2010 MLB Amateur Draft and FSU Baseball: Day 2 - 12PM

Today at 12 PM will be the start of the 2nd round of the MLB Amateur draft and will more than likely go all the way through round 30.  Yesterday was pretty uneventful for the Seminoles unless you count Kaleb Cowart going to the Angels at 18 but everyone knew that he was a 1st rounder.  Today you are likely to see a lot of FSU players and commits get drafted and you can read up on their profiles from yesterday's article

Inside we will keep track of Noles that are drafted and discuss any other issues involving the draft.

Round 1 - Pick 18 Los Angeles Angels - Kaleb Cowart, Adel GA (Cook County HS) - 3B/RHP, S/R, 6-3, 195

The Angels will have to work to sign him, and he'll be tough to wrangle away from Florida State. He had a reported $3 million price tag that was fairly public knowledge most of the spring. Also, the Angels have had as much trouble as any organization of late in signing top picks. This is in no way a done deal. -  via Baseball America

Round 6 - Pick 199 St. Louis Cardinals - John Gast, Yr: Jr. P, L/L, 6-2, 190 - Last Drafted: 2007, Texas 5th round

BaseballAmerica Cardinals take LHP with upside in Fla. State's Jon Gast, who has Tommy John surgery in his past, stuff inconsistent #mlbdraft

Round 8 - Pick 244 San Diego Padres - Jose Dore, Kissimmee, FL (First Academy HS) - OF, L/R, 6-2, 180

Padres get Jose Dore. Should be signable power bat from high school ranks.

Round 9 - Pick 290 Colorado Rockies - Geoff Parker, Yr: Jr.  P, R/R, 6-3, 249- Last Drafted: Never

I am kind of suprised he went this high but good for him, hope he does well on the next level.  The only downside to this is that FSU put 2 pitchers in the top 10 rounds for the first time since 2002, accomplishments that Jamie Shouppe will use to dupe Florida State and best buddy Mike Martin into coaching as long as he wants. - RaysnNoles

Round 10 - Pick 300 Cleveland Indians - Tyler Holt, Yr: Jr.  OF, R/R, 6-1, 190 - Last Drafted: Never

collegesplits - Tyler Holt! Cleveland! We love you! We are now Indians fans! Splits: http://bit.ly/9hDFzJ #mlbdraft #indians #effinga #thereisagod 2 minutes ago via web

Round 10 - Pick 325 NY Yankees - Ben Gamel, Neptune Beach, FL (Bishop Kenny HS) OF, L/L, 5-11, 170

Yankees get Ben Gamel. Wants to go to school.

Round 24 - Pick 721 Toronto Blue Jays - Stephen Cardullo, Yr: Srr.  SS, R/R, 6-0, 200 - Last Drafted: Never

My issue with Cardullo has nothing to do with him as a person.  His offense and defense didn't warrant him playing on the field when there were better options on the bench.  Congrats to him for being drafted at this spot and I wish the best to him in the future. - RaysnNoles

Round 27 - Pick 816 Toronto Blue Jays - Eric Arce, Lakeland, FL (Lakeland HS) C/1B, L/R, 5-11, 195

I would assume his off the field issues and commitment to Florida State caused his stock to fall.  His arrival on campus is almost certain now and much needed. - RaysnNoles
