Singleton to announce decision Wednesday
According to numerous sources on Twitter including Rivals and 247, Chris Singleton will make his decision this Wednesday afternoon of whether to stay at Florida State another year or go pro to the NBA. The announcement will be made on his personal Ustream account.
In the words of the Warchant Twitter account: "If Chris Singleton is really going to announce his future plans on Ustream instead of through FSU you pretty much know the result."

he cant improve at all on offense because of our staff, and his defense cant really get better unless he competes against NBA players, so its better for him. and we already have a full roster of guys that need time, especially at the 4. Okaro or a 3rd guard can take care of the 3, and we have plenty of big men for the 4/5 that have a higher offensive potential. if he were a PG, i would be begging him to stay, but its better for us to get the guys we have on the floor to improve or stop wasting a scholarship. we are never gonna know either way until they get that PT consistently.
comparing Singleton’s offense/defense to what we have there now, i think we gain more on offense than we lose on defense, especially when you consider that we saw that Snaer can lock down the swing and small players. its a big loss on one side of the ball (unquestionably) but a net gain for the future.

I agree.
While his offense has improved some, I think it’s been a pretty slow improvement relative to his athleticism. And I don’t think his offense is necessarilly what we need.
I heard it described somewhere as his hands are “sticky” in the offense. In other words, when the ball gets to him in the offense, it kind of stays there and stops while he decides whether to jack it up, or what to do with it. I think that would be fine for a very gifted offensive player, but he isn’t one now.
That said, his defense is fantastic of course and we’ll miss it. I just think we’ve about maxed out how far this team can go based solely on defense. This team needs to start making strides toward a top 100 level offense, even if it means taking a couple slight steps back on D. I personally think Chris moving on moves that process along.
Of course, it’s the right decision for him a well.
Do you guys really, with a straight face, think we're better without Chris?
Come on, man. It’d be one thing if the guy wasn’t an effort player that coasted on talent or something. I know he hasn’t bloomed into an offensive star, but hell, even when we were recruiting him in high school, he wasn’t someone that was likely to be an offensive star. He was the same multi-talented freak-D athlete he is today.
I see your points, but still…unless a guy like this is a cancer (have no reason to think he is), hard to not look foolish when giving the “we’re better without him anyway” parting speech, JMHO.
word
we’re talking about a first-rounder here, and not the kind that distracts from the ultimate goal (think: Larry Drue)

I think in light of the fact that it's definitely better for HIM for him to go
that I don’t think it’s necessarilly a devastating thing for the team. He’s a phenomenal defensive player, and that will suffer, but I have to think we’ll still be very tough defensively. We might be a little bit worse next year, but should still be tournament contenders, and I think we’ll be better for it two years from now. I think we’re about at our ceiling offensively if we’re depending on Chris to be “the man” on offense, and it’s time to see if Snaer or someone can be a more effective offensive focus.
But obviously, if we were losing him to a career ending injury, or if he was on his way to prison or something, yes, I would lament the loss more. But considering it’s the right thing for him to go, I’m not concerned enough about his loss to hope he makes the wrong decision for himself.

these are almost exactly my sentiments
its not that Chris is not helpful to the team, he is a great player and would contribute to the team. problem is, he doesnt stand to improve much at this level, so its better for him to go. add that to the fact that we need to get some other guys time and put the team on their shoulders, and its better for both sides if he goes. think of it as an amicable break up: both sides were pleased with the relationship as it was, but saw that it had gone as far as it could go, and they both decided it was better for both of them to move on and try someone else (for better or for worse). we may look bad to start the year, but it has to happen some time, and its better that it happens when we have so many upperclassmen to handle the transition and step up in the leadership role.

If the coaches can't better utilize a freak athlete 1st rounder,
I don’t really see how his less talented teammates will benefit from that same coaching.

not as far along as him
they all improve each year, just havent been here as long. i think im done with Gibson and Shannon doesnt look to get much better, but everyone else in the frontcourt just finished their first year at FSU. the backcourt will have Snaer as a junior (typically the big gain year for a Ham guard) and a bunch of young shooters, and hopefully Dulkys and Loucks can show some improvement too. its not that i dont think the coaches cant do anything with him, they just cant get much more out of him after 3 years.

