Tomahawk Nation FSU Recruiting Podcast

We've been toying with the idea of a podcast for some time now and finally decided to attempt it.  Matt's a bit under the weather and had pest control come to the door during the middle when you can't hear him all that well.  I've done a few radio spots, but have never hosted.  Much respect to those who host, as that is at least as hard as being a guest if not more so.  Big lightning storm going on in the background around the 27 minute mark and the 36 minute mark.  Our topic was the release of the Rivals.com Top 100 rankings.  We discuss the method of ranking (quite difficult to whittle 10,000 down to 100), FSU's prospects, players who were underrated, and a few shockers who didn't belong on the list. This is rough, but we do hope you enjoy it and promise that the next episode will be better produced.

FYI

Most blogs on SBN who use podcasts use Blog Talk Radio, you may want to try using that one next time

Seemed very confusing.

I registered there first. Is there a userguide of how to do it? I couldn’t even figure out how to start one or call in (though i was pretty tired when I did it, admittedly).

I sent you an email on how to do it.

These rankings are great for FSU.

We are leading for Steward, in the top 4 for Wilder and probably leading (if he is a RB) and in contact with Clowney but he is SC or UNC bound.

No shot with Clowney. None.

Wilder is still a longshot, but there’s a chance.

TN rules!

So glad you started podcasting—the other FSU FB podcasts are embarressing as a FSU fan. Good content—evaluating rivals ratings!

Accountabilty is back in Tallahassee....

And Im calling our shot right now...

Put SWFL, SOM, and myself on a podcast and it destroys every FSU podcast ever.

I have the Facebook and Gchat evidence to prove it.

Sweet

So glad the podcast got going. Good job first time around. Just a few questions….Will this become a monthly thing at TN or just every once in awhile? And eventually will users be able to call in like podcasts on other SBNation websites?

Yes.

Mostly there’s an email address set up them. Set up an email account (TNpodcast@gmail.com or something like that), and do one of two things:

1.) Post podcast subject matter somewhere on TN and ask for questions on this topic to be emailed.
2.) Take random questions on every podcast.

Yeah a couple

take questions and of course before certain games they will have writers from rival sites offer opinions. Ironically the last one I listened to that had calls was one involving a former FSU player. The Saints site talking about Patrick Robinson. It used blogtalkradio which is referenced above.

I plan on visiting this site as soon as the NFL season revs up.

You a Saints fan?

Nahhh Steelers fan.

I just follow the draft and development of players religiously. When the draft was going on I went to all of the team sites who drafted Seminoles this year to hear fan’s take on our players. If you’re a Saints fan congrats on the Super Bowl win. We might win another one if Roethlisberger can control his libido.

On BCC’s we occasionally just let open lines flow in (typically bye weeks), other than that we just check the chat room

I enjoyed this. Looking forward to the next one.

Plus I bet I can listen to these while I run or do other things inbetween my day, just need to figure out how to get it onto my ipod.

With the podcast you just did, do you or SWFL have a "counter" that gives you a ballpark of how hits it got?

I use ballpark because Trick probably listened 6 times, transcribed it, and will be asking questions about it later.

Just kidding Trick.

Trick and who, me?

That'll do.

I’m assuming that those who clicked the post, probably clicked the link.

It would be cool if the technology you found could eventually count hits and maybe IP addresses, so you could get an idea of what kinda geographic footprint we have.

Then we’ll find you a sponsor :)

It's not beast mode or anything, but...

J/K Fantastic job you two. Being able to link the actual podcast would be fantastic for Facebook, but linking the post on the site gets TN.com more hits, so it’s a no lose situation…

Disappointing that we only have 1 out of 11 recruits on there so far.

I realize that we will land many more but still I thought we’d have more than 1 so far. Maybe we’ll have better luck with the ESPN & Scout rankings. Also these rankings will change a lot from now to NSD.

Yea I agree with ESPN :)

Scout and Rivals has been off imo. ESPN used to suck with their rankings but I’m liking them more and more.

talkshoe

i listened to a fair share of “LOST” podcasts on talkshoe the past few months. talkshoe lets users join in the chat while the podcast is going on. the podcast admins can bring in people from the chat to share their thoughts like they’re calling in on a radio show.

podcast update?

How is the search for a better podcast technology coming? I’m not sure when would be the optimal time to podcast on recruiting or other matters. I just figured that since camp #1 just finished it might be a good time. Is it even possible to get a coach to come on? FWIIW my preference ordering would be Stoops, Hudson, Craig, Viloria. ;")
