There are approx. 15,000 tickets left for the Samford game
However, FSU athletics is expecting significantly less than 69,000 at the game due to season ticket holders not showing up. A very large number of season ticket holders said, when contacted by FSU, that they would be skipping Samford and going to BYU instead.
If you have season tickets, and do not plan to attend the Samford game, please give away your tickets for that game. Make sure someone gets in your seat, or it could create a very bad image for Jimbo’s first game as HC when highlights, etc are showcased on ESPN and in Seminole history for years to come.

Well I'm a Booster but not a season ticket holder and I won't be attending this game or any home game this season.
At this point I couldn’t care less about 70K or 80K attendance. Just win. All the optimism in the world isn’t going to change the fact we haven’t been very good for the past 4 years and our final 2 home games of 2009, both against conference opponents, we only SOLD 67K/game (can only imagine how many actually showed up). If we do that against a scrub Samford then, by comparison, we did quite well. It’s not like we sold out our first game of the season/home opener vs our arch rival Miami last year either.
Yes, it’d be great to have a packed house to start Fisher’s tenure, but I don’t think it’s a bad reflection on Jimbo or the fans. It’s simply a reflection of the current and recent past state of the program.

Bull!
Any FSU fans, alumni etc. who live w/in 3 hrs of Doak should be there. Do you know how frustrating it is to live 8 hrs away and hear this crap? Give Jimbo some support. He’s working his butt off to deliver a quality product. So is his staff and lets not forget about the players. Un effin believable if we dont put 80,000 asses in those seats.
......and let the paramedics sort 'em out!
What "crap"?
There aren’t a ton of FSU fans/alumni/Boosters/etc. that live within 3 hours. Orlando’s 4 hours away. Tampa/St. Pete are 4.5+. Literally like 80%+ of Florida’s population lives greater than 4 hours away. Over a third lives at least 6 hours away.
So I’m assuming you go to all the games despite living 8 hours away?

We’re about to witness the rebirth of FSU football. No matter how inconsequential Samford might seem this is a milestone in FSU history. The dawn of a new era where accountability, intelligence and discipline should all blend together creating something more exciting than we’ve seen in a decade.

This might offend some people and Im sorry to say this but that sort of attitude is exactly what has turned FSU into what it is now. Complacent. Do you think Alabama had 15,000 seats available when Nick Saban took over the reigns after all of the violations and post season bans that program went through. No! Absolutely NOT! The stadium was sold out for his first game and look where they are now. (Not to say thats the only reason but fan support is one of the most crucial elements of an elite program) Every single fan affiliated with FSU should make it a top priority to attend the Samford game. Our players and coaches have been working their a**es off to bring us back and we as fans should show our renewed faith and support, and make a statement out of it. We should be their screaming at the top of our lungs for them and when Jimbo comes out of that tunnel the stadium should erupt with a roar that will set car alarms off. We need teams to FEAR coming into our house once again and we want recruits to feel proud to say they are Seminoles. If you cant make it for serious reasons then by all means thats understandable but to use that reasoning and think it is acceptable to miss this game is embarrassing to say the least. I feel sorry for you, booster or not.
by FS4Nole on Aug 29, 2010 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
The two scenarios aren't at least a little bit different?
The economy was still strong when Saban started at Alabama. Alabama and many SEC schools’ rabidness is unique due to most of the states not having any professional sports franchises. And Tuscaloosa is pretty much in the middle of the state, no more than 3.5-4 hours away from ANY border.

For the record I am not going to Samford or BYU because I will be vacationing with my wife but I am going to Raleigh and Miami away and attending the rest of the home games except UF. Before I get called a traitor, I actually have to spend Thanksgiving weekend with my wife’s family. Please forgive me. This is what I can do but I don’t judge or question anyone else. oh and BTW
Tennessee – Titans
Gaytors – Ummm Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, Panthers,
LSU – Saint, Hornets
Gamecocks – Carolina Panthers
just to name a few…besides I dont really see how " not having any professional sports franchises" should make a difference. Many people go to both pro and college games even in states that do have both.
Its more so about casual fans in Florida
Those other states you are referring to in the SEC, most don’t have in state competitors like Florida. Football is king here. FSU, UF, MIA, UCF, USF, FAU, FIU. You show me a state with more D1 football schools. Louisiana has ONE football school (Tulane…no) and its 2 hrs from New Orleans. TN is the only one in a small state, Vandy doesn’t count. UF is winning right now so they put more casual fans out there and location IS a factor. 2hrs from Orlando, JAX, Tampa is much better than 2hrs from JAX, Gainesville and DeFuniak Springs. You can’t tell me that when it takes an equal amount of time to drive from Miami to Tally as Tampa to Charleston, SC its not a factor. Also, Florida is full of transient bandwagon fans whether its pro or college and whoever is winning looks like they have more fans. This has been beaten to death and are not excuses but reality whether or not you approve. WIN and people will come.

