In an attempt to provide the TN community with statistical analysis that goes beyond what one could find on other websites I've created an excel program that will sort and calculate data based on a number of different criteria; by down and distance, by quarter, by drive, by player, etc.
The goal here is to come up with creative, yet meaningful stats to provide numerical evidence of which aspects are working well and which are lacking. My mind is more analytical than creative, so I'd like to get some feed back on what you all would be interested in tracking. I'm not looking for the - how many TD's does Joe Lightning score after eating lasagna pre-game meal - type stats. But, I will try to incorporate all requests. Here is a sample:
This data is from the UF game, 2010, with garbage time excluded. What it's focused on is a comparison of standard downs vs. all plays. The success rate is based on the percentage of plays that resulted in a standard down. What's displayed is a only a summary and there are a number of other parameters it's set up to calculate. If you have ideas/requests please share them.
I changed the formula for successful play and added a few new stats.
Updated again to include non-standard downs.
