Since this is a topic we talk about a lot around here I had to copy and past the numbers for 08-09 and give my 2 cents n them. Numbers courtesy of a recent set of articles by fanhouse. The break down of football expenses by conference comes first and then in an attempt at easy navigation revenue and my speil as after the a jump. Expenses and revenue in millions of course.

Ok so everyone here pretty much knew we were being outspent by the gates, but who would have guessed we were a few hundred grand away from being in the bottom half of the ACC in spending? To be honest this is upsetting. It would be one thing if we were winning at the time. But we were a middle of the road team spending middle of the road money. Things could be worse though, we could have been Miami who spent more money than us only to get similar results and make less money.
Now when you compare revenue between FSU and pretty much any SEC team things look horrible. But I caution you to remember that these numbers are from 08-09, and FSU needs a winning program to maximize revenue. Not saying we will suddenly shoot up into the top 5 but top 20 is a definite possibility imo, with an outside shot at top 15. I also found it interesting that Clemson led the conference in profit that year, and I am glad FSU put together a quality staff and moved into the modern age of football before Clemson. If Clemson would have combined a money advantage, their inroads into Florida for recruits and quality coaching things may have really turned ugly.
