Chris Casher Commits To Florida State
Chris Casher, a very talented defensive end/ for the class of 2012 from Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama has committed to the Florida State Seminoles. Casher is considered one of the top players in the state of Alabama for the 2012 class. His primary recruiter is FSU quarterback coach Dameyune Craig, a Mobile native. Casher currently holds offers from Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas, and Tennessee. With those six offers, it is fair to say he will be one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the Southeast. He could also play tight end.
Casher stands 6'4" and weighs about 230 lbs. He projects to be 6'4" or 6'5" and 250 lbs when he steps on the field for Florida State in the Fall of 2012. Casher will probably end up at around 265 lbs for Florida Sate. He has excellent athleticism and length. As you can see below, he is still a bit raw, but this is very good film for a Junior.
Casher's dad is rumored to be a huge 'Nole fan and that factor may have helped FSU in securing his commitment. Though he is committed, it remains extremely difficult to pull Alabama and Auburn targets out of Mobile and FSU will have to fight off Alabama for the next 390 days to keep his pledge. Casher's grades are also an unknown, but there are rumblings that he needs to finish strong in his final three semesters to make it in.
Florida State continues to do an excellent job identifying targets quickly and landing them early. Casher is the fifth commitment of the 2012 class. The others are Dalvon Stuckey (6'3" 295lb DT), Delmarick "Mario" Pender (elite RB), P.J. Williams (excellent DB), and Dante Fowler, Jr. (excellent defensive end). Florida State already has good talent. With the 2011 and 2012 classes, however, it is about to have great talent.

Excellent
Puts FSU in great position to snag him!
We were all created to be Seminoles. This is why we bleed garnet and piss gold.
Awesome
I know we have to hold on to him for 13 months, but this is a great start. It’s gonna be a battle till the end. 2012 recruiting class is looking really good so far!
And the train keeps rollin'!

F'Yeah!!!!!
All 5 of our ’12 commitments are top 150 players nationally (per ThaRinger). Wow….
Accountabilty is back in Tallahassee....
Any way he plays LB in college?
Seems we’re going to be full at DE, time to forget about Edwards maybe?
But today is a day to revel and not fret. Whoo hoo, Go Noles!
Shot a Gator in Jean Shorts just to watch him die.
Have a feeling the numbers will work themselves out
This team will improve in '10... on its 16-16 conference record over the last 4 years.... after losing 20 games in the last 4 years... after having the 7th worst major-conference defense... after not even winning its own division in the ACC in the last 4.

"He could also play tight end"
Seems like a big understatement. If we keep him, what are the chances he plays TE?

I am sure some players will seek to transfer to get more playing time.

For what its worth
I heard Stevens was surprising people a little with his play, so he is developing. That said, they will probably ask him to graduate and leave if he is still on the roster next year.

Listen to that sweet music
Don’t ever let it stop. I could use another 14 years in a row in the top 5 or whatever. This is the way, work hard.
This Kid...
Is downright fluid. Oozes talent. Idk if some will disagree, but I’ve watched multiple videos of him and it is easily some of the best video I’ve ever seen on a recruit… regardless of the fact that he’s a junior.
side note ; TN and TNers: by now we SHOULD all understand that early commits aren’t “locked in”, might I suggest we stop qualifying every early commit with the obligatory caveat “if they stay committed”?? It’s just getting a little redundant on every single thread. Nothing in life is guaranteed, nothing.
And I think this kids projects as a tight-end or D-end. Lots of speed.
With a kid from Alabama, a top target of the Tide, it is entirely appropriate.

Not to mention the sackfulls
of dough that auburn will offer him.
It is an impressive pull
considering Alabama won the NC last year and Alburn is playing in the NC this year. But casher knows we will be playing in the NC in years to come
IMO Casher FSU controls its own destiny here, i.e.,
Casher decommits only if FSU screws up, e.g., Jimbo leaves, FSU starts losing, etc…. Don’t see that happening. JMO
Accountabilty is back in Tallahassee....
If he goes to Faith Academy, I can't imagine he might not qualify. That is a very good school. They will help him do what he needs to do
GO NOLES!!! SCALP EM!
Hopefully they are on track enough to allow him to EE.

