Damn it
Not that I think we’ll keep him much longer, anyway, it’s inevitable he gets snatched up — especially if our D makes another huge jump in progress this year — but I just hate being reminded of it.
He’s still here and I’m already wondering/worrying about his replacement.
Dan Patrick: "Is Ponder a good name for a quarterback?"
Christian Ponder: "Why? Because you say I overthink things? is that what you’re trying to imply? As crazy as it sounds, my mom’s maiden name is actually SuperBowlWinner. Isn’t that crazy?"
DP: "Now is that hyphenated?"
CP7: "No, it’s all one word."
I'm thinking Hudson.
He didn’t just come here to be a LB coach.

nothing to think about, he already has the job if he stays
"I guess they have a reputation of being more of a tricky team and not being tough. You hit ‘em in the mouth, and they don’t like it. Other teams that have beat them just hit them in the mouth, so that’s what we started out with.’’ - Nick Moody
Absolutely right
I’m not worried about replacing Stoops as much as I’m worried about replacing Hudson.
My team doesn't have to be the best. They just have to win.

My point is that
Our next DC is already here and JF knows what he brings to the table. There’s a bit more risk involved when hiring externally.

correct, FSUactuary
the question isn’t who will be the new DC, it’s who will take over the secondary when Stoops leaves.
And since there is a good chance Eliot leaves with Stoops (Eliot was interviewed on Stoops rec), who takes over at DE.

Jimbo is always ahead of the game
Greg Hudson is the DC in waiting!!! That is how hudson came to FSuUin the first place. Jimbo told him stoops will be around here for a few years changing the defense and then the job is yours..
I am actually waiting...
On Hudson to become DC. With Jimbo’s emphasis on on size and his aggressive coaching style, I think FSU will become a nightmare for opposing offenses.
If FSU jumps to a top 15 or 20 defense this year
I don’t know if a NC run would be necessary. That kind of two year turn around, his coaching pedigree, etc might get him a tempting enough offer after this season. It becomes a matter if he wants a BCS conference school only, like his brother Mike with Arizona, or a BCS conference school with a history and booster support that suggests national title contenders could be built there, like his brother Bob. If the latter, yes, a NC run may be necessary to get that kind of offer.