the "snow birds"
really hurt the attendance of all sports in florida. Everybody already has their own team to root for. Go to a magic game against Boston. The arena will be 1/2 green. It’s sickening, but something we always are gonna deal with.
Luckily, college football doesn’t really have those problems (especially for us). I wonder what % of FSU graduates remain in Florida after graduation. I always see emails/websites/fanshots from the Seminole Club of Boston/Virginia/Arizona/etc so I’d imagine that a good portion of graduates leave the south.
snowbirds
help the Rays attendance, but not the support to my dismay.
Good points.

Yeah tricknole sorry for the short answer from me
I assumed like freshcollegeboy that you were closer to T-town and were acting a bit non-chalant about going. I still do believe though that if you are a fan of FSU and live in-state you should try and go to one game a year. Heck this is Ponder’s last year and Jimbo’s first so going to a game this year should be good. Lots of good home games as well this year including Florida, BC, Clemson, and North Carolina. I admit the NC game has lost some of it’s allure, but all of the games will have an impact on how well our season goes.

If you draw a line from Bartow to Okeechobee to La Belle to Arcadia and back to Bartow. The rough area within those borders. Nothing at all to do with “South Florida” at all even though it’s in the southern half of the state. I won't tell anyone how to spend their money and that they shouldn't come to a game. But.
I am also a grad student in Seattle. I am taking out student loans and I am setting away 450$ for plane ticket + game ticket to WF in Sept. Haven’t missed a home game in 3 years but I will this year unfortunately.
Also a booster, I used to drink Latte’s here, about 3-4$ ea. I stopped buying those and bought a french press to make my own coffee coffee @ work, moved by 4$x5days=20$ week, 80$/mo to pay for netflix + booster.
I think anyone can make a couple sacrifices if they want to come to one. They just have to do that on their own and make those decisions. But you have to do that on your own.

absolutely.
Seattle has a collection of some of the best restaurants that I’ve ever been too.
Expensive Dinner
Daniel’s Broiler – awesome steak place on Lake Union, cheapest steak is 38-40$, tops out around 95$ for surf and turf. We kept our bill around 90$ and it was great.
Sort of Expensive
Olivar (Capitol Hill) – great sorta of french/Mediterranean food. You can get a 3 course meal for 25$, Large plates for $16-$20ish, Small plates for 10-14$. Everyone once in a while, they will roast a goat on the side walk in a box and it is absolutely amazing.
Poppy – Capitol Hill, great modern food, very interesting, about 7 small plates per meal. I think about 16 $, wonderful desert plate.
Lunch – Downtown, Salumi – Chef Mario Bettelli awesome aged meats/sandwhich shop. get there early so there is not a crazy line, and they run out of supplies. I recommend the Pork Cheek sandwich if available. about 6-9$ a sandwich
Breakfast try to get to a Top Pot Cafe; famous for their donuts, which I would say are good. but no reason not to try it.
Theres a bunch more, so many in fact. but these are all the ones on the top of my head that I would rec to anyone.

Petite Toullose (I think that’s how you spell it) is a French /Creole bar-restaurant in the downtown/belltown area. It has a wonderful happy hour menu of ~50 items @ ~$5 each. From 4pm to 5:30pm. Before or after that time is their standard menu which is awesome as well but not quite the experience.

You can't count FIU and FAU and not count Tulane, ULL, and ULM.
As far as a state with more FBS schools, TExas has 10 (UT, TAMU, Baylor, Tech, TCU, Houston, Rice, SMU, UTEP, North Texas) and has 2 more looking to join FBS (Texas State, UT-San Antonio) while California has just as many as Florida with 7 (Cal, UCLA, USC, SDSU, SJSU, Fresno St., Stanford).

I was comparing to SEC states because of the constant comparison
I’ve never heard anyone raving about attendance at a Cal Berkley game but since you went there it helps the argument. If CA has the same number of schools playing football in a huge state of 37 million compared to FL with 18 million there are far fewer people per school diluting the fan base. Same with Texas. Ok take out FIU and FAU and there are still more bigtime football schools in FL. That’s about 3.5 million people per school where TN has 6 million people and one bigtim football school, two if you count Vandy but I left out FAU and FIU. Believe me, most people in TN do NOT go to Vandy.

