Florida State's Rodney Hudson and Greg Reid Receive Pre-season All-American Honors
Well, it's that time of year for the ever too early pre-season All-American hoopla, which is now officially underway.
Florida State guard Rodney Hudson and punt returner Greg Reid were named preseason first-team all-Americans by the staff at College Football Insiders.
Quarterback Christian Ponder was included in the honorable mentions as was offensive tackle Andrew Datko, center Ryan McMahon, outside linebacker Nigel Bradham and Reid at cornerback.
Here are the first three teams and you might want to pay special attention to how many of these guys will be lining up against FSU this fall:

I love Reid.
I want to him to come to my home for Thanksgiving. But honorable mention at CB? Really?
He has a couple things going for him:
The first two are what the outside world has seen, and is probably driving this:
(1) undeniable athleticism.
(2) enough “highlight” plays on defense as a frosh to generate some buzz.
And more under the radar, but perhaps more important:
(3) Defensive MVP this past spring.
The man truly had an amazing performance this spring, and seems to have a skill-set that is tailor-made for the zone D we’ll be running. While I doubt most national journalists aren’t going to be familiar with point #3, perhaps a quote or two from Jimbo re: his spring performance reached someone’s ears that made the case to insert him in there as a darkhorse breakout performer.
Don’t know how many honorable mentions are included for each position, but this would mean he has at least 6 guys in front of him for the 1st/2nd/3rd team — so that places him as maybe the 2nd or 3rd best CB in the ACC. it’s certainly an optimistic prediction… but what’s the point of speculating on a preseason list if you’re not going to take any risks?
I agree with everything that you have said.
But I just can’t get past the fact that he is not expected to be a starter. Even in the silly season, I would expect that a player that is projected to be an honorable mention All-American would start for his team. But it is July, and the talking heads have done their job. They have got us talking.
How few Florida players on the three teams.
Anyone know what is expected of Will Hill? He was just a freak of an athlete in highschool.
Should start at S along with Black.
Elam will be the third safety and play.

It must have been my film review article that put Hudson over the top
FSU Defense 2010: Taking back 1st down.
Mustve been.
I heart Cardullo...in the same way I heart the World Cup, Fat Girls, and Okra.

your film review was similar to Rodney Hudson.
Both awesome.

FSU Defense 2010: Taking back 1st down.
i said, "similar" not "on the same level"
Nobody is crazy enough to type something like that.

Glad that Ponder And Hudson made it and all...
But putting Mallett as the first team qb is just silly

You know I am quite confused with the qb rankings
I know that Jake Locker has all of the tools to be a great qb, but what has he done to show that he is worthy of an All-American ranking? I’d argue that Xavier Lee had many of the same qualities minus whats upstairs as Jake Locker (strong arm/ decent runner (well Locker is a much better runner)) but never was X Lee even talked about preseason ACC. Sometimes I really think some of these awards are more about “reputation” then production.. For instance based on production how in the hell could Kellen Moore not be the preseason #1 qb?
Team GOLD
How explosive will we be if........
Greg Reid and Lamarcus Joyner are regularly returning kickoffs. From what I have seen on film from Joyner, he has the ability to be a great return player. I think Joyner will break out and have a HUGE impact as a True Freshman! Similar to what Greg Reid did last season.

Greg Reid will most likely only return punts, not kickoffs.

I'm not so sure this Jimbo fella is the right man for the job.
I have a feeling that he will still get his fair share of kickoff returns
He’s too explosive to leave on the bench if other guys aren’t getting the job done. Also, if it’s close late in the game, and we need a big kickoff or spark, I think he might be the guy we turn to.
