Air Force off of Florida State’s schedule in 2011 and 2012
According to Spetman, Air Force wanted out of those games and FSU agreed to let them go. FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said recently that he believed in a softer scheduling philosophy.

And Florida too while we're at it?
Losing Air Force was a no-brainer for more reasons than we could count. Not starting this debate again, but don’t equate the WVU series to that fiasco.
Did you need to be a smart ass about it?
One of the many attributes about this site is there is usually not much of this going on. Disagreements, yes, but lets go easy on huh?
Well good, maybe next time you'll - .... Wait a minute...
You like TN because of its lack of smarta**es? Did I miss something in the last 24 hours? But seriously, I didn’t mean to pi** you off, I was just sayin’. But anyway, in reference to sarcasm, all I can do is offer an apology and my best impression from Jim Breuer’s and Tracy Morgan’s late-90’s skit, Wong and Owens, Ex-Porn Stars: “This is all I know, man!”
I agree.
WVU will most likely be down at that juncture but without SOS playing any significant role in the BCS there is just no need to play them. A single game in Tally, maybe, but a home and home makes no sense to me at all. Besides with CJF being a native, Morgantown will most likely be on fire the night we play them (and yes I mean the couches too).
I would love to see the series moved, no question.
USF is the problem here. USF, BYU, Oklahoma, Air Force all crammed into a four-year span is the problem. I’m pretty sure that’s never been argued by the regulars here. But you’d better believe SOS will matter when we’re one of five teams that finish with one loss, and our only signature wins are over Florida and the two ranked ACC teams on our schedule (you hate reading it – I hate typing it). So I’ll maintain that WVU is the perfect home-and-home series for a team that will not be given a pass by the media, will not be given a pass by its own fanbase, and will not be given respect for its conference championship by anyone, no matter how impressed we’ll be here at TN. We’ve gotten caught up in some foolish, nightmarish schedules and scared ourselves senseless.
schedule
i think i heard a couple of years ago that to prevent a lawsuit with the acc and big east, the deal was for acc schools to schedule one big east team home and home and we got west virginia
I feel like I've heard that as well.
We already started one up with USF, though. So, WVU and the Big East can suck it.
MiNDSET? SWAG-ER-ISM!!!

"Trick is right."
"Wherever you are, Trick, you are wise, indeed."
I hope we can fill the void with FBS competition.
And not FCS. Let’s take some steps, not leaps.
I don't ever want to play DI-AA teams.
Load up on North Texas, Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida International.

Kind of bummed about this. I was planning on attending the game in Colorado Springs. Being up here in Canada, that was going to be the closest game for me. Well better start saving for a trip to Tally.
where in Canada?
I’m in Ottawa and Ive only ever gotten to see them play in Syracuse back in 04 I think?
I'm in Winnipeg
Hope to get to a game in 2011. I was surprised how expensive it is to fly to Tallahassee
How much
did you have to pay them, on top of what we’re already paying them to drop the game, in order for them to agree to say they were the ones who wanted out of the games? Or was it a favor from one old Air Force buddy to another?
I wonder if FSU does get compensated for the change.
That would be nice but i bet it was a mutual agreement to both slide out. I would like a N. texas/UNLV/ Idaho/ FAU/ FIU type team. How about Rice?
Basically, I took coach Viloria with me....
When we walked in, the AF AD and his goons mumbled something like “Its the…Don Viloria!!!!”…then kissed Vic’s rings, and asked him for the favor. Vic turned to me and said “This cool with you, Spetmeister?” I replied “hells yeah boyee”, and that was the end of it.

Charleston Southern
Looks to me like we replaced them with Charleston Southern…

ONE div 1AA ain't too bad.
What sucks is that I’ve been giving Florida fans crap for playing/waxing Charleston Southern. Now we’re gonna get some. At least we still have Oklahoma. Thats more respectable than Troy. And still one OOC slot left to fill. Perhaps we haven’t replaced AF yet, as suggested below by Bud.
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
How long has Nevada been on our schedule?
This is the first time I had seen them mentioned.
Somethings gotta be done about our 2012 schedule...
That thing is nuts, man

The USF debacle may have been the dumbest scheduling move in the history of college football.
Elevate an afterthought of a school looking to break into the state’s Top 3. Check. Schedule the game with two national powers already on the OOC slate. Check. Provide the return trip three years from the home game providing no way to get out of the match-up. Check. It really would be nice if we could move the WVU home game (or drop the series – I won’t argue it into the ground – too late, I know) to 2014. Does our AD not lose sleep over this like we do? Imagine if this was your job.
Also keep in mind that our genius AD was trying to add USC on our schedule as well.
Spetman really needs to find employment elsewhere ASAP and take Mike Martin with him at the end of the season.
USC = University of Southeastern Chicago
Also, if I “took” Coach Martin, where would I take him? Assisted Living of Leon County? Cmon now. Dont be disrespectful. He’s had FSU close to greatness on tons of occasions! What more so you want?