I realize there are exceptions
but except for OSU and Cincy the rest have about as much of a draw as FAU/FIU. FSU, UF, UM, USF are in BCS conferences and UCF is almost there. Look in the end, its all about bandwagoners with attendance. No school will have every alum show up at every game. I can’t tell you how many people I went to high school with that went to USF/UCF that now put on UF shirts and say “well my dad (who also didn’t go to UF) rooted for them when I was little so I grew up a fan” or “my girlfriend went to UF (and since UCF blows big ones) so I have to put on UF jerseys and go to their games”. These are the hybrid bandwagoners and they are all over Florida. They just want to desperately cling on to a winner and have no shame kicking their school to the curb for whatever convenient reason until their school is on top. They are the same people who were next to me at the Rays game wearing Red Sox shirts who show up in Rays gear every other game. They are not from Boston and I, for the life of me, don’t get it. But it will happen to FSU too when they start winning. It’s Florida, a lame ass fair-weather sports state all around.

This isn’t Alabama or Georgia. Tuscaloosa is about an hour from Birmingham. UGA about the same from Atlanta.
Even Mobile is a short drive than Tampa-to-Tallahassee.
Tallahassee is 4 hours from the I-4 Corridor, 5 hours from Atlanta, and 7 or 8 hours from the Southeast. You’re asking people to spend hundreds of dollars to come see a meaningless game in a rebuilding season after years of losing.

Exaclty why I'm going to one FSU game this fall but three Bama games.
I live in Birmingham and it’s more economical to go to Bryant Denny (45 minutes) and boo the Gators than to come to DCS (5-6 hours) to achieve the same end. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather be in Tally but it’s not feasible. I’ll rest on my booster laurels and see you all when Clemson comes to town.

I live in Tally, and I don’t have tickets to anything yet, but only because we just moved from Virginia and we’re kinda broke.

ill give you marlins and panthers but SIR may I remind you of a trifecta known only as the “Three KIngs” which will be playing together in Miami…
Well, yeah...
…but then everybody loved the Marlins when they bought all the talent and won the Series, too.
Miami isn’t a great non-football sport town, in my experience. The Fins and ’Canes are the only teams with strong, loyal followings.

I don't really believe in MLB cinderella stories
The Marlins are the only team to win the WS from the bottom half of the payroll rankings in the last 15 years. They were 25th in 2003 if I remember correctly.
In half the last 15 years, the WS has been won by the #1 or #2 highest spending team. (yankees or red sox)
In nine of the last 15 years, the WS has been won by teams in the top 5 of payroll.
Baseball has changed a lot since the 94 strike. Im sure there are others here who know a lot more about it than I do.
Im not saying its fact that cheap teams don’t go all the way, but I think its fair to say major league success is inclined towards the rich teams.

Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Kentucky (unless you want to count the Reds and Bengals since you counted the Panthers for South Carolina).
I wasn’t counting South Carolina, so my statement held true at 5 out of 9 states without pro sports teams and 7 of 12 schools without pro sports teams in their state.

Well I'm going to this game
But I can’t brag and say it’s in response to the surplus of empty seats. It turns out this game is on a 3 day weekend for me, which makes flying to Florida much easier to fit it. I’ve had these plans now for a few months. Regardless I hope we fill these seats up this week!
Gotta rec that
I think the Boosters have a mechanism to donate tickets you can’t use also. They go to local youth groups.

3 seniors on offense, 3 seniors on defense
We have been young for awhile now and we are still young. Now Fisher is going to play Freshman-we are going to be even younger in reality.
Question
With Stoops being the new DC…I wonder if opposing teams look at the FSU defense with a bit of curiosity/don’t know what to expect….or can they just look at what he did at Arizona and get a pretty good feel for it….do we have the athletes/discipline in such a short time span to give opposing offenses like Miami problems? I’d imagine by the time we play Miami….the defense should perform more consistenly than early on…?

I’m looking to buy 4 sets of season tickets (2 small kids), so I was considering this option, but it looks like it will be surrounded by Gators in november, and this does not please me ;)
just looking for opinions of viewing the game from there, is it recommended, etc...

