A little premature, but tailgating at JRS is good anywhere since it is wide open spaces.
What we do for Phins and FSU/scUM games is we all meet at a predetermined place and drive into the reserved lot together, however many cars we are taking, and park next and behind each other leaving extra space between cars. Our normal group usually goes in 4 cars and we form our own little block and we have room for lawn chairs and a large gas grill in our little private area.
As far as places to party, it all depends on if you are talking about the night before the game, your budget, where you are staying, your age, and if you want live music or pick up bars. For example, if you are a student, you might want to drive to South Beach for the experience, but you probably could not afford the clubs. I can give you more specific info on most of these as we get closer to the game since it would be silly to start discussing this now.

Our hotel last year was right next to a bar called Fritz and Franz Bierhaus
We had a blast there, they had Oktoberfest going on. I imagine we’ll be back there this year.
I lived within a couple miles of that Stadium for 7 years
If you want to tailgate, do it at the Stadium. The parking lots are huuuuuuuuuuge. Do not, I repeat DO NOT attempt to get to the game late. Traffic is murder for miles around on game days.

But the ACC pools all the money and disburses travel payments to cover costs of the bowl games. Then they split the remaining revenue evenly amongst the schools.

I've got an outside shot to getting to Norman for the game this weekend
I’m kind of low on funds being a recent grad that hasn’t found a job yet, and I’d hate to make the trip out there to watch us lose, but it would be unreal if get got the W…
My mom used to be a flight attendant so I fly for very cheap (stand by), I’d have to buy a buddy pass for my friend that would pay for the game tickets, so roughly $200 for two plane tickets would basically cover my entrance to the game.
Is this one of those games where it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to get out to an atmosphere like that for an FSU road game?
What are your guys’ thoughts?
Yes
As much as I dislike OUsucks, since I also pull for the Longhorns, they do have a storied program and one of the iconic stadiums (so do we). You may be unemployed but if you can pull it together, you won’t regret it, IMHO.
No question.
FSU has the great (relatively) to be one of the few teams to walk out of Norman with a win. Gotta take if you can.

I agree. He was a very good college player.
That happened to look all-world against UCLA.
Reggie Bush was made out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Turns out, he’s Leon Washington-lite.
How about the genius performance by Jeff Bowden? Got an explanation for that?
PAC10 of that era, at least, made for glowing offensive performances.
by arrdub on Sep 7, 2010 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Reggie is on the wrong team
They spread the ball around so much, he doesn’t get a shot to touch the ball much. He’s extremely effective on PR’s.
If he got a chance to run the ball more often, I think he’d be a better-than-average back. Better than Leon, IMO
Formerly known as Randall W. Spetman
I disagree.
He gets the ball plenty on passes and sweeps, but I don’t think he’d be better than Leon if he got more runs. I have friends that work with the Saints and they all complain about how he doesn’t run hard and doesn’t have the best attitude/work ethic. I think that he is a great PR and is a great 3rd down back/slot receiver type, but he cannot run in between the tackles, which Leon can do. Reggie is just better in space.
>>>-----------;;;-->CP7 for Heisman>>>-----------;;;-->
Of course he can't run between the tackles.
That’s not his game. Which kinda makes the “Leon Washington Lite” comparison a bit silly.
Anyways, it’s gotta be difficult to balance everything, but I think Payton is starting to figure it out. Personally, I think that he’d probably get more touches on a different offense, but if that would equate to more production, I cannot say.
Shame that he doesn’t “run hard”. The guy is a legitimate home run threat every time he touches the ball IN the NFL. Not bad IMO
Formerly known as Randall W. Spetman

just something to look out for.
definitely would not “have some crud on him” even if game were outside.
Certainly not the best football player of his era,
as his college highlights/stats might have suggested. The point being, PAC10 defenses were ridiculously weak. VY was the better college player that year.
He had other great games
Just so happened that in the NC game he had the best performance many of us had ever seen.

Head to head. That’s how a lot of stuff is decided. If the Heisman was awarded after that game there would have been no contest.
then the heisman would be decided on 1 game.

Weinke edged Oklahoma quarterback Josh Heupel for college football’s most coveted individual prize by 76 points in the seventh tightest Heisman race.
So should Weinke’s Heisman be given to Heupel, who won in the head-to-head NCG?
Heupel didn't put up an all-world performance against Weinke
And Weinke didn’t try a lateral 40 yards down field that cost his team points.

