I've been sitting here at work tonight bored out of my mind, because weather forecasting is really really really boring, but any how I thought to myself: When was the last time that we were in the running for A. A Heisman quality QB 2. A chance at 10 wins. I say chance because the schedule isn’t pretty, but if we have a few good breaks the chance is there. And finally D. A trip to the ACCCG.
So let’s start with number A. All of us know that CP7 is by far the best QB to step foot on campus in a very long time. I remember the days of Ward and Johnson and i think he is just as good if not better than Ward. But times are different and there is a lot more talent spread throughout the country and the competition will be tough this year. Ponder needs wins, and a trip to the ACCCG and a W in that game to even have a chance. All of us know that talent doesn’t always win the Heisman but a team’s ability to win.
2. The possibility of winning 10 games. Now i know that we all have taken part in the chance to statistically predict the number of wins for the season. Now let’s just throw that out for right now and try and believe that there is actually a chance, though it may be small, but a chance at 10 wins. Game one is almost a for sure win. After this is where you have to just believe. OU, BYU, WF, UVA, and UM could end up with FSU sitting at 5-1. I say this because of the home stand after the OU game and this could carry us into Charlottesville and Miami. After that we return home to a big game with BC. I’m thinking again that being at home will be enough to carry us to a win with this game. Next is going to be a NCST team that always plays us well but we will be coming from an off week and we will be prepared. That puts us at 7-1. Now this is where it gets dicey. I know that UNC is pumped this year and they have got a heck of a team. This is a trap game. UNC will be ready to play us and following this game we are headed to Clemson. If our D plays 1/10 better than it did last year, when they had spiller, we are going to beat the tar out of this team. Next is Maryland and do i need to really even talk about this game? So UF comes into Tally and we are going to give em a heck of a game and it turns out the hogs beat us 35-34 with a last second FG. So this puts us at 10-2. I know that many of my thought here are based purely on hope and prayers but so be it. I truly think that the team is buying into CJF and his Saban like mentality that nothing less than perfection is acceptable.
D. The trip to the ACCCG is solely based on #2. If #2 fails then D has no chance. It’s hard to write much more than that about the possibility of #3 because it is dependent upon #2. I do know that if #2 falls into place we should expect to play VT. But think about this. If we do beat VT we automatically get a bid into a BCSBG! So I could make a #4 but ill save everyone the torture of my hopes and dreams.
So what have we learned from this? First don’t ever become a weather forecaster cause not only are you wrong 80% of the time in your job you also are wrong 80% of the time away from your job!
