Florida State Seminoles are 1 Game Away from Advancing to Super Regionals

124

The Florida State Seminoles continued their streak of excellent performances from a starting pitcher as they won 6-4 Saturday night against the Oregon Ducks. Sean Gilmartin pitched 7 strong innings allowing 3 earned striking out 8 and only walking 1. Geoff Parker and Mike McGee made things interesting in the 8th and 9th innings but overall the pitching was great. The Seminoles offense was outhit 14-9 but 6 of the 9 hits for the Noles were of the extra base variety while the Ducks only managed 2. Oregon had very little trouble putting runners on base but thanks to a Seminoles defense that turned 3 double plays they were able to prohibit the Ducks from putting up a big inning. The Seminoles will now take on the winner of the Connecticut/Oregon game today at 2PM. We will have a preview and game thread once we know who the Noles will be playing.
