"The teams that have caught my interest are Florida State, Notre Dame, Clemson and Florida," Lynch said. "I'm looking to commit at the end of this month or the first week of next month."
So, does the talented pass rusher have a leader as of right now? "The leader at this point is Florida State," Lynch said.
Lynch indicated that his top three priorities which will dictate where he ends up are: 1. Education. 2. His feel with the coaches. 3. Playing time/depth at defensive end.
ESPNU 150 Defensive End Aaron Lynch Names Florida State His Leader. Lynch, from Cape Coral, FL is regarded as one of the top 50 players in the country and the 7th best defensive end overall. It was thought that Lynch, who had been favoring Notre Dame, might have a change of heart if he was shown a good time on his recent visit to Tallahassee, as well as Gainesville. This will continue to be a FSU, UF, Notre Dame battle as Lynch plans to commit in the next 4 weeks.
Our evaluation of Lynch from the Recruiting Board:
Tremendous frame and still growing. Excellent strength paired with good quickness, relative to his size. Technique needs work and he gets away with average technique against sometimes-iffy competition. Impressive motor and doesn't often take plays off. Definitely a kid who will base his pass-rushing arsenal off the bullrush and complement it with swims and rips. Displays good lateral quickness relative to his size. Projects as a 6'6" 280-295 lb defensive end, like you see in the NFL. Easily one of the best 100 prospects in the country and arguably one of the top 50. Lynch is not an early-birthday kid and will turn 18 after National Signing Day. Also has an excellent GPA.

This would be fantastic.
That’s a grown-ass man.
Is the thinking that Ray Drew is unlikely due to his Jody Allen connection?
This kid is a SDE
I think we want Drew rush the passer and use his athleticism on the weak side. I would think this maybe hedges our bets for Newberry. Granted I’ve heard fairly good things about Newberry lately too. Can’t have enough grown ass men

Sorry, should've clarified:
I was thinking of Ray Drew separately just as a generic recruiting question.
Get this..
He plays high school football for the Gators. They totally ripped off the UF logo, accept they had to choose different colors because the HS down the street is already orange and blue.
Yeah, I knew who he was talking about. Just wanted to see if he was local to the area.

Meant to hit reply. I've been having a lot trouble with computers today.
I went to Cape High for two and graduated from Mariner back in 98. In those days recruiting in the area was dominated by UF. At least at the schools I mentioned with Earnest Graham and Teddy Dupey. Hopefully that’s beginning to change.

I'm not so sure this Jimbo fella is the right man for the job.
My bad, SW, I read that wrong
I went to a few of those 50+ games that are referred to in that article, and also the 70-pointer. The kid was sick. One, maybe two dribbles past half court and he pulls up and drains on the regular. It got to the point that they actually WOULD guard the shot and he would still hit.
For the playoff game that he hit 70, the opposing team all took an ink pen and colored in a roman numeral III on their shoulders as a mockery/get in his head type thing because he had recently gotten a tattoo of the same design on his shoulder – he’s the 3rd Edward Dupay. Every shot hit he would run by the entire bench of the opposing team staring at them with his shoulder puffed out without saying a word. After the game, the opposing team posed with him for a picture with all of them pointing to their III’s. I’d be damed if I’m posing with that guy after he lit my team up for 70!
Not when I played D on him!
I “held” him to 36 points on 10-39 from three-point. How does someone take that many threes in a game?
This is great news.
Pulling this kid would go a long way towards having dominant defensive lines in Tally again. It also would calm the fears of our easily scared brethren who seem to think we will never pull a top shelf DE prospect. Even if Lynch and Newberry are both projected to play SDE, I would be fine with pulling the two of them and missing on Drew as I feel a couple of the current DEs can be high quality SDEs as long as they are around guys who can play their respective positions. I also think we could put out monster sized DEs on both the strong and weak side in the future and give teams fits with the riches we are stock piling at LB and in the secondary.
I wouldn't get so caught up in where a player is "projected"
Fisher stated after his first signing day as HC that he wants football players, not “wide receivers” or “corners”. FSU was dominant in the 90s due to rotating defensive depth, especially on the line (three deep rotation most years of the 90s), and Stoops has a “multiple” defense, which translates to many more than 11 “starters” if you don’t limit yourself to thinking of the “base” defense.

Where does this come from? I have not seen where he's Miami's to lose.
I know he grew up a Miami fan, but not getting recruited by your favorite team leaves scars.
65 days till Samford. 09.04.10.
Enough with this

I like this kid a lot
and he still has some growing to do. Pretty athletic(former tight end) and stout against the run. He does need to learn some more pass rushing moves and I thought for sure that he was a Notre Dame lock. He looked good earlier this year in Tampa at the 7 on 7 combine. A great catch for FSU if we can get him especially at a position of need.

The other site's article wasn't as positive
I’m not sure if we’re allowed the mention specific sites, but on that one he didn’t list FSU as the leader but that they were in his top three. The overall tone of the article was positive but not as positive as this one. I’m not saying that the FSU #1 quote wasn’t accurate, but that when interviewed by different people he didn’t list FSU as the leader. Regardless, this is an awesome surprise. I thought his FSU visit was just to go through the process before committing to Notre Dame.
i'll take two bid defensive ends...
i like the idea of bigger, stronger de’s that collapse the pocket with a bull rush or strong swim move nowadays, moreso than a smaller de that relies on speed to get past the ot. a lot of times they run themselves right out of the play and can leave a wide open running lane for draws, screens, etc.
it’s been mentioned itt that Stoops will send a blitz with 5+ guys and only one player is really designated to get to the qb. the other guys are there to occupy blockers and open lanes for the blitzer to come through untouched.
Personally, I prefer his natural color.

Hope we can land him!