Question on Tickets
I am a FSU alum (2005), My gf is a student at FSU and will get her tix from the student quota, I am planning to buy one- but I want to make sure we are sitting together. Is it possible for me to buy a single ticket and sit with her or will I need a student ticket?
for this game you can sneak in with her
for the future ask her to buy a guest pass for $50 during the online signup to sit in the student section.
Sneak in?
Are you implying I need to buy my own ticket and go with her or ask her to get me a student ticket?
For the UM game last year
I got 3 tickets by their fans and then just went straight into the student section.. No questions asked or anything.. Just get into the game early enough
No fat chicks
Thanks Guys!
I bought the ticket anyways from the FSU ticket office!
I didnt want to get there and not be able to get in which would have sucked, I will see how it goes this time and might use the student ticket for the other games.
Yeah
just keep scalping tickets or whatever. The student section is first come first serve. It is on the hot sunny side but if you get there early enough and don’t mind the heat you can get really good seats together. Really wish they did this for students when I was in school. Instead, Lame sorority and frat kids would get HUGE blocks of good seats, get there late, leave early and I was stuck on the 80th row. If it was first come/first serve when I was there? 3rd row every time.

FSU v. Samford
Too geeked up to wait for the game preview thread, so I’m stealing this from written article by Seminole Booster Prez Charlie Barnes. I knew some of this info, but the Bobby at Doak, POY and scoring facts were news to me.
For FSU, it all comes full circle:
Garnet) FSU’s first game against Samford was in 1950, where Samford’s quarterback Bobby Bowden played the same day that Doak Campbell Stadium opened.
Gold) Bowden was named Samford’s coach in 1959, then went to FSU in 1962
CP7) Freshman QB Jimbo Fisher’s first collegiate game was against Samford, where he and coach Terry Bowden won 82-9. Fisher went on to lead the nation in scoring and yardage
Chollie) Terry Bowden moved on to coach Samford and was joined by transfer Jimbo Fisher. Fisher was named national player of the year in 1987
Pooh Bear) Jimbo Fisher began coaching as Samford’s offensive coordinator in 1991
Renegade) His first game as a player was against Samford, his first game as a football coach was at Samford, and his first game as head coach of FSU is against Samford

According to their rivals page
They come in right at 1800. Granted they have one very small DE and one very small LB, and their SDE is a little undersized, but one of their LBs is 260 (more than one of their DEs).

Going to be hard
to watch those games you list. They are just warm ups. Hard to get a feel for any of those teams. Doesn’t mean I’m not hoping for a Rattler miracle. STRIKE’em Rattlers!
Marshall@Ohio St might be worth taking a look at until it reaches the second quarter. If you have Versus, definitely check out PItt@Utah. Could be an exciting game. Then of course Southern Miss@South Carolina. Those two games make for a decent Thursday intro to the season. The late game being USC@Hawaii. Maybe Kiffykens entire team implodes. If it does, I will fall asleep with a smile on my face.
Friday, ‘Zona@Toledo? Eh maybe. See how bad ’Zona does without their D coordinator. Villanova@Temple, mmm only if I’m really bored and want to watch football while I drink (good possibility of this).
Saturday things get really good of course. Might have the PC running (ESPN 3) to see if Virginia loses to Richmond just for fun. Then you have the ones that are must watch of course, OSU@TCU and LSU@UNC. The LSU@UNC game of course, to me getting, less interesting because of the uncertainty for players.
Sunday’s games, see Villanova@Temple
Monday. Oh dear sweet Monday. Get warmed up with a chance to see a conference foe face a decent team with Navy@Maryland. Then the best for last, Boise St@Virginia Tech. Don’t think I will have ever rooted as hard for VT as I will be in this game.

It’s hard to work when you look at the schedules. The thing about the 11th is that we also have the NFL Sunday and double header with Ravens-Jets Monday.
The bad part is that I remember sending emails saying 175 days to kick-off. Now we’re at 54 hours. Once it starts it seems like the 2nd week in December comes so fast. After the NFL Playoffs it’s withdrawl and depression.

Unfortunately you have to have
cable, a specific kind of cable like comcast for it to work on your XBOX. Just having xbox live doesn’t mean it will work on your 360. Plus it is only ESPN 3 content. So that means you will only have access to those games they put on there, not the entire family of networks. So you get small games, almost none are the big ticket games.

