A few days ago I took a look at FSU's turnover issues. That's certainly a calling card of Florida State hoops. But so is defense. And as the 'Noles gear up for a third-consecutive tournament run, I thought it fitting to take a look at just how good FSU's defense has been over the last three years.
Why the last three years? Good question. FSU's defense under Leonard Hamilton has always been pretty good, ranking between 75th and 40th from 2005-2008. But over the last three years, it has been otherworldly. In fact, over the last three years, only one team has averaged a better defense: Purdue. That's right, over the last three years, FSU's defense has bested the likes of Kansas, Duke, Memphis, UConn, Ohio State, etc. That's pretty impressive. Whether it will stay at that level after the 'Noles lose Chris Singleton to the draft is debatable. What's not in question is FSU's ability to consistently field quality defenses. And as long as Hamilton is at FSU, that should give FSU a solid base on which to build.
