Looks like failure to appear stemming from an initial charge of operating a motor vehicle without a license. Man - this is getting old.

Is this a rather small infraction

or is he gonna be suspended from playing?

by NolenRyan on Sep 8, 2010 11:59 AM EDT reply actions

I would say yes to both

Small infraction, but the guy missed his court date. It also means he probably didn’t inform the staff of the incident, otherwise they would have made sure he got there. That will not sit well with the coaching staff, I would look for him to miss a game or two.

" If "that is the case, that Alexander tried to conceal the ticket...

he will definitely not play vs OU.

I'm just going with my gut on that

I could be totally off – but if I was the HC, missing court dates would be a HUGE no-no.

I could see suspending him for a quarter or half or something.

But I don’t think it’s full game suspension worthy. It’s an incredibly stupid offense and there’s no excusing it.

For driving without a license?

That’s ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. We need everyone this weekend too but I doubt he’ll play.

Christian Jones, anyone?

by Rob_E on Sep 8, 2010 12:07 PM EDT reply actions

why?

are you saying if he starts its out of desparation?

by dale gribble on Sep 8, 2010 1:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Because Jones isn't ready to start against a team this good

He’s talented, but he needs a lot of coaching. Same for Luc. Luckily it looks not to be an issue.

i see

i misunderstood you. I thought you were saying if FSU started an out-on-bail Alexander that would imply trouble. I agree if Jones starts against OU we are in trouble.

by dale gribble on Sep 8, 2010 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions

bail

typically you arent out on bail for such a charge. you might get a p/o to make sure you go to court the next time

by jhunter723 on Sep 8, 2010 5:30 PM EDT up reply actions

or

you might have to pay a fine to be released then you must appear in court once u get out…not familiar with leon county

this make CJF and the "new" noles program look bad

especially with the legal problems that always seem to be going on at Da U and FU, we were doing alright for a little while there but there still seems to be some issues with discipline

What problems at Miami?

I don’t think this is a black eye. It’s just incredibly stupid. Some type of punishment needs to happen, be it in house or on the field.

Non-issue. Would be SHOCKED if he doesn't play.

This team will improve in '10... on its 16-16 conference record over the last 4 years.... after losing 20 games in the last 4 years... after having the 7th worst major-conference defense... after not even winning its own division in the ACC in the last 4.

Agreed. This was a "bonehead" move

He should get a “bonehead” penalty. I trust Coach Fisher to come up with something both equally grueling and humiliating. Something the DA can only dream about.

Makes sense.

This is one of those things where you (hopefully) don’t punish the whole team for one player’s stupid action (or inaction in this case). They can handle this internally and it’ll probably be much tougher on him than sitting out a game.

+1

its a matter of paying the ticket. He’s not a criminal. I imagine he either thought he paid the ticket or forgot about it and didn’t even know a [traffic] court date was scheduled.

Bonehead? yes. Violation of team rules? not likely.

Fisher - "Here's what happened...

"Last year he had a ticket. He went and paid his fines and thought it was over with. He went and took a test to get a drivers license and they told him he had an outstanding warrant because he paid the fines but didn’t think he had to go to court so he didn’t know he had a warrant … When he found out, he walked down and turned himself in. That happened over a year ago … We took care of that. That wasn’t even an issue."

This almost exact same thing happened to me. But I didn’t get arrested for it! sucks for him.

Ahhhhhh same thing happened to me

Florida must have a habit of doing this. They never sent me a notice and then some cop in Pinellas County tried to arrest me for not showing up to court for tickets. I told him I paid the fines and he said “That’s not what my computer said”. So I got another court date issued and then had to pay court fees even though I had taken care of it. The judge basically said we made a mistake, but you owe 53.00 in court fees for showing up today and having us tell you we are idiots. Criminal.
