Greg Reid a Heisman Dark-horse Candidate
Jesse Palmer today on ESPN's College Football Live picked Greg Reid as one of his 5 dark-horse candidates for the Heisman trophy. Saw it live so no link to the story is available yet.

great athlete, no shot.
"What kind of addicting substance has Jimbo spiked the Tally water with?
It’s this new thing going around campus lately-I think it’s known by the term…"winning". I hear it’s really addictive and the real hardcore victory junkies can smell it from all the way across the nation."
Greg would have to....
have a complete breakout season, on defense and special teams in order to get in the conversation. He racked up a lot of yards on kick returns last year, but he would have to turn some of those returns into touchdowns and be a complete shut down corner in having more interceptions than last year and not giving up too many big plays downfield. With the size and depth of our D-line this year, he should definitely have a lot more opportunities to get a few more int’s. But as far as 5’8 corners go, he maybe the most complete small corner, I have ever seen. Definitely at FSU. Let me know if I am wrong…
I like Reid. He's a South Ga product. I always root for our boys.
He’s no Charles Woodson, though. Unfortunately, that’s what it’ll take for him to win it.

I'd love to see another FSU heisman winner
But I just don’t see it being him. Unless he houses a punt return in like every game
"Kill a fly with an axe"
Plus he scores via
PR, KR, INT, Fum, reception, pass, run, blocked XP return for two, and a TFL for a safety. Leads nation in KR, PR, INTs, passes defended, and… KOs?
Then maybe. Yeah, that might do it.
and swagg!
but seriously, if FSU is still in the hunt in late November, and Reid led the nation in either KR or PR and had 6 or more INTs that would probably get him invited to the awards ceremony.
He's going to be the 2nd ever defensive player to win it?
Jesse Palmer is an idiot.

this is a different era, I don't think those stats look as good when you have these spread offenses throwing up gaudy numbers.

He's just tossing his can of oil
On the FSU hype machine.
Full speed ahead!
I would love for G5 to make Jessie Palmer look like a genius on this one but I won’t bet money on it..
Saw Peter Warrick play once. The rest is history...
Bud has everyone on TN trained to think like a pro scout
But even if Reid isn’t the team MVP this still has a chance simply because he gets a ton of style points and if FSU only has one loss then they FSU hype machine go be going to be a powerful force.
EJ might get more Heisman love than G5 if we're 11-1.
I just pre-ordered my SI 2012 FSU Championship Package.

Give Palmer a little credit here
I saw it too, and he threw Greg Reid in there because he said something along the lines of “I’m in Tallahassee and figure I need to pick someone from this defense, so I’m going with Greg Reid”… I don’t think he was super serious about it.
And then the anchor mentioned he has Brandon Jenkins on his dark horse list.
Brandon Jenkins
That was Heisman winner Andre Ware that commented on Brandon Jenkins. Also said in his opinion that Jenkins is the best player in the ACC.
and yeah, I am defending a former gator, but to be honest he’s one of my more favorite analysts at ESPN. He always seems pretty informed (compared to the rest of them) and always has given FSU props when due
being the most informed at Espn is like being the smartest kid in boom boom classes.

Can I use this as my tag line
on other forums? Promise to give you your due credit.
Awesome.

I hope he's right...
Team this with 2 solid anchors in the middle and a monster on the left side. It’s gonna get ugly for opposing offenses this fall…
I love me some swaggzilla
But this is just not going to happen. We have too many players on defense now with just as much talent as G5 at their respective positions. He isnt going to make as many plays because he isnt going to have to. We have studs on both side of the ball.
I do see his PR numbers going up though, at least I would think so with alot more stops on defense.
FSU’s next Heisman=Devonta Freeman. Drink it up!

Edit: FSU's next Heisman=EJ Manuel
Followed soon thereafter by Devonta Freeman!
Ehhhh. I dont know that his stats will ever look that good unless he all of a sudden stopped forcing balls into great coverage.
I just dont see EJ’s ceiling being higher than some of our freshman. Lets not forget the ACCCG. But heres hoping he proves me wrong.

ACCCG
Would Ponder have done as well as a Soph with far fewer reps?

He's only a Junior, and was able to participate in spring practice for the first time
he’s gonna be a good one

Espn Analysist
Not sure which, but either Palmer or Herbstreet called Jeff Demps a darkhorse Heisman canidate last pre-season. This is a bad omen for G5, hopefully he can overcome their negative karma.
I hope Kirk hates us all year long
after the miami game last year he thought we were the best team in the land… then we proceeded to slop it up against BC, NC St, UNC, and barely beat Clemson.
