sort of violation right? Nothing is wrong with this dude leaving for another job, just wish it would have happened in the middle of them recruiting for 2011. I doubt UM hired this guy knowing he was going to go back to the NFL, but I am sure he told him to keep it quiet until after NSD and I don’t blame him. I hope Jimbo would have Stoops do the same thing if the shoe was on the other foot.
i dont think anyone thinks its a violation
its just dirty lol. You bounce right after signing day. May be a sign of things to come with urban perhaps.
I would lose respect for Jimbo...
… if he knowingly lied to recruits about a coach staying/leaving. Bobby never would have, and I doubt Jimbo would either.
Jimbo encouraged recruits to take other visits, he had confidence. Confidence in reality is a strong selling point. Integrity is a strong selling point years down the road. Lies are a strong selling point right now, but hurt you long term.
You're the first reference to "violation" in this thread.
Now, check for dirty, untrustworthy, scheming, etc., etc., you’ll score some hits.
This is too convenient not to have been a well planned move

I am telling you it is simple
Chan Gailey, former UF quarterback conspires with UF administration to have his new hire stop over at UF briefly to hold recruiting class together before leaving after national signing day.

Rent-A-Liar
You nailed it Dholiday2. Here’s how it went down…Deep in the bowels of the Gator’s Administrative Offices, Jeremy Foley and FU’s Boosters held an emergency meeting. Under the cover of darkness, and with their NCAA contacts securing the entrance of the posh offices at the Gator’s Florida Field headquarters, another grueling marathon session was held with their convalescing head coach. Having already snookered the confused recruits with the rouse of Meyers miraculous recovery (evidenced by the appearance of his recent suntan), they needed to scramble to feign stability with what was the continued unraveling of their coaching carrousel. In no position to find a legitimate candidate in the current tumultuous market, they hatched “the plan” to close the barn door and keep the easily-spooked herd safely corralled. The plan was simple…enter into a short-term “Rental Agreement” with a legitimate D-Coach and have him go out and blow smoke-up these impressionable young kids. Although everyone in the UF Administration knew their D-Coordinator was leaving the day after NSD, they continued to lie to the recruits and the coach continued to tell them what great plans he had for them. If I were one of these kids’ parents, I would sue UF for deliberate misrepresentation. The question for UF is, “What did they know, and when did they know it!” Buyer Beware.

Is there ANY reaction from the recruits about this??
For sure they thought they would have this guy as a coach, right?
Oh, so you work for the athletic department, then.
So tell me, what color is Coach Meyer’s office? Orange and blue, or red with the blood of all those fine OOC pre-season athletes they… um… assist with national exposure?

When U.M. suffers a nervous breakdown & $h*t$ his pants on the sideline…..

If you are at my house when it happens...
you’d probably see me $h*t$ my pants laughing at him. However, Id rather you not be there if I do though… Ive got like a 25 year streak going (I’m 28, for perspectives sake; if I was 50, that’d be weird), and if I break it for that economy sized bag of douche, I’m gonna be kinda upset.
But the dude deserves it, not because of karma (well…that too), but because he knows the risks and does it anyway. You play with fire…. you get burned, and I don’t feel sorry for you because you are dumb enough to play with fire.
And if you haven’t noticed, I can ramble with the best of them.
