Ponder Changes Throwing Motion
Of interest to new Viking fans and FSU-only fans alike.
Chris Weinke is reported to be working with Ponder to fine tune his throwing motion "to reduce some arm problems he had in his final two seasons at Florida State." Ponder said, "Actually me and Chris have done some things – he’s fixed some things in my mechanics and I’m throwing the ball extremely well."
>>> Is Ponder just being kind, or is there a potential link between Ponder's throwing motion at FSU and his arm trouble?
Also, it's looking more like Ponder could be seeing some serious playing time this season.

Is this a tweak that should be passed on to Jimbo and co.?
Would similar tweaks help EJ and future FSU QBs, or was the tweak more Ponder-centric?
no link at all between arm issues and throwing motion
hurt his shoulder on a tackle, and his arm in a freak incident sliding on the ground. as a matter of fact, when they drained his elbow and wrapped it up, he went out and dominated the next week. then they took it all off, and it all went to hell.
he got hurt because he is a football player, on the field with 240 pound men that run a 4.5 40. if you dont duck out of bounds, you tend to get the brunt of what they are trying to send your way.
"I guess they have a reputation of being more of a tricky team and not being tough. You hit ‘em in the mouth, and they don’t like it. Other teams that have beat them just hit them in the mouth, so that’s what we started out with.’’ - Nick Moody

Exactly
Throwing motion would not cause such injuries

Just like a great baseball player
Is always trying to tweak his batting swing to make it that much better its the same for a QB. Always trying to tweak a motion a bit here or there. Whether its for accuracy or a stronger throw. mechanics are always worked on. An all pro QB in his 8th year should still always try and learn and improve. I think Ponder is just tweaking little things a bit more that he may not have had time to work on or tweak with hid injuries in the latter part of his career at FSU. Great players tell you they never stop learning or trying to improve on something
A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt.
