Florida State Promotes Christian Ponder With CP7forHeisman.com
Florida State is going all-out to promote Christian Ponder for the Heisman trophy, unveiling CP7forHeisman.com
This is certainly a first class website. Compare it to those for Jake Locker and Ryan Mallett (though those two do not appear to be done by their respective schools). There really is no contest. The website showcases photos, video highlights, statistics, quotes, music, and academic accomplishments by Ponder. Fans can also create wallpapers featuring Ponder. Ponder is definitely in the conversation for honor of best quarterback in college football, and early Vegas odds have him as one of the ten most likely to win the stiff-armed trophy. In addition to his on-field exploits, Ponder graduated with a degree in finance in only two years, and received his MBA last semester. He is the only Heisman candidate to also pursue a second Masters degree.

Ugh... This post was not here when I wrote my fanshot.
Dadgum you and your timing, Bud. And feel free to delete the FS I guess.
Nice site, though. Someone DID put a little effort and cash into this. Not bad presentation, too. Heres hoping he doesn’t feel inclined to tackle anyone this season.
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
Indeed
I hope he sacrifices his body a bit less. MAYBE on big third or fourth down plays, or near the goal line in a big game? Maybe. With CP7 in the game(s), we do have a shot at the ACC CG. It would be great to get there, better to win it. Here’s hopin’!
I had always assumed that by the time of that INT in the Clemson game he decided that he was tired of expending any more effort on that season and embarking on a kamikaze attack on the USS DeAndre McDaniel was the most expedient method….man, last season sucked.

Usually when there's significant news you can count on the sites having them up shortly.
With the resources of the staff (sources, writing talents, etc), it’s kinda pointless to do a fanshot on something that will be a significant story.

The only time he should even cross the line of scrimmage is if.......
its FTW against UF or in the ACCCG IMHO. Definitely no tackling.
In all seriousness, we have a shot(against anyone) as long as he’s in the game
......and let the paramedics sort 'em out!
BUUUUUUUUT...
Hope is not lost if we lose CP7 (knock on wood). EJ, baby.
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
No doubt about it.
I have nothing but confidence in E.J. I’d rather see Ponder only throwing this year than E.J. doing both. Next year w/ another year under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see E.J. put it ALL together. I’m just not sure he can read a defense quite like Ponder, yet.
......and let the paramedics sort 'em out!
Me too
Unfortunately, I’ve been toying around with it for the last hour….and I have a class in the morning. It’s addicting! So much awesomeness in one site.
Mind. Blown.
The site was outsourced by FSU Athletics to Old Hat Creative
Old Hat Creative is a graphic design firm based out of Norman, OK (how ironic) who solely create posters, web sites, etc. for 36 NCAA athletics programs. They create most of FSU’s sports team posters, including this one: http://www.youtube.com/user/oldhatcreative#p/u/4/d_W8JDWjrDU

love the site however...
Theres pretty much only one audio clip that keeps playing and it gets annoying pretty quickly. I know you have the ability to turn the sound off but it would be better anyways if they just had more clips. Im not sure if they’re still in the process of adding additional ones but they should fix that. Overall though very impressive!

Can’t wait to hear his acceptance speach!

Ponder lacks arm strength? Think again.

Wagging the dog.
Ponder is a class act and certainly the best QB that we have had in many years.I seriously doubt that this website is going to improve his chances at the Heisman, but the thing it is going to do is keep the TV commentators chatter off the Bobby Bowden was run out of FSU story that we heard all through the Gator Bowl game. He built the program, he was great, he should have been able to pick his date of retirement, they owe him everything.
That's an interesting question -- do PR campaigns actually affect the Heisman outcome?
I have to think it doesn’t really. But the real value is in the opportunity to get good press for your University.

A PR campaign got the Gators to a MNC game
If anything, it gives pundits a little something extra to talk about. It also makes it easy for someone (including the press) to say, “Want to learn more about CP7? Check out this website and possibly follow him to NY.”

Its also good for future recruits
to show that the school will get behind them and push for their individual recognition, which if nothing else, can’t help but raise their draft profiles.
It’s part of being a top notch program.
You can't "buy" a Heisman with PR, but, it's tough to win without it.
PR shines the spotlight on a player. You really need to bring as much attention to a player as possible and tell his story – and keep that story in front of the media and the pubic. You can’t rely on the national media to do that as their attention will be split between other candidates and other stories.

I think this is a good idea because you only hear about Ponder amongst people who are delving into draft stock right now. A web site like this will make it more likely that voters will watch FSU games or at least track the box score to see how he does. It won’t win him the Heisman but it’ll get him the attention required to do so.
Exactly....
What would have him off and running would be lighting Oklahoma up. He would immediately be on everyone’s short list with a big game there as long as the score is close. I wouldn’t worry much about comp from Mallet and Locker. Look at Mallet’s numbers against top teams, and Washington won’t be in any kind of contention.
Am i missing something
I dont see any highlite clips from last year.
You mean 2008?
I saw all the games from last year that Christian played in including Jacksonville State..

The site doesn't fully load for me at work
…… I QUIT!!!!
Works fine for me.
Very well done, even if you don’t agree with the overall concept.
Nice job by whoever put this together. My only criticism is the Deckerhoff audio over and over.

Top right
You can turn the sound off (or, technically, pause it).
I know.
Complaining more about the lack of variety, I guess.

Ponder on the Radio in Raleigh NC
Ponder was on sports radio in Raleigh NC…hes evidently doing all kinds of media interviews today regarding the campaign. Pretty decent interview…talked about how UNC was one of the first offers he got and how he liked chapel hill, but that the heels didnt stand a chance if he got his FSU offer. More talk about the change from BB to Jimbo.
ACC Mania's thoughts
http://accmania.wordpress.com/
From my early days listening to Bill Roth depict a dazzling Michael Vick dance around the field to glory until now, it has been more than a pleasure to be a Hokie fan. Since 1998, there has only been one game played in Lane Stadium I did not attend (stupid chicken pox), and I dread the day where I am not fortunate enough to be in the stands week after week.
It's a great day to be a Hokie!
its not working!
EVERYTIME i click the website it sends me to godaddy.com and its really pissing me off cause i wanna see the website!
Who commissions this website?
If it is the athletic dept., do they pay for it out of publicity, football, general fund…? Who okay’s the content?
I would imagine so
Seems like Jimbo definitely holds the reins on about everything that comes out of FSU football now.
I think it is a brilliant preemptive strike.
We can help control what the TV announcers are going to be talking about on gameday.
This campaign will have ESPN asking Charlie Ward what CP7 needs to do each game to win the Heisman instead of listening to him give his incorrect opinion about Bobby.
So the big question... Who's a better passer: CP3 or CP7?
