Tuesday was a very good day for Florida State punter Shawn Powell. Early in the day, he told an FSU reporter that he had just learned he was invited to the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg next month. An all-star bowl for invited draft eligible seniors, the game will give him another chance to impress NFL scouts — if his 2011 season hadn’t already done so. The game will be held at Tropicana Field on Jan. 21. Late Tuesday night, school officials learned that the NCAA was granting Powell consensus All-America status, after he was listed earlier this preseason on several All-America teams, including the prestigious Walter Camp, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Associated Press.
