New film of 2013 Defensive Tackle FSU Commit Maquedius Bain in HD. Bain has dominated his competition this year with 38 tackles, 5 sacks and 5 blocked field goals on the year. Maquedius attended the FSU game this weekend with highly recruited WR Dionte Taylor and Jordan Cunningham

I know crazy right?
Per his coach Harriott. Also said that Maquedius has been timed in the 4.9 range which is very good for a man his size.

I've never tracked it before, but
does anyone know how well blocked field goals in HS translates to the next level? Probably a ridiculous question, just wondering if anyone knows.
I think usually you can just take away that any kid blocking that many field goals is a lot better than his competition.
In this case that's probably the best assessment,
Was hoping it had to do more with his size+long arms, but he really is THAT much bigger than his competition…
Kickers and special teams in high school are quite often CRAP.
Keep that in mind.

Wow
He looks like an adult swatting down children out there. I played Little League once with a 9 year old who had some kind of glandular problem and was already 6’1". This reminds me of that.
Dan Patrick: "Is Ponder a good name for a quarterback?"
Christian Ponder: "Why? Because you say I overthink things? is that what you’re trying to imply? As crazy as it sounds, my mom’s maiden name is actually SuperBowlWinner. Isn’t that crazy?"
DP: "Now is that hyphenated?"
CP7: "No, it’s all one word."
Michael, what do you have to say about the level of competition that the U School plays?
I remember a second- or even third-string QB leaving St. Thomas for their greener pastures, blowing up several Broward county passing records if I remember correctly and finishing out his statistically spectacular season by signing a LOI to.. Oberlin.
He’s really talented from looking at the film but I also see 3 or 4 OL always standing around by the LOS with their hands on their hips at the end of every play with him and at least a buddy or two in the backfield.
It's really bad
Guys this big who can move with his quickness are worth there weight in gold. This is just a great job of our staff evaluating talent and offering before anyone else. High 4 star 2013 WR Jordan Cunningham plays at the same school and it hasn’t hurt his rankings by any of the services.

Kid must have huge hands.
He grabs guys with one hand literally and throws them down. He looks 300lb+

This is what I thought...
Now, as far as him transferring from Nova to U School because it would be better for his football career, or whatever that whole thing was about… that kind of confuses me, also. That seems counter productive. Seeing little things like that, it always makes me wonder.
After having used up all of my skepticism for the day now, I am very excited to see this kid and all of his explosiveness on the field.

Why is the transfer odd?
isn’t University better than Nova?

I can't see how.
Nova is 4 or 5A whereas U School is something like 2B. U School has had no real commitment to football that I can think of, evidenced by the lack of any attention drawn to anyone from any of their teams prior to this year. Also, unless they’re putting a lot more money into that program (which would be a surprise), I can’t imagine that the level of coaching is in any way superior, either. Nova has had players play in FBS conference football. To date, I don’t believe that their neighbor has. And like I said the attitudes toward football at either school are worlds apart. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

His burst off the line is impressive!
I remain simply astounded at the job this coaching staff is doing.
Mike Martin should go coach Hawaii. Then he could have all the poi's he ever wanted - MattDNole
I am always skeptical of kids that come from schools like Univ School….but like Michael said his size/weight/athletism overcomes that
That reminds me of University School WR Jordan Cunningham
While Jordan is a great player he is not a top 10 player in the nation at his position or even a top 5 to 10 player in the state of Florida which every recruiting services seems to rank him. Cunningham will get caught from behind at the next level and will have trouble with separation due to his quickness. He does have some very good traits just not at what everybody is rating him

Seems like a project.
I look forward to seeing him play in three years
Did you ever even play the game? I guarantee I can coach my Little League team to beat yours 10 times out of 10.
Did you ever play the game, or we’re you a soccer mom’s dream!
