NC State Unlikely To Have Russell Wilson
The 'Noles can't play against themselves, so we stay on top of opponent news. Personally, I did not expect the 'Pack to have Wilson, but apparently others did. The NC State HC is not one of those.

Why did anybody think he was coming back?

Did anyone think they were going to be formidable next year anyway?
I was under the impression we were pretty much going to bulldoze everyone except Clemson, Miami, Oklahoma, and UF.

Not necessarily "formidable"
but they are a very different team without him.

Should be good along the lines and in the secondary. Receiver and backer are a question.

They haven’t been terrible the past 5 or so years, if I remember correctly. Why don’t they recruit better, Bud?

Okay, so maybe it was a combo of us being terrible and them being terrible….

Just a poor recruiting staff
Good number of older Northeastern coaches who don’t get it in on the trail. Also if you are a big time football player in NC you probably grew up dreaming about playing out of state and the public university of the state is UNC.

He is good
But with our added depth and beef up front, we should keep him from winning the Heisman on us without playing 8 in the box.

I have to slightly disagree with that list and go on record for saying we are going to bulldoze the hell out of Miami next year.
In fact I’m already pegging that game as the one that I’m going to next year because I am that confident of victory. Call me crazy but I just don’t see them competing with us on a team level.
So if nc state is not the biggest hurdle for fsu in the atlantic
Who is? Clemson, BC or Maryland?
BC has a new OC and harris is still there.
Clemson is Clemson.
Maryland still has a good qb.
I don’t know who poses the biggest threat, we should be favored in all three games
by vickers8 on Feb 3, 2011 6:04 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Clemson is Clemson has won 4 out of the last 6
and lost this year on a 55 yard field on the road.
Just sayin’.
Not only that, but they're now putting their resources to proper use.

And FSU has won 2 of the last three. And Clemson has been completely shut out since FSU joined the ACC.
Wake
Maryland
Virginia Tech
have all won the ACC since FSU joined, but not Clemson.

2 out of the last 3 were in Tallahassee
Clemson is 1 for 1 in Death Valley. Next year’s game is in Death Valley.
And Clemson will probably give FSU a great game and may even win, but FSU would still likely win the division because the ‘Noles have the great Duke/UVA crop that y’all squandered a few years back.

But in fairness, Clemson is the only ACC team aside from Miami that can give FSU trouble long-term.

Miami is finished. A staff of Saban at head coach, Jimbo as OC, and Charlie Strong as DC could ever bring recruits to Miami. ; )

People said the same about us also
Miami will be back. We just have to be in a position to not give a flying F!@#.
I disagree
Any one of those 3 COULD bring recruits back to Miami. The problem is none of those 3 WANT to coach in Miami.
Not if Miami’s administration refuses to let them in.

Vickers8’s original post seemed to give BC and Maryland credit but not Clemson. If he is really more worried about BC and Maryland than Clemson then I think he is not seeing the bigger picture. Clemson has been a thorn in FSU’s side and will continue to be their main Atlantic competition, starting in 2011.
actually i said clemson is clemson
Because I honestly have no idea why every year Clemson gives FSU everything they’ve got and gives everyone else the left overs.
You’ve got to admit we’ve got more talent this year yet the game will undoubtably be close.

Its clempson one of like only a few teams in the past 20 years
that hasn’t at least done one of the following: 10 win season, Conference Champ, National Championship, and there might be one other thing. The rest of the teams that haven’t done that are like Duke, Vandy…..
So yea…Clemson is Clemson

I'm not worried about 20 years ago
20 years ago I wasn’t even a Clemson fan, so that stat doesn’t mean anything to me. And Sakerlina is also on that list.
Ha, didn't realize you were a CU guy.
I was really just kidding about the HS coach thing. Didn’t actually buy it…but, since you agree with it I’m reconsidering.

How good can Clemson be without elite offensive talent, the level of CJ Spiller?
That’s not to say Clemson does not have offensive talent now but I think the loss of Spiller might’ve been more detrimental to their offense than some (but not all) realize. I thought Spiller was the best player FSU played against in 2009, easily. I can’t say whether or not he or their offense, as a whole, would’ve excelled in 2010, in spite of what could’ve been a poor coaching situation, but it’s obvious he meant a great deal to their team. The plays he made might’ve masked any poor offensive decisions they made in 2009. A healthy Ellington might be a similar talent but we will not know until next season. And they might not have to rely on that magnitude of talent with better play calling.
If you consider that our defense SHOULD improve and that Clemson’s defensive losses MIGHT lead to defensive decline, we stand a good shot at winning at Clemson next year because we were able to move the ball when we absolutely needed to against an excellent Clemson defense and an improved FSU defense might negate a better-than-before Clemson offense that lacks a Heisman candidate game-breaker.
They have the talent, need the coaching
Gripper Nation - Against Miami: Bobby Bowden .400 Winning %: All other FSU coaches combined .500 Winning %
They have more talent than anyone not named FSU
Next year we may have a talent edge for the first time in years. After that we should have a definite (not huge) advantage. Their coaching will be improved next year, but not on par with FSU.

If Clemson
continues to move in the right direction, the ACC could have the two best teams in the same division. Kinda like Texas and OU before this year.

Well, that's just great. You hear that? Bears. Now you're putting the whole program in jeopardy.

We'll continue to improve under Jimbo and co.
and no doubt losing Wilson hurts them. Gotta tell you though, I think they’ve got a pretty good replacement in Mike Glennon. The footage I’ve seen of this 6’6" kid shows a pretty good arm.
Glennon was a pretty big prospect, he was our 2nd choice behind EJ that year
He even visited the campus before EJ pulled the trigger. His brother was pretty mediocre at VT and got beat out by a freshman Tyrod I believe and threatened to transfer, can’t remember if he ever followed through on it or not.
I've seen him in person, he has a cannon.
However, throwing against our secondary hastily will be treacherous. So will waiting more than 3 seconds.
Furthermore, he obviously doesn’t have the wheels Wilson has.
We’ll be okay against NCSU. Clemson should continue to be our biggest hurdle in the Atlantic.

RUSSELL WILSON MADE A LOT OF PLAYS WITH HIS INSTINCTS….SRCAMBLING AT THE RIGHT TIME…MOVING AROUND IN THE POCK&AND THEN HITTING RECEIVERS DEEP DOWN FIELD. GONNA BE HARD FOR THEM TO REPLACE THAT
turn it down a notch skid row.

Proposed Rule:
All references to the last play of the NC State game should be made in all caps. THINKING ABOUT IT ANGERS ME!
No more Wilson, no more Tyrod Taylor, I'm lovin this year for us.
Hopefully, Boyd doesn’t play as well as the other two did for Clemson.

Can't forget no more Ponder for us
Sure I believe EJ is ready to step in but we’ve needed our backup to finish the season for the past 2 seasons and even EJ has been knocked up through most of 2010 and hasn’t had a full spring yet. So it’s not just everyone else breaking in a new QB we have to see if EJ can maintain it for a full season.
"When in doubt - SPEAR IT"
Coach Coley
Also, EJ doesn't have two starters returning on the O-line.
That scares me a bit, I mean, who will be our starting Center anyway? Still, I’d put more faith in my starting QB, than V-Techs or NCStates, or Clemsons. Or Miami’s, or Virginia’s. Thinking about it, we may have the best starting QB situation in the league. I hope Secord and Trick get their playing time though. Need to be ready.
