For once

a very good pro-FSU article by pro-gator Matt Hayes. That’s likely because he no longer sees us as a threat to UF.

That will change.

My values: I love my wife, admire my dog, and believe very deeply that Bobby Bowden and Paula Dean were separated at birth.

Goose Bumps

Loved the comment by EJ at the end. Getting pumped about next season. All we can pray for is that CP7 stays healthy for one full season

Finally CP7's name is starting to get the recognition he deserves.

He is already being mentioned by some (although insignificant) on a Heisman watch list,

http://www.bustersports.com/blog/buster-blog/2009/12/15/heisman-watch-2010because-its-never-too-early-to-start/

and I am sure he will be on many of the official watch list such as the Davey O’Brien, the Johnny Unitas, and hopefully the Heisman, Maxwell, and Walter Camp if we have a good year.

I know nobody really knows for sure

But how far along is he with rehab or how long untill he is effectively healthy?

You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair.

by Nole93 on Mar 9, 2010 11:32 AM EST reply actions

Off the top of my head, and i know i'm probably missing someone......

I can’t think of anyone i’d trade for CP7. Who at QB projects to be “better” at the position?

by Scalpemall on Mar 9, 2010 11:43 AM EST reply actions

Agreed,

I’ll concede, Mallett has the stronger arm, Ponder just seems to be the “total” package. Other than sliding more, he’s everything i’d want in a QB. Super intelligent, mobile, hardworking and ballsy as the day is long!

by Scalpemall on Mar 9, 2010 11:57 AM EST up reply actions

I hope he's as accurate after the rehab process.

If he returns to form AND our D tightens up a bit, we could sneak up on a few teams.

by Scalpemall on Mar 9, 2010 12:03 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah I wouldn't trade him for anyone

Locker will probably be the first qb taken next year in the draft and him and Mallett will be the front runners in the pre-Heisman hype at the position. Lots of other qb’s coming out next year as well including Jerrod Johnson, Terrell Pryor, Ricki Stanzi, Pat Devlin, Case Keenum, etc. Ponder might not have the hype as some of these other guys, but he is more of a complete player. The only weakness he has is maybe arm strength. Personally I wouldn’t take any other qb in the country over him.

by 1newplayer on Mar 10, 2010 9:19 AM EST up reply actions

I would say his arm strength was fine last year

Even though it was called back for the hold, how many people could have thrown that pass he did to Fortson against USF (when he was running to the sideline and threw the 30 yd dart to the endzone)

by FLAK8 on Mar 10, 2010 1:16 PM EST up reply actions

Will he get the Rolle treatment?
Ponder graduated with a degree in finance in less than 3 years and will complete his MBA this semester. By this fall, he’ll likely be taking classes toward a doctorate

Wonder if scouts will view his lofty educational goals as a negative, kind of like they did with Myron? “He’s too smart…He’s too ambitious…”. I am really only half-kidding when I ask this…

by Pinto on Mar 9, 2010 1:48 PM EST reply actions

Ponder doesn't have, among other pressures, people like jesse jackson telling him to pick up the metaphorical torch

Its a whole different set of ambitions and expectations…

I won’t comment on whether picking up Jesse’s torch would be a step backward for Myron, so as not to devolve this into a political discussion.

by fsu44 on Mar 10, 2010 5:27 PM EST up reply actions

He didn't take a year off from Football to pursue other interests

so it’s hard to believe anyone will try to make that argument.

by BS37FSU on Mar 9, 2010 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

He's not going to take doctoral level coursework

I heard him in an interview and he indicated that he would more than likely take a few basket weaving classes and concentrate on football

smart choice

that phd work isn’t what people expect in terms of “normal” classes.

by StM on Mar 10, 2010 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

I'll almost guarantee that the FSU CoB won't let him play football and get his PhD

PhD students also have to teach classes. Could you imagine taking a leadership class taught by Professor Ponder? The football metaphors would be everywhere.

by basaltrock on Mar 11, 2010 12:46 PM EST up reply actions

phd students

in the CoB normally only teach in the summers their first and second year and then a class a semester their third and fourth years. That’s probably the least of the workload though, seminars would take more time than football hah!

Wilson

All I hear about hear in Raleigh is how Russel Wilson is the best college QB, and how Ponder doesn’t compare.

It's the co. you keep.

Everybody i know in the triangle will tell you RW could be great, but isn’t there yet. Then they’ll make a reference to him playing baseball.

Wilson

He did set NCAA record for most passes w/o INT and has a solid two years playing against similar competition with TD:INT at 48:12.

I’d say the NCST fanbase has every right to say Ponder’s not in the conversation. We would obviously do the same if those were our QB’s stats.

Drew Weatherford had a great TD:INT too.

Do folks have every right to say Ponder should not be in that conversation either?

Honestly, if CP7 keeps it up

and does what a lot of us think he can do, I don’t see another ’Nole wearing #7 again.

Change is inevitable, growth is optional. You don't need to be sick to get better

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