Screw subscription fees

With ESPN on Xbox LIVE, you can stream and watch over 3,500 live and on-demand sporting events plus highlights.*
• Video Kinect allows you to chat with family and friends on the big screen, right from the comfort of your living room—no headset or controller required.
• With Hulu Plus on Xbox LIVE you will be able to enjoy a customized Hulu Plus experience that will include Kinect navigation and Xbox LIVE Parties
- ESPN on Xbox LIVE provides great content from ESPN3.com and ESPN.com. For access to ESPN3.com content, including live sports, you must have an ESPN3 affiliated broadband provider. See ESPN3.com for details and providers.

I think they have the same record at the end of the year,
but Locker will have better numbers. They both have to survive the first half of their schedule, but I think the Pac-10 is down this year and Washington could surprise some people. At this point in the season though it’s pointless to guess…..although we should know who is going to win by week 8 of the season. Ingram going down doesn’t hurt Ponder’s chances and we need some of the front runners to stumble for him to have any possibility of being invited to New York.
"We didn't lose the game; we just ran out of time." - Vince Lombardi
I don't think the front runners need to stumble for CP7 to get to NY
Here’s what I think has to happen:
A) CP7 plays all 12 ( if he does, his numbers will rival any QB playing a legit sched)
2) The defense improves and doesn’t lose us games
D) CP7 has great games against OU, Clem, Miami, Florida
Coley) Finish 9-3 or better

What exactly does this reflect?
Bets about where folks will end the season ranked? If so, it is about as far as you could get from a “power ranking,” it that it is a reflection of the deplorable (though smart) scheduling practices of most of CFB.
Specifically what I am getting at is that — based on predicted final rank — UM’s and FSU’s rankings are presumably WAAAAAAYYYY lower than they would be if they didn’t have insane schedules. So from that standpoint the ACC may be horribly underrated.
But maybe I am way off on my understanding… if so, disregard.
It reflects the strength of Kenny White's power rankings...
Kenny White, former Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sports Consultants, not only believes that ‘Bama is the team to beat but the SEC is the deepest conference once again as well. In this year’s preseason rankings, the powerhouse conference has seven of the 30 schools in the 2010 preseason rankings.
The next group that has received respect from White is the ACC, who has six schools listed in the Top 30. However, it should be noted that Miami, Fl. is only ranked 10th. Frank Beamer and Virginia Tech are right behind the Hurricanes in the 11th position.
Southern California won’t be bowling this season, but gamblers can still bet on the Trojans and the folks in the desert still have them on their radar. USC is ranked eighth in the preseason rankings and is one of five Pac 10 schools listed in the poll.
The Big 10 and Big 12 both have four schools in the Top 30, plus the two conferences make up three of the first five. Some pundits could make a case for Oklahoma (3), Ohio State (4) and Texas (5), since they’re only separated by decimal points in terms of White’s power ratings.
Of the six Bowl Championship Series (BCS) conferences, the Big East is the weakest when viewing the preseason rankings. We will get to find out how good Pittsburgh (26) is early when it faces Utah in Week 1 from Salt Lake City before hosting the aforementioned Hurricanes on Sept. 23.
Mid-majors don’t garner a lot of respect as a whole, but TCU (6) and Boise State (7) are legit contenders and the oddsmakers recognize the pair. Despite losing to the Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl last year, some bettors might be surprised that the Horned Frogs still have a superior rating from White. a
Rome TV show
Talked about his interview with Bowden and had a fair take. He asked BB if he felt he “was owed one more year”. BB rambles about something like well when I was winning in the 90’s they told me to never leave but football has changed blah blah blah and I never used to see coaches get fired like they do now blah blah blah. Rome’s take: “I think BB should have had another year BUT business is business and no one is safe. Paterno is still around because he turned that corner but BB could not turn the corner. Paterno is not safe either.”
Some douche writer he had on was defending BB and said he deserved that year for all he did for FSU blah blah. Another guy looking from 3000 feet. He said “BB should have had his farewell tour and been allowed to throw down the spear in his final game. FSU looks bad on this one”. As I remember, FSU DID let him throw down the spear on his last game, moron. Rome says he can see both sides.
Douche sports writer (DSW): “Its not like they are gonna win the Natl Champ this year, what’s the harm”.
Rome: “I think the argument is that if you keep BB you put off a Natl Champ that much longer.”
DSW: “So what, BB deserves his farewell tour.”
Rome: “I think that (farewell tour) was this past year. Business is business.”
DSW: “Business is business except when it comes to BB.”
Well played DSW. I must say that DSW’s logic/defense of BB is so brilliant, it rivals the Chewbacca defense.