Hey
He only said that these things are won head-to-head, not that one player had to outplay the other significantly. ;-)
Yes, IF....
Weinke had been found in direct violation of the rules and guidelines dictating the awarding of the Heisman Trophy. If Bush is found guilty of violating those rules and guidelines (set forth by the Heisman Trust), then yes he should give it back, and IMO Young should receive it, though the classy thing to do would be to say thanks but no thanks, I’ll keep my Championship ring I won over that jackhole.
I think getting 1st place in a popularity contest after
the group decided you already weren’t popular enough is really insulting. A better method would be in the record books say “No Heisman, voided trophy. Leading in votes Vince Young.”
Your post didn't indicate the Bush scandal
It just implied that the Heisman should have been handed out after the NCG, and that based on the head-to-head game the trophy would have went to VY.
no
what it said was that Vince “should’ve” gotten it. It was my opinion, and also my opinion that the NC game showed that the vote was wrong…in my opinion.
ESPN saying "Despite reports by Yahoo Sports...Trust hasn't made a decision".
Whatever ESPN.
I don’t think you can argue Bush or Young though. They were both fantastic players. Young meant more to his team, clearly, but the merits of the award are so loosely defined you can’t argue who wins.

I was reading this article at Smart Football and thinking, I have seen that offense somewhere else. This seems to be exactly what Jimbo is trying to do. Can two ACC teams play each other three times in one season?
I have a question and couldn’t figure out where to ask it, but this thread seems most relevant….Can two ACC teams play each other three times in one season? I am particularly curious if FSU could play Miami in the regular season, the ACC Championship, and the National Championship or Orange Bowl? Of course this may not be realistic this year, but next year if the college football gods aligned, is this possible???
I mean, it would certainly seem possible
Let’s say, hypothetically, FSU goes 12-0 in some season in the future, while Miami goes 9-3 (because they face a brutal schedule OOC, going 7-1 in the ACC and 2-2 out of conference). Now in this scenario, FSU wins the Atlantic and Miami wins the Coastal. We play in the ACC championship game, Miami wins placing them in the Orange Bowl pretty much automatically. Then, assuming we don’t still end up in the NC game by a stroke of luck, and none of the other bowls choose us, I could see the Orange Bowl pitting us against one another.
But it’s highly unlikely.
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
Ya but that was slightly different even
after they lost to us, UF played another game. So at least their final game of the year wasn’t a loss to us followed by a rematch. The Championship game allows for the pretense of “things may have changed since they last played.” In the situation I described, that wouldn’t exist.

More on my question
I assume the Orange Bowl has a rule in place that two ACC teams can’t play each other, but if both teams are one loss teams after the ACC Championship with their losses to each other being similair to last years Labor Day game, or even better, overtime losses to each other, is a National Championship a possibility? Afterall, LSU had two losses a couple years ago and made it that far.
After the Oklahoma/Texas thing a couple years ago, I don't think any teams that play one another in a conference championship will ever play one another in a title game

HD: Frank Beamer’s philosophy is that it gets the best from his players early, that he has their focus all summer. I think the Hokies should be applauded for scheduling tough games. I’d much rather watch the excitement of Monday night than the duds against the creampuffs. Plus, you’ve got to schedule a tough game to boost your strength of schedule if you want to be a national title contender. You know how it goes, in order to be the best, you’ve gotta beat the best? Well, in order to do that, you’ve gotta line ’em up.

I won't call it a tough schedule....tougher than 2009? Definitely.
2009
UT-Chat, North Texas, FIU, Virginia Tech
2010
Georgia State, San Jose State, Duke, Penn State
- Duke is the only difference from 2009 to 2010. Alabama goes from 1 solid OOC game plus 3 cupcakes to 1 solid team, 1 respectable team, and 2 doormats. This is similar to 2008 Florida where they played Miami, FSU, Hawaii, and the Citadel. I would even contend that 2008 Florida had a tougher road.

You'd think that she'd read TN and learn a lil something since it's her full-time job to be knowledgable about such matters.
I think the Hokies should be applauded for scheduling tough games [plural]. I’d much rather watch the excitement of Monday night than the duds against the creampuffs. Plus, you’ve got to schedule a tough game to boost your strength of schedule if you want to be a national title contender [maybe if you’re Boise, but not if you’re VT]. You know how it goes, in order to be the best, you’ve gotta beat the best? Well, in order to do that, you’ve gotta line ’em up [plural].
She’s talking about more than one game. That she was inconsistent with the conjugation in one sentence does not demonstrate her knowledge of smart scheduling. If I had a boner for her, I might think she was talking about 1 OOC game per year and esplain the plural terms as referring to 1 tough OOC on a year-in, year-out basis. She wouldn’t friend me on Facebook.

