Florida State Defeats Clemson to Claim ACC Atlantic Division

56

It wasn’t the prettiest or sharpest game of the year with a combined 5 errors, 2 hit batsmen and 2 wild pitches but the Noles won 8-6 against the Tigers on Thursday night. Sean Gilmartin overcame a first inning homerun and 2 errors pitching 7+ innings striking out 6 and only walking 1. He was relieved by Brian Busch who gave up a couple hits and was pulled for Daniel Bennett who made things interesting loading the bases but eventually striking out Brad Miller on a 3-2 count. Bennett was much better in the 9th retiring Clemson in order ending the game and earning the crown for the Noles. Offensively Justin Gonzalez and James Ramsey combined for 5 RBI. Credit to the FSU offense as they seemed to counter with a run every time Clemson drew a little bit closer. This win puts Florida State in a very good spot to earn a national seed and 1 more win this weekend would almost guarantee it. I believe with this start tonight and Danny Hultzen having the weekend off Sean Gilmartin earned himself ACC Pitcher of the Year. Congrats to the entire Seminoles team.