Ok, so BYU is apparently going independent and already has an ESPN tv contract set up. Big Ten will also split Ohio State/Michigan into separate divisions.
Multiple sources told ESPN.com that the two divisions in the Big Ten will look like:
• Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota.
• Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.
Big Ten ESPN link
Don’t think the divisions are too bad, but why not just put Wisconsin in the Mich/Neb division and put NW in the OSU/PSU division with in-stater Illinois? Only part that doesn’t really make sense. They definitely can’t do Mich/OSU/PSU in the same division with just Neb/Wisc in the other. That would be even worse.
BYU article from ESPN about independent. The ESPN tv deal is on FanHouse, the same site that said Wilder to UGA I think, so take it fwiw.
BYU just hurt their overall athletic program imo. Are people really going to go to BYU to play in the West Coast Conference in non-football sports? They did better themselves slightly in football since now their games will be on an ESPN network. With the MWC they were only on Versus nationally along with their BYU Network, which supposedly is in 50 million homes (not sure if that’s in the US or worldwide) and in many foreign countries as well. I’m interested in seeing who will schedule BYU and what their first few independent schedules look like.

They just spent an hour on the radio talking about this.
Byu signed 6 year contract with N.Dame. So, N.Dame, Texas, Hawaii, Oregon St, Utah St. Boise is gonna cancel, I believe, a 4 year home and home they had. I’m not sure what they are thinking, other than grabbing the immediate ESPN cash.
The Big question is(was): would the Mountain West have gotten an auto bid if they would have stayed?
Were they confirming the 6 yr contract
I have read BYU fans talking bout how they were going to play ND, but it seems weird for ND to basically throw a life raft to BYU like that. Personally I think this will hurt the Cougars. Their ESPN games will be on in the middle of the week because ESPN is paying more money to the SEC and ACC so they will get the best time slots. I also think they now have an almost impossible path to the BCS bowls while Utah, TCU and Boise State will all have an easier path. That will injure their recruiting as well. The money increase will be a Pyrrhic victory for them.
by osceolafan2.0 on Sep 1, 2010 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions
Pretty good they became BCS imo.
Boise State essentially replaced AND maybe slightly improved on Utah. Both Nevada and Fresno State are AT LEAST average MWC teams, adding good depth to the conference. Those factors PLUS BYU, I think, puts them over the top. Lose BYU though and you’re likely back under the threshold a little bit. I think adding 2 of Tulsa, SMU and Houston to get to 12 (unless I’ve miscounted) would help too.
So those schools you listed are on BYU’s future schedules?

Yes- they are all on future schedules..
I think Boise is gonna break the agreement though because the conference is po’d.
BYU is trying to follow the ND model.
They have a built in contingent of several million fans due to Mormon following (a la Catholics following ND).
They don’t have to rake it in like ND to come out ahead vs. what they would have gotten from the MWC…
Will be interesting to see how this works out for them.
Got off of work this weekend at the last minute...
So I will be making the drive from atlanta to t’hassee.
My question is this: having usually planned far in advance for games, I’m not really familiar with the scalping prices…I need 4 seats (together).
Should I grab the corner enzone seats on stubhub for $30 each or will there be better deals in possibly better locations on game day?
$30 each isnt bad
but for Samford you could find cheaper. If you wait closer to kickoff, or just after kickoff you can find some really cheap, but the bigger games are going to be more expensive of course
>>>──────►
I'll probably wait then...
Thanks, I just didn’t want to get down to doak and end up paying face value at the gate. Not too concerned about location for this one anyways…just gotta be there.
ya it always risky to go to a game with no tickets expecting to buy some scalped
but with all the talk about Doak not selling out i wouldnt be worried. finding 4 together might be a bit harder, but even then you can just buy 4 random tickets and find an empty section

Truth is Bobby treated it all like a business himself
It is my opinion that he long ago decided maximize the advantage for himself and his relatives and what was best for FSU seemed to come in second place. Whether that includes hiring friends, hiring relatives and several other areas.
Bowden talked a lot about records and staying on as long as Paterno but he wasn’t thinking so much about records when he hired Jeff obviously. When he saw he was becoming unpopular and many wanted him out, there was no thought to what is best for FSU. He hired promotional outfit to brush up his image and most likely tell him what line to take. They didn’t do a very good job of it either. When his wife and family began running their mouths there was not much loyalty displayed to FSU. it seemed all about maximizing profit and one more big pay day to cover some (from what we hear anyway) bad investments.