I have a problem with "dregs of society" reality TV.
Not because its not tremendously entertaining, but because 11-16 year olds don’t realize that people watch the show because people like watching idiots. They emulate the behavior because they want to be popular and on TV too.
Reality TV like that is a sign of the end of society as we know it.

Difficult dilemma: UF or USF?
Who do you want to win?
Obviously, everyone’s first instinct is to want UF to lose every game, by as large a margin as possible. But put that aside.
I have always been of the more logical belief that as long as FSU consistently beats the gators every season, it is actually better for us if they remain competitive / elite. See the 1990’s. Their higher ranking makes for a more quality win, and leads to a better perception of FSU as their superior in the polls and minds of recruits. Also makes for better games and a more important rivalry. Obviously, that’s been moot for the last six years. And during that time, most of us are just happy to see them slip and not win the NC, whether against Mississippi or Arkansas, whatever.
After the mighty Miami (OH) juggernauts’ visit last weekend, UF looks vulnerable. We can taste it. We’re not confident yet, but every one of us is thinking that if, just if, our defense jels to competence, and UF’s OL and Brantley continue to struggle, we might have a chance to end the streak this season.
But: Would you really want USF to be the giant killer first, especially this season?
I say no. I would rather FSU get that glory—which would make a tangible difference with recruiting—even if it isn’t this year. Even if it’s next year. I want UF to be riding high, so they fall farther when we decapitate the Queen. Especially since USF would get so much symbolic mileage and masturbatory pleasure from stopping us last year and UF this year. I think in the big picture, it is important USF lose Saturday, preferably by 2 TD’s.
You have one minute for rebuttal. Go.
"There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese." -- Coach Finstock
I agree......
Rather UF lose in the SEC to teams we can beat for
recruits.
......and let the paramedics sort 'em out!
i want uf to win
its the only time I’ll want that to happen.
USF is like your girlfriend’s annoying little brother. You decided to play him in some sport, lets just say basketball for the sake of one on one comparisons, a few days after recovering from mono. You play on a reputable varsity basketball team and he’s only 12 years old. You let him have ball first and kinda half ass it through the game. its close but you feel like you can turn the switch and dominate whenever you want. Without really knowing it he has game point and hits a lucky shot when he chucked the ball at the basket that got a decent roll.
Now whenever you see him he brings up that game and how he beat you. You might just be walking over to your girlfriends house to return her ipod or borrow her notes from class and the kid has to run down the stairs and scream that he beat you. Her mom might stop by your house to talk to your mom with the kid in the backseat and he has to roll down the window and talk trash to you. Then he needs to explain it to your mom and his mom that he dominated you despite the fact that you weren’t really trying. Now he’s barging in you girlfriends room to talk trash all of the time. You can’t get any alone time with her. Always the obnoxious kid.
It’s just one game and you know that nobody really cares that he beat you that one time. They see you have talent by watching you play against legitimate high school basketball players. They figure you went easy on him and he got some lucky breaks.
But you don’t care. You’re an athlete and super competitive and just want that kid to shut the heck up.
Now he convinced another decent player to play a game with him. You think the kid is a jerk and generally wish nothing positive will ever happen to him. But you fear that if the jerk doesn’t give it his all, and the obnoxious kid wins again, you’ll never be able to go to your girlfriends house again (let alone get some action) without him interrupting and hearing about how he’s the best basketball player in the world.
Some things are more important than rivalries.

That's not quite right
You used to play on a reputable varsity basketball team, but since you graduated 10 years ago you’ve just been living in your parents’ basement and getting stoned all day with your buds from HS. Your parents have threatened to kick you out, but you were a good kid up until you graduated from HS, so they keep giving you another chance. And they pay you a $4 million allowance, for reasons no one can fathom. Etc.
FWIW, unless we play another SEC team, I think I might pull for UF to win all their SEC games and lose all of their OOC games, but the first part would be really hard to do. If we play another SEC team and beat them, then I would be even happier if that team won all their SEC games and UF just lost all their games, period. Or something like that.
Great Post
I went through something similar when my uncle beat me in a game of one on one. I’ll never hear the end of it.

Not only does it take another big whack out of the UF hype machine, but there's no chance USF is able to capitalize on the win.
Much like they failed to capitalize on beating WVU, Auburn and us the past several years. They’ve never won their conference. They’re .500 in their history in the BE. UConn, Rutgers, Pitt and WVU are all expected to be better than USF. Go ahead and beat the gates.

