Is this what we have to look forward to?
At the 0:15 mark, Bob Griese mentions that we were playing a zone defense. There has been lots of talk regarding the likelihood of more zone defense being utilized by Stoops this year and how it will allow the DBs in particular to keep things in front of them and make more plays. Hopefully interceptions and hits like this will be the types of plays they make!

Watching it on TV was not bad either.
That hit, Greg Jones’ near beheading of the UNC DBack that got in his way and Fortson’s hit on the WF DBack who intercepted Ponder along the goal line have to be three of the best hits I have seen from FSU in the last decade. I wonder where they would rank all time?

I too, was there
I love that Roscoe got de-lunged by Samuels. That rain made it so friggin cold.

This was the first Nole game I ever attended
And given the result combined with the horrible weather, that hit was the shining moment. Even better that I was only a couple of rows up right on the corner of the field where this happened. Samuels was flat out annihilated, and everyone felt good about it. And to this day, I feel the same.

I was at that game aka "The Soak at Doak 2"
Freezing, wasted but had a great time. That was the highlight of that game. That and when Willie Reid caught the only touchdown of the game.
Also, that’s the game that pretty much solidified Sean Taylor being a first round pick.
I was also there, miserable, your right only a couple of highlights that game.
To look back at how much we underachieved with so much talent is depressing to say the least.
Speed is a great asset; but it's greater when it's combined with quickness - and there's a big difference.

I was there also.... worst weather for a Noles game I can remember
He was hit so hard that Roscoe spent the night in Tallahassee that night. Greatest hit I’ve ever seen in person – up there for best I’ve ever seen period.
One of my all time favorite plays
My tickets are directly in front of that play, 18 rows up. I’ve had them for 20 years and have never seen or heard a hit like that before. That rain sucked.
That had to be our best team of the Lost Decade
What a waste. But damn Stanford put the icky on him. Looked like Parrish puked his guts out after the hit.

I believe this is when we had Steele
And therefore were running an up to date and innovative defense.

That's part of the point I was making
I think our new defensive scheme (also up to date and innovative) will lead to more big plays like this. I remember Greg Reid jumping a pass in the second half of the spring game because he was able to keep the play in front of him and watch the QB a little more so he could break on the ball. Similar to what SS did on the play in the video. Looked like he let the WR go to someone in the next level zone and stayed in the underneath area where he was able to make the big hit. Me likey!

Steele was the linebackers coach
Andrews was the defensive coordinator all along, and Andrews did not use Man 100% of the time, just lots of the time. That play was likely a 3rd and more than 5. Notice last year in such situations the Noles used the Nickel and the Prowler.
Just like Mickey let Chuck run the show against GT
I’m sure he allowed Steele to have large amounts of input on the defensive schemes we ran during his tenure, probably why we were still able to stop teams back then without having to rely exclusively on one amazing pass rusher (I’m looking at you Everette Brown).
