EXCELLENT ARTICLE!!!
This guy summed it up. There has been questions about this coaching staff and if they don’t give the ball to Freeman at least 15 times next week being the workhorse we know he is then I will seriously start to question this staff.

running class
I AGREE 100%. IF OUR COACHES DIDNT LEARN FROM THE DUKE GAME THAT THIS KID IS WHERE THE FUTURE IS THEN OUR COACHES ARE DOING A TERRIBLE JOB OF IMPROVISING, ADAPTING AND OVERCOMING. THE FUTURE IS NOW. THEY NEED TO STEP UP THEIR LEARNING ABILITIES JUST AS THEY EXPECT THE KIDS TO LEARN. IF FREEMAN DOESNT START THIS WEEKEND AND GET 15 PLUS CARRIES, THEN WE NEED TO BENCH OUR "COACH"ING STAFF. THE FUTURE IS HERE. IT IS NOW TIME

I don't disagree with you, but I will make this point...
“Holy mess, he lit up DUKE. He MUST be a superstar!”
I do agree that I’d love to see him get more snaps… just remember that just because your conclusion may be correct doesn’t mean that your reasoning is sound. Holla!

Runs with no vision
but is incredibly gifted physcially and is strong enough to always get a couple. If he gets some vision he could be great. I’m doubtful he will attain VISION as a RB all of a sudden though

I think he will be a great short yardage back for us. I think Freeman is more physically gifted, but Wilder has impressed me.

I don't know, Wilder jr seems more gifted physically to me
But obviously Freeman is more polished at this point. Still hoping Wilder can turn into another Greg Jones for us. Haven’t had a back like that since he went pro.
"I spent 90 percent of my money on women and drink. The rest I wasted!"
No way Freeman is more physically gifted
There is a no way that Freeman is more physically gifted than Wilder. Mentally and football knowledge wise (vision, understanding, etc.) then heck yes Freeman is. But I don’t think there is too many people in college football as “physically” gifted as JWJ. JMO…
FSU, home of the Bandit! Enough said!
Maybe I worded it wrong
Wilder has a better combination of size/speed, yes. But, in terms of pure rb skills/attributes, Freeman is better IMO. I really like this combination and cannot wait for Pender to bring his own unique skill-set.

yeah i get what your saying
Freeman is more of a “football player” while JWJ is just an absolute freak. Much like Dan Kendra (not so good at football, but an athlete).

I don't think it's such a black and white issue as the author makes it out to be
If Ty Jones starts the game then the coaching staff doesn’t have a clue.
Freeman has shown flaws in the pass protection game. So while I do agree that Freeman is the best runner on this team at the moment, I don’t think the coaches are incompetent if Jones starts or plays a significant amount
I'm thinking
you may be on to something. Now someone might respond saying, “If these coaches come in here, recruit out of their minds, win ten games and totally revise the culture….they may have a clue,” would that gain some traction?
Maybe not. We posters are usually much more competent than these guys who have spent their lives in the game.

Have we seen???
The end of the 2011 zone blocking experiment??? I mean honestly when it comes to zone blocking we are absolutely enimic. I noticed that we passed very well in basically an “assignment” method where the decisions of the zone blocking scheme were basically eliminated. I also noticed as the game wore on that we put a hat on a hat in the run game. I am hoping that we have seen the end of the ridiculously over-hyped zone blocking scheme. The only time I ever saw this work was when Shanahan was at Denver. I know there are some folks on this site that get extremely butt-hurt whenever our coaches are criticized so bring it on with all of the “tell that to …..” comments

We've been zone blocking since Trickett got here.

I know
And, we haven’t ran the ball that well since Trickett has been here either. I don’t buy in to the philosophy that improvent equals success. My point is that the blocking scheme on Saturday was not the same scheme as what we’ve been used to seeing out of a CRT line.

good job
i stand corrected, maybe we are just really lacking the rushing yards from the qb then. what do you think TGN???
Rushing attack
That stat may show us as the 5th best rushing attack or 1st on the year before, but assure you there were a lot of other rushing attacks I would of taken in 09 than the seminoles attack. Just a thought. I know stats can be misguiding and looking at total yards, rushing yards per game, attempts, etc. doesn’t honestly tell the whole story, but can you honestly tell me you felt we had the most imposing rushing attack in 09. I don’t remember it at all like that!
FSU, home of the Bandit! Enough said!
That was S&P+
Which is actually a pretty good stat and accounts for quality of opponent. Keep in mind that we faced ridiculous defenses that year too.
If the only time you saw the zone running scheme work was under Shanahan at Denver, then you must have missed the 2009 and 2010 FSU football seasons.
Did you ever even play the game? I guarantee I can coach my Little League team to beat yours 10 times out of 10.
Did you ever play the game, or we’re you a soccer mom’s dream!

And we have a winner!!!
I knew it would take long!! I can’t say I was missing it bob!!
Improvement from the previous seasons does not mean…..
You’re right, please god, please bring back the ’09 and ’ 10 running game success. Amen

I guess I did miss it
I was on a 2 year tour in Alaska, no excuse. Saw a game every now and then. I guess I’ll lighten up on Trickett a bit. That’s why I like this site, you guys are good
Freeman
It is very possible that he just had a good game. I recall Ty Jones running everyone over in the BYU game and Thomas killing it against Ga Tech.
Freeman does seem to be a bit more electric with some “x button” spin moves and power. I think we should let him put a few consistent efforts out there before we give him the Heisman. He has shown enough to give him more carries than either senior IMO.
1 game against Duke is a small smaple set