Part of my hate for Gainesville stemmed from a similar incident
the summer between my freshman and my sophomore year, my JV basketball team was invited to go up to UF to be a part of a huge summer tournament. It was a big deal because many legit varsity teams (Sasha Kahn was there and I wanna say that Darius Washington was there but I can’t really remember) were also there along with several college scouts (we weren’t playing in that division but just being around it was a big deal for 14-15 year olds).
We ended up playing extremely well, beating the 16 and under national team from some Caribbean Island that I don’t remember and that put us in the championship game.
For the championship game we were matched up against some local Alachua County team. Despite a physical game played by both sides the Alachua County team was given something like 37 freethrows to our 7. Despite the foul disparity we were still only down by 5. Our best player was literally tackled on a three point attempt and there was no call.
The local refs obviously wanted the local team to win.
This began the long line of reasons why I hate Gainesville and UF.

Miss September (Heather D) a bit confident in our game against OU
Florida State 31, Oklahoma 21: Florida State’s offensive line will be the difference in this game, as it will pave the way for the running game and the play-action passes. The Seminoles will snap the Sooners’ nation-leading 31-game home winning streak. Christian Ponder will come out of this game with some Heisman hype and the defense will have shaken the ghosts of last year.

i just heard some dousche-hole on espn picking ou to win b/c we 'despite the new scheme, fsu just doesnt have the horses on defense'
um…im pretty sure we start four 5 star recruits, (w/ two 5 star backups) and four 4 star players on defense -
not that the recruiting stars mean everything, but normally theyre at least a decent indicator of talent -
so the point is: its not that we don’t ‘have the horses’ – its a matter of getting young talent up to speed, and getting ‘old’ talent to learn a new system -
and im not saying we’re clearly a great d, or that we’re going to dominate them – rather that the problem on d isnt the talent level, its the newness of the system, and this moron should know that…
you’d hope that someone who gets paid to analyze college football would least know more than me..
Stars out of high school mean nothing.
Many players under perform who have five stars and many who have three stars become first round draft picks. It’s how the coaching staff’s at a particular university choose to develope those players. And five stars also normanlly means you have a huge ego to work with too which makes it more likely you will underachieve.
That is not true - Just ask Bobby.......
Fred Rouse cost him another year……
i wouldnt say they mean 'nothing'
in fact i agree theyre not entirely infallible, but you have to admit theyre often reliable –
our defensive 5 stars:
j mcdaniel
m white
n bradham
c jones
g reid
l joyner
you have to admit that 5 of the 6 are great talents who are now, or should be (barring injury) great college players, and at least have a chance of being high draft picks -
but im not trying to argue that they star system is perfectly reliable, rather that we do have very good talent on d, our only question mark is getting them to perform in the new system..
quite the opposite of the dousche-hole’s point altogether…
No.

yeah - it depends on who you trust -
and i know those ratings are fluid and the difference b/t a star can sometimes just be the number of camps a recruit attends, and have nothing to do w/ his ability -
but my point was (is) that they offer some level of reliability – and no one can intelligently argue that we don’t have talented players on d –
our problem never was/is a lack of talent, rather our number one problem on d – has been coaching/scheme –
and now our biggest issue is implementing that scheme for only the second game -
so that ass-master on espn could not be more wrong in his reasoning..
Ok, mhmmm it is...

You need to read the series on the side
entitled stars matter. The argument that some five stars under perform and some 3 stars go to the NFL is completely anecdotal. When you actually look at the numbers 4 and 5 star players are much more likely to become All-Americans and also more likely to go to the NFL. There are just less 4 and 5 star players playing ball so on gross numbers you remember more 3 stars going to the NFL, and due to the hype 5 star busts stick out in your mind more than a 3 star who rides the bench for 4 years.

“We had, I told them, the worst shower discipline of any team I’ve ever been around. So we talked a little bit about application of soap to the rag and making sure you hit all your body. You know, you can neglect it trying to cut corners, and it shows in how you practice and elsewhere. I’m hoping we show some improvement in that.”
Aside from making us think of this, we cannot get enough of this story. How bad at showering and cleaning yourself do you have to be before your coach intervenes? How was this clinic conducted? Were, ahem, volunteers needed to demonstrate the proper amount of time one should wash each armpit? What is “shower discipline”—not skeeting in the offensive line coach’s shampoo bottle? How is “shower discipline” measured? Does every team chart “shower discipline,” or is Derek Dooley just a glorious buffoon? College football is great.
i think we now know how uf was so good while timmay was there
my sources tell me he was head of shower-discipline, and that he took it upon himself to monitor every team shower – often going so far as to augment the insufficient techniques of some of his teammates and coaches..

