"It is an absolute joke that Florida State was dropped nine spots in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll released Sunday after a 23-13 loss at home to Oklahoma. The previously fifth-ranked Seminoles were tied well into the fourth quarter with the top-ranked team in the country. Dropping FSU nine spots for that commendable effort is pitiful on the part of the sports information directors out there that vote in this disgrace of a poll. Why this poll continues to have any effect on which two teams play for the national championship is beyond me. FSU was punished as if it was routed and that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Seminoles deserved to drop at most six spots, which is what the Associated Press poll did. At No. 11, the Seminoles could still make a viable run to get back in the national championship picture. Standing 14th with a loss in hand makes it really difficult. Too bad for FSU that the AP poll doesn’t get factored in to the BCS title game equation."
