The Florida State Seminoles ended the regular season on a disappointing note losing the last two games to the Clemson Tigers. The Noles continued to get poor starting pitching as Robert Benincasa and Mike McGee lasted a combined 6 innings pitched giving up 9 earned runs on 9 hits while walking 7 and only striking out 3. Offensively FSU managed to score a respectable 9 runs against the excellent Clemson pitching staff but was carried by the same hitters who have done most of the damage throughout the whole year. On Friday hitters 1-5 went 6-19 (.316) with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts while hitters 6-9 went 1-12 (.083) with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. The return of Devon Travis on Saturday helped by returning a much needed bat to the lineup and hitters 1-6 went 7-23 (.304) with 3 walks 5 strikeouts while hitters 7-9 went 1-10 (.100) with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.
The Seminoles did win the Atlantic Division on Thursday night earning them the #2 seed overall and will be the top seed in Pool B. The remaining teams in the pool are #3 Georgia Tech, #6 Clemson and #7 NC State. In Pool A the University of Virginia earned the #1 seed and will have to play #4 North Carolina, #5 Miami and #8 Wake Forest. The tournament begins on Wednesday and below is the entire schedule.