O'Leary's apology
I want to offer my sincere apologies and regrets for my actions. I made a poor decision at the end of an extremely intense and hard-fought game, and my actions came in the heat of the moment following a disappointment suffered by my entire team. Regardless, my actions were unfortunate and inexcusable. I have embarrassed myself and many others. I want to apologize to my teammates, my coaches, my school, my friends and family, and the community and state we were representing. I also wish to apologize to the players and coaching staff at Glenville. They played with talent and with heart, and they did not deserve my disrespect.
Our team traveled hundreds of miles at irregular hours. We scored three times in the last two minutes and were never awarded a touchdown. I was upset. I acted poorly. I regret my actions but feel as if my team has been punished enough. Now because of me they are being punished again. They have suffered enough. I want to move forward and learn from my mistakes.
The coaches and the school have disciplined me. I have read the Student-Athletes’ Code of Conduct and will comply with it in the future.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Nick O’Leary
I love how he had to get the we scored 3 times in the last 2 minutes in

Took Bobby’s excuse of the 4 and 5 star kids not being as good as advertised and ran with. He actually said that other than G5 we have no special talent on the defensive side of the ball at all.

Jenkins, Mcdaniel, White, Bradham, and Harris are all starters and were all 4 or 5 stars. This isn’t including backups loaded with stars including Jones, Luc, and Joyner. Problem wasn’t talent….it was coaching.

I disagree. We have had talented teams.
We just had a program stuck in the 90’s in terms of coaching, conditioning, and organization as a team. We might have had some bad recruiting years in the early to mid 2000’s, but besides that we have had plenty of recruiting classes loaded with star players.

I agree we had VERY talented defenses in the 2000's.
But the 2009 defense was far from and it was coached poorly. Last year, out of our starters, how many would’ve started in 2004 or so? Maybe none. How many would’ve seen significant pt? Probably 3.
2004 defense:
Bunkley, Travis Johnson, Cromartie, Jerome Carter, Leroy Smith, Pat Watkins, Timmons, BJ Ward, Marcello Church, Busta Davis, Sam McGrew, AJ Nicholson, Ernie Sims, Andre Fluellen, Clifton Dickson, Chris Bradwell, Darrell Burston, Eric Moore and Wimbley.

New Poll Rankings
I like that Oregon State is ranked #25 in the AP despite not having won a game yet this season.
Gano just kicked a clutch field goal for the redskins
noles, marlins, phins
He's been so good in the off-season and in training camp
That Shanahan never even brought in another kicker to battle for the spot with him. In fact, the only kicks he missed in training camp were due to the rotation at long snapper while they’ve been trying out different guys.
The Skins never have any FSU players, just Miami guys, so I’m happy to finally get someone from the Seminoles.