And he understands the meaning of faith
which is another bonus in case Urban Meyer somehow gets back into coaching next year and goes after him
I dont know about yall
but once Clowney commits, I think that He, Chris Casher, and Christian Jones should have a cage fight to see who gets to wear #7 in 2012.
They can all wear #7
Casher on offense (TE)
Jones on defense (LB)
Clowney (everywhere, but too fast for anyone to make out the number)

Ka-CHING!!
Welcome, Casher! It’ll be a while before we get to see you in Garnet and Gold, but we’re looking forward to it.
Hate to say it, but there was a time I doubted that we'd ever make it "back"
No longer. These kids we have, and the ones coming in (ELITE prospects who will be given all the tools in the form of S&C, nutrition, technique, psychological counseling, etc) are going to make us the center of the college football universe again. And when after 3-4 years in “the process” these guys, players who have been developed at fsu to the max, are going to the league in bunches it’s going to be ridiculous

I was right there with you.
In fact, I still dont want to say what’s coming is a part of the dynasty “like the old days.”
Of course, that’s only because I want FSU to have at least TWO dynasties in its history.

Allow me to correct a couple things
Chris is at least 6’-5" maybe 6’-6". He’s playing basketball right now so he’s only 226 lbs. Once the season is over he’ll probably get up to about 235-240 fairly quickly.
As long as the situation doesn’t change at FSU, Chris will stay committed. He really wants to play DE at the next level and that’s one reason he didn’t choose Bama. He’s a heck of a player and has an opportunity to be great. Julius Pepper great!!
Did Bama not want him at DE?
Or are they just ridiculously stacked there? I’m not familiar with their depth chart at all.
Also, I like the fact that he plays basketball. If he’s good, it usually indicates an added level of athleticism.
by TonySopraNOLE on Jan 5, 2011 5:20 PM EST up reply actions
Bama runs mainly 30 fronts.
Which would mean in order for him to play DE there he would have to play as a 5-tech which isn’t your traditional DE. So it’s more of the fact that he literally can’t play DE there imo
yeah, DE in a 3-4 isn't too fun/exciting.
great for the pro’s when they guy is there because he’s being paid. But like we have already seen there is some hesitation from recruits to put them selves there voluntarily.
Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?
Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.

Frank: That's the red-light district. I wonder why Savage is hanging around down there.
Ed: Sex, Frank?
Frank: Uh, no, not right now, Ed.
Leslie Nielsen, Feb 1926 - Nov 2010
No they didn't.
They wanted him to play there “jack” position which is an outside linebacker who rushes the passer. Think of James Harrison of the Steelers. I wouldn’t consider that position stacked for Bama. Upshaw is playing the position now and Stinson was his back up but I’ve heard recently that Stinson will move to DE. Bama just picked up Xavier Dickson who is a lock for the position and is probably a perfect fit.
IS IT JUST ME ?
Or is anyone else really tired of FSU “fans” that always feel like they need to label Florida State as a team who doesn’t use the TE position. For one if we could land a elite prospect at that position I’m sure that would change ( for example the way we used Brandon Warren ). I just don’t like the idea of our own fans helping shape the opinion of our recruits about us in a negative light . How do you pretend to know what Jimbos intentions are to use a weapon such a Nick Oleary? Psh
by FOREVERNOLE on Jan 5, 2011 9:03 PM EST via mobile reply actions
chicken or the egg?
could easily argue we haven’t used a TE because we haven’t had a great one, and we haven’t had a great one because we never use one.

I thought we used Reliford farely well this year
He’s improved and I expect the position to get better as the RS Fr get into the fold.
We don't use TEs to great effect because we don't have a great TE to use.
We’re not known as a team that uses TEs a lot, but that’s more due to the slim pickings in general for good TE recruits and a recent history of bad luck eating our depth more than any tendency of Jimbo’s. As an ex-QB himself, Jimbo is all about maximizing his QB’s options to make an offense even more unpredictable, and a good TE does exactly that.
Our TEs’ play has been improving when there’s talent there on the roster to improve. Warren was quite good for FSU in his one season, as was Piurowski before he got hurt. I’ll say this for Reliford: as a player with a very limited upside, he has since become a good receiving option. I don’t know how much better he’ll get, but at least he’s been consistent enough as a starter to allow the younger kids the time they need to develop properly.

Some people are just easily programmed I suppose
I am tired of people who say they are tired of people who actually think recruits might possibly really be coming to FSU when they commit. Because in fact 99 percent of them do.
