Florida State Linebacker Coach Greg Hudson spoke to the media for the first time this year. This might be the last time he speaks to the media for some time due to the "one voice" policy. This comes to us courtesy of Andrew Carter, who has really done a nice job recently. I've embedded part one. To see parts 2-5, please check out his post. And his thoughts on Hudson are here. Hudson was very talkative and had a good time with the media. He's an engaging personality.
Hudson doesn't need to prove anything. He's already shown that he is an excellent coach. He is intent on making FSU's extremely talented linebackers getting back to fundamentals, as they did under Kevin Steele. He has a lot of "un-teaching" to do after what Chuck Amato did to them (telling them to "go make plays" at the expense of proper technique, fundamentals, keys, and angles). That is, he wants great plays to come as a result of excellent assignment execution within the framework of the defense and not due to freelancing. It's especially encouraging that Hudson wants big linebackers who will take on (and shed) blocks. I'd be surprised to see the average weight of the starting 'backers under Hudson come in at anything less than 235 lbs.