by NorthernHaze on Sep 13, 2010 9:59 AM EDT up reply actions
They really didn't
Were extremely lucky to win that game. Dallas handed it to them on a silver platter. 3 punts inside your opponent’s 40, 4 on their side of the 50, a missed FG, drive after drive killed by stupid penalty, an offensive gameplan that seemed to be “open it up till we cross the opposing 30, then quick hitch and screen pass em to death.” AND Dallas still had a last second chance to win it.
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
Uhhhh what?
And the Redskins shanked a punt that landed inside their own 35 yard line, which led to the Cowboys’ only TD. On top of the Cowboys’ continuous holding all night from their backup OL (only about half of which was actually called, including the game’s final play), the Redskins dropping 2 gimme INTs from Romo, and a botched snap on a FG attempt.
It was honestly two pretty sloppy offenses against two very good defenses. Both teams missed opportunities equally.
To say “Dallas handed it to the Redskins on a silver platter” is something either a Cowboys homer would say, or ESPN with their Cowboys hard-on.
by SeminoleSkins87 on Sep 14, 2010 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions
Or someone who isn't a fan of either team who watched the game
The Cowboys would move the ball, then suddenly run quick hitches and bubble screens. The Redskins couldn’t even do that much. I watched a Cowboys team shoot themselves in the foot all night and a Redskins team that picked up a stupid (lucky?) fumble right before half to score their only TD. I hate the Cowboys and am indifferent to the Redskins, but that’s the game I watched.
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
I would agree that the Cowboys didn't help themselves a few times
Particularly with getting away from the running game too quickly on some occasions (although a lot of their running success was due to the Redskins defense playing entirely against the pass, and when the Skins played the run, the Cowboys didn’t gain anything on the ground- even Cowboys fans have said as much). But they had to try to run quick hitches and screens because they couldn’t block the Redskins blitzes since they didn’t know where guys were coming from. If their o-line is too terrible right now without Kyle Kosier and Marc Colombo to effectively block the opposing defense, that they either cause drive-killing holding or false start penalties or force playcalling to change into a weakness, how is that a gift-wrap on their part? That’s just the state of the Cowboys offense right now (and has been for a couple of years now under Jason Garrett- they either get big plays for quick TDs, or don’t score at all). That’s not shooting yourself in the foot when your o-line is simply incapable of doing anything better because the defense’s pressure is forcing mistakes from them. That’s as simple as the defense overwhelming the o-line.
The Cowboys only TD came after the Redskins shanked a punt that landed inside their own 40 yard line. That’s equally a gift wrap from the Redskins.
The Tashard Choice fumble before the 2nd half was partly a gift because the Cowboys were dumb enough to call that instead of taking a kneel down. But DeAngelo Hall just punched the ball out and ran it back. That’s straight up a great defensive play when given the opportunity, no gift there. Luck would have been if Gurode snapped the ball over Romo’s head and Hall grabbed it and ran it in, or Romo dropped back to pass and just let the ball slip out of his hands. Forced fumbles aren’t lucky.
The Redskins would have gone up 17-0 in the 3rd quarter if they hadn’t botched the snap on a chip shot FG attempt, taking points off the board and keeping it a 2 possession game. Redskins make that field goal and the Cowboys effectively have no chance to come back at that point.
And let’s not forget that the Cowboys’ first FG attempt that they missed came on a drive that was kept alive after a nonsense unnecessary roughness call on London Fletcher on 3rd-and-9 that even Collinsworth couldn’t explain as a legit penalty.
And on the last drive for the Cowboys, Carlos Rogers dropped an easy pick that would have iced the game, and LaRon Landry did the same thing just a couple of plays later. So those would be gifts for the Cowboys from the Redskins’ defense, if you want to play that game with it.
I don’t think the Redskins are that good this year. I think they’re about an 8-8 type of team that could possibly make a run for a Wild Card spot if certain things align the right way, but that’s their ceiling right now.
But to act like the Cowboys gave that game away is a joke. Both teams screwed things up at key moments.
by SeminoleSkins87 on Sep 15, 2010 4:17 PM EDT up reply actions
holding the cowboys offense to such a low amount of yards/points is credited to the Redskins defensive abilities.
the fumble and the holding call were two dumb moves that lost the game for them. In effect they handed the win over to the redskins.
Had the Redskins done anything at all on offense we wouldn’t be talking about this at all.
yeah, they looked terrible
I’m a lot more optimistic for my Giants after watching that game and less optimistic after watching Michael Vick play.

Also said one guy had a ticket on FSU +7.5 for $27,500.00 and the place went nuts on last play – over was 58. Anyway, said Oklahoma shutting down FSU offense was more impressive than them scoring 47 points, but we all knew that already.
Wait, I was laughing because you posted this pic right away....
It didn’t dawn on me that it was actually your ticket. If so, my apologies because that is not funny….

Ken White Weekly Radio Spot Highlight
Said Oklahoma didn’t care about their first game, and they are more indicative of their performance last week than in week one. That game said more about Oklahoma than FSU. “It’s a travesty that they dropped out of the Las Vegas Rankings. Florida State is an excellent, excellent football team. The team speed at home even in a favorable revenge spot will be much too much for BYU.” Such is the luck for the BYU Old Hoes…..
Anyone find it interesting that Air Force beat BYU at home last week
and now goes on the road to face OU while BYU comes to Tallahassee? Does Air Force put up a better fight than FSU vs OU? Does BYU have a better performance at FSU than they did in their loss at Air Force?
It would be nice to see OU handle Air Force and us beat BYU by a similar margin that Air Force did (21 points).

As stated elsewhere,
I think some real concerns should surface if we don’t beat BYU handily. Aside from odd scenarios playing out (injury, fumbles, weather, etc.), I think a margin of 3+ TDs is a very reasonable mark to shoot for.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Air Force keeps it closer than we did. They won’t abandon the run even if they get way behind, and I doubt OU has dedicated the same level of R&D to that game that they did for ours.
Very good point about level of scouting
Shouldn’t look at the performance of OU/Air Force in relation to us. Also, as that OU fan that was visiting here stated, Landry tends to be a hot/cold QB.
I expect/want a similar score for us that Air Force had vs BYU (38-17 is my hope).
I also expect Air Force to do better than we did vs OU, but I’d still like to see them get beat easily. Like the game’s no longer really in question by half time.