Bobby admitted to those bad investments in his final press conference
This was ignored by the national media, but it’s probably not hard to find. In his final press moment after the West Virginia win instead of handling it with class he kept mentioning how they wouldn’t give him another year. He also joked about how he lost a lot of money in real estate. That seems like absolute worst time to talk about something like that, but he did. That makes me believe that money and his legacy was always at the forefront of his mind. His ego was and still is out of control
I was wondering Bud How much do you think the Def. will change this year from last
I know that probable the biggest problem was coaching followed by size. With the added weight and the coaching staff change how much better or worse do you think the Def will be overall. No I understand that the SoS is harder but Im not looking at win lose records. I feel it will be much improved. What are yours or anyone easies thoughts.

Their careers are shorter than athletes in Baseball and Basketball (I’m disregarding hockey because that’s not relevant to an FSU discussion) so they need to make the most of their earnings while they can because after football is gone, a lot of them don’t have many prospects. If DD or Broderick made a contribution, that’d be amazing, but I wouldn’t begrudge them holding onto their earnings, cause honestly, they both probably only have another 3-4 years in the league at most.
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
I'm just not having any "pity" or whatever for these guys.
Oh no, we can only have a 10 year career and make $30M guaranteed. How awful. lol
If they want a $5M home and $2M in cars and $10M more in jewelry, clothing, and house stuff, go for it. They could easily toss FSU a cool $1M and still have 1/3 of their money to invest and live the rest of their life off of. Granted, many pro athletes are total idiots when it comes to managing their money, but I don’t have pity for that either.
I don’t begrudge any player. It would just be a very nice, and deserved contribution on their part.

Sagarin rankings are out
FSU at 23. VT at 7, Clemson at 17, GT at 25 and Miami at 28. BC at 31.
Kind of surprised to see Clemson that high and MIami that low. Week 1 rankings are stupid anyway though.
I'm not surprised at Clemson.
They have some question marks, but I think they will be very good this year. Not thrilled about containing Harper/Ellington.

Anyone watching the Miami FAMU game?
Miami looks not bad.
Berry is a tough one to bring down.
"…You can't get enough Lonnie Pryors on your football team." -Eddie Gran
Just an update
MIami is still impressive
Some of the highs:
RBs are very impressive, Berry and Miller
OL destroyed FAMU DL and really didn’t let Harris get pressure at all.
Harris looks like he gained some weight. Looked much thicker (preemptive TWSS)
and something I didn’t know, UM has the most accurate kicker in the nation returning, has 13 FG’s straight, would’ve had 14 but they botched a snap.
Seantral (sp?) Henderson is ridiculously huge and has great feet. Several times he had to beat a DE running wide and he had little problem.
I don’t know how good he is but Armstrong is a huge Safety. INT’d a crap pass, but looks quite the athlete.
The few lows:
Their LBs look small, and they seemed to have some coverage problems in the zone. Spence looks great tho.
If Harris gets hurt, they’re screwed. All the QB’s behind Harris are undersized, and under-talented. Whipped came in and had to jump to throw over the line and Armstrong looks worse.
Overall, I think they are pretty impressive, even in the blow-out.

USC is in deep shit the next few years
They are overrated right now (IMO, of course). Their DLine doesn’t has a single remotely impressive pass rusher, their LB’s are invisible, and their DB’s are suspect even against a QB that throws like shit. Seriously—inaccurate, no anticipation, crappy instincts, and the game is still somewhat in doubt.
Yes, they have Barkley for another 2 years, but the running game is already falling off and they will be CRIPPLED by their lack of depth due to sanctions.
Lane Kiffen looks like CUM (young, slimey, stuck up), but has none of the ancillary benefits like, you know……………………………actually winning games.
::roll eyes::
Oderint Dum Metuant
But, they're in the PAC 10, and have a good QB for the next 2 years.
It’ll get masked. They’ll lose 3, 4, maybe 5 a year…ride this thing out, then Lane will start reeling in the recruits again.
Formerly known as Randall W. Spetman
Gotta agree with DRusso on this one.
I think they lose more than 3 this year. Their first 4 games (Hawai’i, Minnesota, Washington State, Virginia) are the only 4 they should definitely win imo. In 3 years they’ll be losing more than they win. They apparently only have 67 scholarships right now? Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re bottom third in that conference come 2012.

