Christian Ponder Instructs Campers At Manning Passing Camp

Video courtesy Chris Mortensen's Twitter.  The advice here really shows Ponder's growth as a quarterback because it was only 18 months ago that he took a very large final step in his drop, drawing criticism as he appeared to deliver passes from a "ninja crouch".

No more of that

Sheesh its crazy remembering how much doubt a lot of us (I admit I was very skeptical) had in all the talk of progression. But Christian has come a long long way

YES!

It was the pocket presence argument right? They felt like he didn’t have it in 08 and therefore would never have it

by truenole87 on Jul 9, 2010 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Right.

There were 2 crowds.

One that pocket presence was some innate quality some had and some did not.

The other was that you have to have an expectation of protection. You read the defense and reach to the rush if it breaks down, not the reverse. This crowd argued that you develop the expectation of regular protection only if you’ve seen your oline offer that protection (which the OLine did NOT offer in Spring ball before ’08 or in 2008 season).

Spring 2009 rolls around, Ponder sees the OLine give protection, develops confidence to where he expects protection and adjusts to breakdowns, as opposed to expecting breakdowns.

Put me in the second camp-

The media can never figure out why some quarterbacks (and RB) go up and down. If you can’t depend on your blocking over the course of a game you can’t have a pocket presence. (Insert comment re: Rix rolling out of the pocket unnecessarily)

Just stay healthy and he’ll have a great season.

More Importantly

We use to have a freaking NINJA on our team? Why did we get rid of it?

by FSUKook on Jul 9, 2010 11:06 PM EDT reply actions

NCAA ruling

The ninja crouch was creating a “hostile or abusive environment” in Japanese-American culture

I know you can fight. But it's our wits that make us men.

Is it wrong...

that I have a man-crush on Ponder?

by FloridaState on Jul 10, 2010 1:07 AM EDT reply actions

No

He’s just a beautiful man, and a helluva quarterback…who DOESN’T have a man crush on Ponder?

by Chief03 on Jul 10, 2010 4:40 AM EDT up reply actions

My Fiance

Its just a normal crush though. We both go to FSU and she called me once and said all giggly the CP7 opened the door for her on her way to class! Of course, around me she has never opened a door in her life, but I’m kinda old school like that, but it seems you can tell a lot about people from their everyday life interactions

Sorry to be off topic...

but I tend to visit the Alligator Army page once in a while to see what trash is being hurled around. I have to say much of their articles are half truths. For example, they are already trash talking the USF/UF game because USF fans have poor artist qualities. Bunch of D-Bags.

Oh yeah, CP7 is the shizzznit.

Dude, why bother

Every Gate I know tells me Ponder will be lucky to go in the second round and that someday Brantley will go higher than him.

Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.

Payton Manning's

first football camp was organized a bit differently.

I have never seen that before! My image of Peyton is ruined forever.

HA!

One of the best skits ever. And JABNole, you’re right, it never gets old.

Christ Mortensen

said this in one of his tweets: Ponder struggled in pre-skills competition when all threw to WRs on passing tree routes – he’s a little rusty after that shoulder surgery
