FSU has offered 2013 QB Jonathan McCrary
Cedar Grove High School Quarterback Jonathan McCrary received a verbal offer from Florida State coaches this last week. It's early, but many consider McCrary to be the top QB in Georgia. As a sophomore last season, the 6-4, 195-pounder threw for 3,347 yards and rushed for over 700 yards. McCrary father is former NFL tight end Greg McCrary. Florida State is the first school to offer McCrary.

I really like McCrary a lot
He is easily my favorite 2013 QB prospect

I'm very high on him also
McCray’s high school plays in one of the tougher districts in Georgia, against teams like Stephenson and Stone Mountain

So is he an "elite" prospect?
I don’t know anything about him. Does this tell us anything about the 2012 prospects, or will Jimbo take an elite guy every year if he can get one?
I would consider a 6-4 kid who can make every throw against maybe the best competition in Georgia close to "elite"
I think Jimbo will take a QB every year as long as there FSU caliber. Our staff likes to evaluate and be the first offer for kids, this is a good example of it.

Arm
Is is just me, or does he look like he’s firing rockets while his feet are never planted?
Needs work on fundamentals, but you can’t teach 6’4 with his type of arm.

I thought the same thing
Seems like he has an idea of what he should be doing but doesn’t follow through on it. On the throws he made while not moving he strided forward but didn’t get any push off from his legs. He also needs to square his shoulders while on the run when throwing.
I think this is the type of kid FSU will recruit while Jimbo’s here. He’ll need a year or two to get all those kinks worked out so I don’t think he’ll be as pushy about depth chart. He won’t get better instruction at any other school. I would say FSU has a lot to offer him.
Any idea where we stand with this kid or is it to early to tell?
Too early, but being his first offer is HUGE. Great job by the staff as usual

Kid has a bit of Ponder in him
In that he definitely has the legs. Looks so even more then Ponder. But he doesn’t just run when the play breaks. He moves and will run, but he seems to look to throw until he absolutely can’t anymore. I love QB’s who dont just run when a play isn’t their, but who uses their feet to try and extend a play and still pass and only take off after all options are gone. He seemed to make a lot of throws even though he could have ran, and I like that. Also considering hes still young he was flinging balls 40+ in the air with good accuracy and almost all on the run. imagine if this kid actually sat back and stepped into one. really looks like a good prospect. Made all sorts of different throws. Would be a big get looks like.

Size & athleticism reminds me of an EJ or Winston
perfect for Jimbo’s O—hope he realizes this fact!
Championship!
I see a lot of EJ Manuel in that reel also

Where is this school?
I live in Kennesaw, maybe I can check out a game or two of this kid.
Cedar Grove HS is in Ellenwood Georgia about 13 miles from Atlanta International Airport
If it’s not far from you I would recommend seeing two of there game.
Stone Mountain HS- So you can see FSU linebacker commit Ukeme “Markuss” Eligwe. They also have a talented OG in Micah Anderson
Stephenson HS- They will have at least 12 D-1 kids for the 2012 class and probably more. You can watch future Florida Gator commits DT Jafar Mann, and RB Mike Davis. They also have DE Jarontay Jones who has close to 20 offers, Safety Kyle Fleetwood with double digit offers, LB Raphael Kirby with over 20 offers. I could go on and on, they might be the most talented high school team in the nation.

and yet with their coach, still won't win state...
If I can, I’ll try to make one of those games, hopefully they are in Stone Mountain and not Ellenwood, because that is closer for me. If I can, I’ll be sure to report back
thats what I am talking about....
identifying top tier talent early…. go Noles!!!!
I fear no man, for the lord is my Shepard, and his will is my striking staff.
My 3 favourite throws were all in a row starting at about the 0:55
mark.
a) rolling to his left and throws with touch to the back of the endzone just over the outstretched arm of a defender;
2) rolling to his right and throws with touch (and a little zip) to a WR who’s got past the last defender and said is able to cruise into the endzone; and
d) taking the snap from shotgun and just gunning a slant right away hitting his WR in stride.
A couple of times I thought he should’ve added a bit more zip, but with WRs so wide open he was just making safe throws. However, by not putting more zip on a few of the slants and quick hitters in general, he didn’t give his WRs the best opportunity to start with space and get even more YAC.
Loses form on a couple of throws, but that is to be expected from a HS Soph.
Very nice canvas for someone like Jimbo to work with. If he ends up here I see no reason why he wouldn’t be able to emulate EJ’s path to success (hopefully all the way to the NFL’s 1st rd pay window).

I like that he extends plays.
He’ll roll out if he needs to and does a good job with pump fakes to make defenders stop or miss.
TEXAS FIGHT
so while he's biding his time to play qb
he’ll be our punter as well? there was a fake in the middle there, and the last play looked like a solid 50 yard punt. (jk)
JIMBO
Well, I was worried that Jimbo’s son being ill, would affect the abiltiy to come to an early conclusion on these guys. This kid sounds like the real deal, lets hope that us being first helps all the way in his recruitment.
I don't know anything about his son but I'm pretty sure he and Jimbo were throwing the ball around on the field prior to the start of the spring game.
That was 2 weeksish after the original announcement.
MiNDSET? SWAG-ER-ISM!!!

Trick is right.
Wherever you are, Trick, you are wise, indeed.
Correct, Sir Trick.
Thanks tricknole!
You truly are one of God's treasures, Trick
They were.
Was sitting right behind him.
Doesn’t mean anything. Probably has good days and bad, treatment prolly makes him have the same.
Formerly known as Randall W. Spetman
He looks good throwing the ball considering his age.
He also seems to have good elusiveness when rushed. I’d call him more quick than fast. Straight line speed looks a little slow but hes still young and thats not that important with a pass first guy anyway.
I like this kid alot
Still a long time before he can sign. And we only made him an offer. Who knows where he really wants to go and may have 30 of them. Love we got there first. But an offer is far from a commit. But he does look elite and if that just 3 games from a a Sp season, wow
