Inside look at final day of recruiting
ESPN has a good article about the coaches on NSD. Some funny bits in there and some interesting pieces showing how close some kids were to go to other schools.

Love a coach
Thats in the ‘know’ and lays down the law
“That doesn’t leave this room,” Fisher said, while looking at several of the team’s graduate assistants. “Understand that ga.com? I know the [Internet recruiting sites] are giving supplements to somebody. They’ve got a source in this room, and I’m going to find it. When I do, I hope they give you severance while you’re walking out the door.”
"Kill a fly with an axe"
There goes all the info before next year's NSD
Fisher is going to have it locked down.
2 takeaways for me:
1. Fisher telling Foose that Trickett is now going to yell at him. After watching the NSD party when the coaches were introduced, Trickett is my favorite coach.
2. Dorsey calling FSU coaches late Tuesday night telling them he’d be signing with the ’Noles. Just wow.
Nothing can stop us....
We called it! Right here on TN! We did it!
“Are you happy?” Fisher asked Foose, the only offensive lineman the Seminoles signed. “I’m ecstatic. We need you down here and you’re not going to regret it. We’re going to get you to knock open some holes for these skill guys to score touchdowns. We’re going to build a great class around you. We’re going to coach you up, and you’re going to make a lot of money when you leave here. Welcome to the family.”
“I’m going to let you talk to Coach Trickett,” Fisher told Foose. “He’s going to start yelling at you right now.”
Fisher handed the phone to FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett, a former Marine, who is known for his rugged coaching style.
Trickett took the phone into the hallway. At the end of their conversation, Trickett told his new lineman, “Now, look, when you get out of class today, you get your rear in that weight room.”
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
I loved that part of the article
These guys really know what they are doing and can express their thoughts with humor as well as excoriation. I also enjoyed Jimbo’s statement about Leminoir (sp?) to the effect that he was confused and that his computer was “locked up”.
I am stoked by this. Thanks for the link.
That was a first for me.
A kid who actually wants to go to school close to home, and his folks force him away. Odd…
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
Yup, there go the sources for 2011 NSD
However, I believe we gbout a little bit outrecruited towards the finished line. I’m glad we didn’t get Smith and/or dorsey, but I think Lemonier could have been a stud in Tally. I also understand FSUn’s analysis of NSD, but I can’t believe we were arrogant enough to say “NO” to somebody when we didn’t know for sure what the future brought. Maybe a silent commitment or something … IDK.
i dont think its arrogant
i think its honest. At least we arent telling kids to come, then cut them during training. Or this could have been the coaches nice way of saying, “hey we’re just not that in to you.”
ughhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why do I always make the mistake of reading comments on ESPN?
Funny thing about the line of scrimmage, it’s where games are still won and lost. Everyone in the South knows how bad FSU OL recruiting has been the last several years and care to guess how many linemen they got in their 2010 haul, one-Danny Foose. And Foose was a three star that they didn’t get a committment from till signing day. Not to say FSU’s class wasn’t a good one they probably got two of the top 5 linebackers in the country but, I just don’t see this class being that high considering the need on the OL was and has been so critical.
I know fans of other programs don’t follow FSU but if you are going to rip on a team at least make sure you know what you are about to say. FSU may not recruit 5* and 4* O-Linemen but Trickett has been applauded the last couple of years for having one of the best and youngest OL in the nation and next year they will all be Juniors and Seniors and will dominate for one of the best offenses in the country. Posters like that make my head hurt.
I'm looking at the positive side...
those folks are good to wager against.

Exactly why I stopped reading comments on ESPN
Most of them are gayturds anyway. Which explains their total lack of football knowledge
Yeah, I replied to that guy
to tell him pretty much the same: look up stats and players before posting asinine comments like that.
Thanks for linking to the ESPN article again
These inside looks are probably my favorite 2 articles this year.
And though I feel people’s pain about “the one’s that got away” I realize just how difficult a decision a job it is to convince kids to come to your school. I was never a recruited athlete and I still remember how hard it was to pick a college. I had narrowed my choices to two and waited until literally the last day. I was nervous, washing my face in the bathroom and staring at myself in the mirror with my mother yelling at me from the other room, “What’s it gonna be?!?!” I went with my gut, made a choice, filled out the letter and sent it in. I can’t imagine how much more complicated it would be by having role models in your ear and doing their best to sell you on their institution. Even Telvin was sweating it out in a BK parking lot. Amazing story. Great class. GO NOLES!
