It's a bonus, basically

Get a bracket into an office pool before that game and you can pick up a point if you get it.

LOL

Well it’d make his job easier. Fans complacent enough to say “well, we make the tournament more times than not.”

by DKfromVA on Mar 18, 2010 1:16 PM EDT up reply actions

No kidding, but then I'd raise my expectations from just making it (for now) to getting to AT LEAST the round of 64.

And I’d expect any “bonus” money for making the NCAAT to be removed and put into the round of 64 slot.

Double down

Leonard Hamilton, the Florida State coach, is not only for expansion of the tournament to 96 teams. He doesn’t see why it shouldn’t just go another full weekend, to 128.

The Seminoles tied in the Atlantic Coast Conference at 10-6 with Virginia Tech, but the Hokies were left out of the field.

“I think you ought to just double it,” Hamilton said, referring to Tech, “so you take a lot of those scenarios out of the game.”

Fwiw, the article is about splitting basketball into a DI-A and DI-AA like football.

It pretty much keeps any conference that has a member capable of making a sweet sixteen run in DI-A (Horizon, A10, West Coast, Missouri Valley, Colonial, etc.) and would essentially split the DI-A field in half.

Didn't think you went into such great detail.

And I understand the rivalry between OSU and UM but I don’t think most people hate the state and everything associated with the STATE (not the school, but the state).

I did most of my growing up in Ohio, am not an Ohio State fan, and dislike them and their fans as much as Florida and Miami. But I think it’s a bit extreme to hate, say, Cedar Point because it’s in the same state that OSU is located.