Went to my first Seattle Seahawks game over the weekend.
I;ve been to one other NFL game (NO @ DAL ‘09) and the experience was similar. I love college football atmosphere, NFL can’t compare. But since i live here in Seattle and love all kinds of football, Seahawks it is.
I enjoyed the Seahawks game much more than the Cowboys game. The Cowboys stadium is ridiculous, and I loved it. But the fans are also ridiculous and I don’t really like them at all. Too many, too old, professional drinkers getting crazy drunk.
The Seahawks game had a much younger crowd that was almost collegiate. Yes many drank a ton, but they weren’t obnoxious about it. The stadium in Seattle is also really neat, for its own reasons. Its like a round bowl, but that someone cracked open wider at one end than the other, they do this to take advantage of the temperate weather in Seattle (the ‘rain’ is a drizzle that you don’t really even need to cover up for). There is a lot of fresh air that blows through the stadium and feels great.
Its also the loudest stadium I’ve ever been to. (I’ve been to all the home FSU games for the last 3 years) The Stadium keeps track of (and lead the NFL in) false start penalties by opposing teams. They take a lot of pride in making tons of noise (I wish FSU would look at some of the promotions and things they do there to get their fans wound up) even though they are in the bottom tier for number of fans (~67,000 i believe).
Over all great experience, I’d recommend to any sports fan to try to get into different games of different teams than what you are used to. Its a great way to see a lot of differences and learn to enjoy the game in different ways.

You can usually find it in some Gator homer clips from last years games
but you have to wade through a lot of garbage to get there
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
Search for the Gator highlight reel for that game.
Its somewhere on youtube about midway through the video.
Did you ever even play the game? I guarantee I can coach my Little League team to beat yours 10 times out of 10.

So Kolb was ok to go back in the game Sunday because he injured his "jaw".
But yet 3 days later he fails a neurological concussion test? Interesting, Eagles. Interesting.

Yeah, I don't get that. Furthermore-
Steward Bradley suffered a concussion, was falling around woozy, and the Eagles let him back into the game for a few plays before he finally came out.
That could have been a disaster had he taken an awkward hit or made a big tackle.

Fox Sports has us 2nd most disappointing team in the country....
Behind VaTech and ahead of Miami
That’s real cute……
Wow
How does Mississippi rank? I think half way through the season some contenders for that might/should be LSU, maybe Auburn, Oregon might falter, Georgia (though I did pick them to get beat by SC). Georgia Tech would be above FSU for me right now.. What about the Big East as a conference? Week 2 and they only have 2 teams in the conference without a loss. And going from memory their hardest OOC game was what, USF vs Florida? They didn’t have OU, Miami, Boise, etc. Put me on Fox Sports damn it.

Ole Miss wasn't hyped as much as we were.
And our debacle against JSU may have legitmized them in the minds of some. However, I do agree with you and am just offering rationalization.

Very true.
But the FSU hype was their own damn fault. HAHA.

I would hope the true freshman QB as opposed to a former LSU QB and the weather would play a role.
But the media isn’t that bright.

Which is why I don't read Fox Sports outside of some Fantasy Football articles
I think the Big East is definitely worse than the ACC, and is only going to get worse in the future, but the difference between the ACC and the next conference up is still formidable. FSU just really needs to get its own act together.

Having us 2nd is ridiculous....
10. WVU 9. USC 8. GA 7. Fla 6. Pitt 5. LSU 4. UCLA 3. Miami 2. FSU 1. VaTech.
yeah, want to know the reasoning behing that.
They got thrashed by a top 10 team after going 7-6?!?!?! WOW what a let down!

It's like the old saying
The public loves a good hero, but they love even more to tear one down.
The media loves hyping up the return of FSU, but is usually pretty quick to knock the team when it falters. Then again, it’s not like a lot of these media outlets spend time breaking down the real issues each team faces, the truth behind different team statistics, reasonable seasonal outlooks, etc.

Where is the weekly football wagering thread this year? Really enjoyed that last year.

