AP Poll: Florida State is 6th

Stay connected for news and updates

The Associated Press released its poll today and the AP has pegged Florida State 6th.  This is the highest FSU has ranked in the preseason poll since 2004, when the 'Noles were ranked 5th at the start of that season. After a 9-3 record, the Seminoles finished 15th. This FSU team, however, has much better coaching than the 2004 edition of the 'Noles.

Expect a lot of movement at the top from some teams as Oklahoma is the top team, and must travel to FSU on September 17th. #3 Oregon Squares off against #4 LSU to open the season in Dallas.  #5 Boise State plays #19 Georgia in Atlanta to open the year as well.

Florida came in at #22, which reflects voters troubles with the Gators, as they have tons of talent, but many questions as well surrounding the change in coaching staff. Miami is unranked, as is Central Florida.

The only other ranked ACC team is Virginia Tech, which checks in at number 13. Expect that to change, however, as several ACC teams have a chance to finish with four or fewer losses.

Who might some ACC teams replace? Try one or two of the eight (8) SEC teams. Incredibly, despite losing 42 scholarship players off its national championship team, including 15 starters and both specialists, voters left Auburn in at number 23. Mississippi State at #20 is also highly suspect, and though the SEC West Devision has more talent than some conferences, it's highly unlikely it will keep five ranked teams as the season progreses.