The only reason their offense looked good is because it literally looks like there are no defensive coaches on the Hawai’i staff. SERIOUSLY F’n confused out there…
Seriously—THAT WAS HAWAI’I……..and not even a good Hawai’i at that. 67 scholarships today + no more then 15/season through 2013?? They are gonna suuuuuuuuuuuuuucccckkkkk assssssssssssssssssssssss……..

What can we take away from the Utah St. v Oklahoma game?
Utah St. never really threatened Oklahoma for the win, but they put up 421 total yards and 24 pts, but turned the ball over 4 times. Landry played the whole game & threw 2 TDs and 2 INTs; Demarco Murry ran for 218 yards.

Oklahoma may be still adjusting to a new secondary coach like we are
they will give the ball to Murry until he hurts himself as they have done the last two seasons…

I'm sure Stoops has the hand in the grand scheme of things on the D
But he doesn’t teach the DBs, and perhaps Martinez emphasizes different things that the current DBs haven’t adjusted to.
The point is, OU DB’s sucked it up big vs USU. Many WRs were wide open and USU couldn’t capitalize on it. Ponder will if it continues.

I'm sure they played backups.
Just like we had Jones, Williams, McCloud, McAllister, Werner, Hicks, Joyner and Harris all get significant reps with the 1st team. But if you mean did they put in a complete 2nd/3rd string I highly doubt it. Wouldn’t make any sense at all. It was only 21-10 at the half and it was 31-24 after the third.

Gates talking about having to bench Pouncey his senior year and Meyer had no idea that Debose didn’t even play a snap the whole game. And on the Ole Miss site the loss was so hard on one of their writers that he more of less taking a sabbatical from Ole Miss fandom.

Disagree with that one
Miles is taking LSU down the same path Bowden took us down with a fraction of the resume. Doubt he takes LSU as far down the road, but he and his staff didn’t take LSU to the peaks we saw either. But Miles is the driving force behind LSU going from a top 5 program in the nation to falling back to the pack at the 15-25 range. If we lined up against them tomorrow I would expect us to win by 10 or more.

That is what some of them are saying if you read the threads. Lester is inked through 2012 and one of said if they fire him there will be no money to hire another coach. He gets 4 million a year.

A clear TD called an OOB completion, the refs blatantly trying to run the clock down on a goal line attempt, and then turning a blind eye to Brissett as he was 3-4 feet into the endzone.

I thought the LBs did a good job in the zone scheme.
I think the LB is one of the more difficult positions for a zone scheme, read the run, read the back out in the flats, read the receivers coming across, etc. looked like our LBs had the center of the field covered well. I havent watched the replay yet so this is just from the live game.

Those pics of her playing lacrosse weren’t that great though.
Friedgen talking about his kids having “fight” and the “ebb and flow” of games. Just found it funny.

Yeah, the lacrosse pics weren't flattering.

Okay, urban meyer is confusing me...
Friday, September 3:
“I’m very pleased with where we’re at right now,” Florida head coach urban meyer said. “We’ve had an excellent week of practice and we’re ready to go.”
Saturday, September 4 (after the game):
“I foresaw that this thing was coming,” meyer said. “There’s so much you expect to do. When you have older players, it goes like clockwork. Two weeks ago, it was not clockwork.”
He did say that he didn’t expect the offensive incompetence, and I suppose things could have looked bad two weeks ago but not bad on Friday after a great week of practice… but I don’t buy the, “I’m very pleased” comment followed by the “I saw this coming” comment. That sounds a bit like backtracking/CYA, doesn’t it, urbie?
It means another possible trip to Shands

Does anyone get Mark May?
May: UM had 8 sacks against FAMU, better watch out Pryor
Holtz: If I had 1 tv I’d be watching Oklahoma FSU.
……. Goes on to say FSU looked crisp Okla didn’t
May comes back but it was Samford!!!
FAMU isn’t that much greater than Samford, IMO
(Also I know both of these guys are a joke)
No fat chicks
Mark May hates FSU
ironically enough, though, he picked us to win it at in 05 with a Redshirt Freshman at QB. Dude’s a clown.
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
What is the process for getting away game tickets?
Thinking about going to the Miami game. Does anyone have an idea what the price will be?
ticketmaster i bet, ebay.
I just got some awesome seats for an NFL game on Ebay.

2:38
That was the amount of time I could take his ramblings. And I was not even paying attention the whole time. I’ll never get that 2:38 back. sigh.
Oh, and I found the video before
because I was looking at FSU/Samford highlights. FSUFrenzy did a good job.
The Samford game
Is about to be on Sunsports again. Looks like the last time this week they are playing it.