I agree about Gibson
I’m about to give up as well. Even if he gets back in health, and gets better at what he does, I don’t like what he does. Not a fan of 17 foot baseline fall-away turnarounds and 3-pointers from our bigs.
Shannon often looks terrible, but at least if he gets better at his game, I like his game, which is aggressive around the basket. I wouldn’t necessarilly have much hope for him, except for the incredible advance that Ryan Reid made his senior year. They seem like the same type of player, except Shannon is much more physically gifted. I’m hoping Shannon can do that for his junior year. Not expecting, but hoping.
Something about the combination of the word "decision" and basketball players
doesn’t sit right with me.

if I were Chris it is a no-brainer.
Can FSU improve my Offensive skills so I can be drafted higher next season? NO.
Do I need to improve on Defense so I can be drafted higher next season? No.
He should enter the draft and receive a nice paycheck.
This will allow more playing time for snaer & miller and hopefully one of the two freshman coming in will be able to get 5 extra minutes a game now and show why they average 30 points a game in high school.
I know with kitchen leaving as a senior the door is open for freshman to get some playing time in the pg/sg spot and white has shown that, so far, he is capable enough to take singletons spot, atleast on the offensive side. I think FSU will have a better team next year. I just hope gibson is healthy or kreft gets in better shape for our bigs.
ps: james is a stud.
To start the year our starting 5 will be...
Loucks, Snaer, Dulkys, White, James. How it ends, is another question.

Not sure why so many people say he can't improve his offensive skills under this staff,
as if it were a fact. He already has improved his offensive skills tremendously under this staff.
That said, it’s a no-brainer. In college he practices 20 hours a week, in the pros its a full time, year-round gig. That and he’ll own a nice house.

I'll be expanding my writing to cover the ACC, rather than just focusing on FSU

Very cool read a bit. Will read more when I'm not traveling
Still you should Keep a little FSU love in there like Every Day Should Be Saturday Does for the Turds.

i can answer why i say that
he isnt getting a step faster in all likelihood, so the only other area for improvement is to run a more fluid offense with and against NBA players full time to become more proficient. we dont run a very good offense, and you can only be taught so much before our ugly offense stifles your growth. its not that the coaches are bad (he has definitely improved), but when the ball stops with him on offense it means he needs a new offensive situation.

I think we're agreeing while disagreeing,
the coaches do a very good job of teaching individual skills, and an absolutely terrible job of teaching an offensive system.
He would continue to improve here, but learning basketball in college is akin to anyone learning their profession in college vs learning it by actually doing it. 20 hours a week for limited months just isn’t enough coaching time.

my focus is more on the 2nd half of your assessment there
i.e. the staff does a terrible job of teaching an offensive system. i think he has maxed out the individual skills he can learn at this stage, and the problems in our offensive coaching and execution are the reason i dont think he can improve on offense at FSU. adding talent and practice time only makes the argument to go that much stronger, but i think i can make a solid argument without it.

Singleton personally mentioned this....
Singleton made this announcement on his facebook page that he’ll announce his decision on wednesday. So no need for other sources.
as best as i can tell
Chris has 2 Ustream accounts (simple search for Chris Singleton):
c31sing and Team Singleton, in case anybody wanted to watch it at 3 today. since the first has a status update of “big dayyyy updated 5 minutes ago”, i would assume its that one.

Seems like a kid has a much better chance of winning the lottery than having a long lucrative career in the NBA, long odds
Invest and save your money Chris!

The one caveat here is the possible lockout
We may see Chris back if there’s no league next year. He didn’t hire an agent so his options are open.
pretty sure thats not true
i think since he put his name in the draft last year (without hiring an agent) he is bound to the draft this year. otherwise, kids would declare every year.

if he tested the waters last year then youre right, he can't test twice
but im not sure he did test last year…did he?
im pretty sure he did, then backed out of it prior to the draft
dont know how that affects his status if its correct