Wow. ESPN actually highlighted the fact that there have been over 30 arrests at UF since '05 on Sportscenter
They put a graphic up showing the 5 arrests since June and mentioned the Hammond DUI had two open bottles of Crown Royal in the car. Apparently Urban wasn’t upset about this and didn’t think it needed correction until it received national media coverage with Rainey. He comedically mentioned that if graduation rates are too low he will have to do something to fix it. You know its really bad when your biggest supporter, ESPN, says you have a problem.
On a real note, what is going on at UF? If all the recruits say its such a family atmosphere and they all care about each other, how much of Urban’s religious and family values can possibly be rubbing off on these kids? You can’t control every kid and these things will happen regardless but the number of problems under him are unusually high. And if these kids really love and respect Urban so much, why would they continue to put so much added stress and pressure on the guy with their actions when he quit last year due to stress? Urban was sitting down in the interview and sounded very fatigued…almost like he didn’t care. No fire or intimidation of the media like usual to “protect” his kids. Somethings not right over there and it looks like Urban is still worn out and that its starting to show on the field.

take this for what it's worth
but my sister was good friends with the sister of an army all american who went through the whole UF football system and ended up graduating early because he hated playing for UM. He actually considered transferring after his sophomore year but there was too much pressure from friends/family not to leave a national championship team.
Granted, football coaches (well, coaches in general) aren’t supposed to be “best friends” with the players and results definitely come from forcing your players to push themselves to their best, but UM isn’t really who he pretends to be when he’s in practice and behind closed doors.
I think all these facts and the growing discord with the arrests in Gainesville is starting to backfire on Meyer
It won’t be long before we out recruit them (at least in the state) and it might even happen this year if we get some of the guys we are hoping for. I honestly hope that Fisher continues to only recruit guys who are higher in character. I know these are 18-22 y.o. guys and some are going to mess up, but Meyer’s control over that program continues to show more and more with every passing month. Things are bound to go downhill eventually
Sometimes college football fans can be real dicks, but if it puts the Turds in a bad light, I prefer to just sit back, watch, and probably laugh.
The Chris Rainey "Time to Die" T-shirts are already being sold in Knoxville in preparation for this week’s game between the Turds and Tennessee.
ESPN ’s Joe Schad directed his followers to Clay Travis of AOL Fanhouse, who tweeted this: "Had to happen. Orange ‘Time to Die’ tshirts have hit Knoxville for UT-UF."

Gator DT Lawrence Marsh won't play @ the Vols due to a sink mishap.
Maybe D. Dooley could share some bathroom tips with the gates at halftime tomorrow?
I don't know of mentioned before
But Chris Restrainey’s “girl friend” is 36 years old. The word is she has a track record of dating football players.
There seems to be something in the wind here because usually ESPN just fails to mention the mayhem at UF but now they are making it public. Could be Meyer is going to hang it up after this season.

Yet another reason why McShay is a douche
Smith asks McShay his opinion of Ponder as a pro prospect. McShay says “Meh, he can be good in a west coast offense. He just has certain games where he doesn’t show up.” This is after riding Locker’s pole for almost a year of him showing up in one damn game. I almost can’t wait until the end of the season to see how the draft shakes out. Wouldn’t be surprised if a season of bad play makes people think twice about Locker.

Anyone know where to find
Defensive stats for FSU games?
These are the stats for every team
http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2010&div=IA&site=org
Right now the FSU defense is ranked 48th

we'd be 10-20 if we didn't play OU

Woot great game by the Fins
scary at the end, Farve is looking older than ever but a win over Minnesota is impressive.

gano just got iced and missed a game winner in ot after making the first...
he nailed the first attempt from 53 yards, but the texans called a to as the ball was being snapped –
his first kick was dead center and would have been good from 63
then after the time out he pushed about 15 yards wide right..
Dagger of a missed kick
He said afterwards that he was "too relaxed’ for the second kick after having made the first try.
Loss wasn’t his fault though considering the defense gave up almost 600 yards during the game.

cant ever blame a kicker for missing a 53 yarder
if they had better protection they would have won in regulation. that block hurt.
If the Skins had anyone worth anything playing in their front 3
they would have won in regulation.
No nose tackle or DEs to run a proper 3-4. So it’s a blitz heavy scheme that just leaves the secondary exposed when it’s going up against the likes of Matt Schaub, Kevin Walter, and Andre Johnson.

question.
who’s the idiot who gave james madison 8 vote points in the AP poll?
Clemson's AD is run by idiots
After losing a nail biter on the road against Auburn, they will now be playing the return game in Atlanta instead of Clemson. Why the hell are you giving away the home field advantage in a year where you will be breaking in a new QB?
Even worse is playing that game...
the week before South Carolina. “This game is not for sissies” – Brent Musburger.
Terrible scheduling for Clemson.
Auburn and South Carolina will be better next year.
p.s. The Auburn-Clemson game this weekend was nasty and one of the hardest hitting games I have seen this year. Guys were getting carted off the field left and right.
