Leonard Hamilton part of DePaul buzz
"Other names we are hearing in connection with the Blue Demons include Florida State's Leonard Hamilton and Butler's Brad Stevens."
Would a move from FSU to DePaul be considered an upgrade?

Look at the other names they think might consider the job
Ben Howland and Frank Martin. This has to be a late april fools.
Let 'em hire Hamilton
Then we can hire Stevens, He only makes a little over 336,000 a year. My guess is Butler can’t go much higher than that. Maybe he’d come for the 1.5 mil we currently whiz away on Leonard.

Hey!
Just a week ago on Warchant I was told I live in a fantasy world if I thought Stevens would LISTEN to FSU if we were to offer a package tripling his salary (assuming Butler were to give him a pay raise at the end of the year).
I said I wouldn’t do it if I were Stevens, but I would certainly listen.
Then some douche told me I live in a fantasy world if I thought he’d even listen. Why try to build up a program like FSU when you’re already much closer to the top at Butler and have much less resistance in the Horizon? Hold out for a BIG time job.

Regardless, there are plenty of coaches out there that could do better with this squad than Hamilton.

Why would Stevens do it? WHY?
I dunno… Maybe he might like the idea of playing in one of the most challenging conferences in the nation. Certainly one of the most prominant. Maybe he would like the idea of having way more tools he could use to recruit with, i.e. location, student body, athletics department, student body, women, student body…
Maybe he just wants the money. Hell. Who cares?
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
I agree. I thank Hamilton for giving us some sort of relevance in the ACC,
but he has reached a ceiling and we need to move on.
Maybe it's just me
but soon after another one & done I believe I would have said something alone the lines of we appreciate what you’ve accomplished here but I think it’s time for us to part ways & move in a different direction.
I could go either way on it
meh
We were all created to be Seminoles. This is why we bleed garnet and piss gold.
I think Hamilton should take the DePaul job if offered
I would not be sad to see him leave, but then that is jmho.
Just as in big business....
there are guys who could take a 10 mil company to 100 mil status, but fail to sustain their growth. Theres nothing wrong with that as long as you can identify your skill set and leave once you reach your ceiling. I hope Coach Hamilton still hasn’t peaked but I understand that this may wishful thinking.
This is like last year when Memphis was getting rejected by everyone and they started talking to Hamilton.
Hamilton eventually stuck around (pretty much because Calipari took their whole recruiting class to Kentucky) and got a sweet deal out of FSU from it. We nearly doubled his salary after his 0-fer in the NCAAT and his flirtations with Memphis.

The problem is Depaul isn't going to pay Hamilton the same as he makes now
But we can always dream. One thing we have seen from watching the tourney, young teams can win with the right coaching.
They're rumored to be tossing $2.5M/year around.
Not sure why they only paid their last coach 1/5 of that, though.

I should have read below just a little further.
As it says that’s what they offered Purnell. So they could have easily outpaid us for Hamilton.

Clemson
Clemson will probably place a call to Brad Stevens’ agent this morning.
Also, Cornell's coach is heading to BC
Some ACC coaching shake-ups going on

Very interested to see what Clemson does
I think they are about in the same position we are. Purnell and Ham both went to football first schools around the same time and managed to turn awful programs into tournament teams, but may have reached a ceiling. The coach they can expect to hire is probably in the same ballpark as we would. Interesting to see if they have a guy that takes them to the next level or they sink to the bottom.
Brad Stevens would be nuts to take a job that isn’t Top 10. Butler is a lot like Boise State in football. It’s gone through a few coaches and has only gotten stronger. They’ve both had several coaches go on to “better” jobs and fall on their face.
Agree
If Hayward comes back next year Butler may be preseason top 5. I bet his agent’s cell phone is ringing off the hook today.

no doubt. Sad as it is for me to say, I think Stevens just coached his way to bigger
stuff than FSU. Even if he has to stick around at Butler a couple more years.
All is not lost; the unconquerable will/And courage never to submit or yield.
There are some on Warchant trying to dismiss his success this year as luck.

well, thats absurd, and I know you know that.
I dont know about you, but the National Championship game was a wonder to me. A wonder of coaching that simultaneously left me in awe and slapped me upside the head with a cold dose of reality as to how far away our Noles are from being a disciplined, productive basketball team.
Hamilton is not in the same universe as those two. I know that’s no Breaking News, but the separation between teams like those and FSU is startling when seen in High-Def.

Now Gaudio is out at WF
BC, WF, and Clemson will all have new HCs. Can FSU be next?
